Danny Dyer admits ‘I was slowly killing myself’ before he begged for help with drink and drugs

Danny Dyer has spoken about the highs and lows of his career including when he was overdoing the partying and had to take time away from TV

Danny Dyer has been honest about his past problems

Danny Dyer has revealed his moment of clarity to make a change to his life when he was “slowly killing himself” after being “off his head” after the National TV Awards.

The acclaimed actor, who has won rave reviews for his performance in the Disney+ drama Rivals, also looks back and said his Eastenders co-star Luisa Bradshaw-White was the only one who told him he had an issue and helped his sort his life out insisting “No one else would say that to me.” Danny is now enjoying a blossoming career and has his life on track, having recently walked daughter Dani down the aisle to marry footballer Jarrod Bowen.

But looking back with interviewer Louis Theroux, Danny said previously he knew he was “destroying himself” and his career. At the time he was on EastEnders playing Mick Carters since 2013, but he would head into rehab in Cape Town in 2016.

Danny, 47, said: “I had a moment of clarity where I had been on it all night after the NTAs. I think I’d won and that’s always on like a Tuesday or something and I had to go to work. There’s another thing with EastEnders, is that they go, yeah, come celebrate NTAs, but you are up at seven in the morning. So anyway, I’d just overdone it again and I just could not work out how to get my jeans on.

“I was just sitting on my ensuite toilet trying to work out what leg goes in what, and I don’t why. I’ve sort of had many of them moments over the years of me being completely off my head. But that one really resonated with me. It was more because I looked up, my wife was just watching me and she looked shattered and she looked ill.

“And of course, you know, the drug taking and the madness that comes with it, you’re destroying yourself and your body and you’re slowly killing yourself, but you also, you’re really upsetting the people around you. I just looked at her, even through this moment, I was off my head. But everything seemed to just sort of go, what the f*ck are you doing to people around you that love you? And it was that moment and I could hear Artie, my son, who’s now 11, he must have been 3. He was running around downstairs and I think I’d got rid of the last straggler out the house.

“Yeah, So I had a car picking me up to take me to work and it was just this moment I thought, sh*t, you’re going to die. You’re going to kill yourself. You’re not happy. You’re spanking all your money on drugs. You’re destroying everything around you. It’s weird, that moment, because I went straight to work that day and I was a bit off my head and I did say, ‘Listen, I need help. I can’t do this anymore. I need help. I don’t know what it is, but this is a crossroads in my life where I need a gear change and I need it now and I don’t think I’m going to survive this year’.

Danny made the decision to go to rehab in Cape Town after this awards show after-party at his house.

He added: “And so, you know, I want give a shout out to Louisa Bradshaw White, who played my sister Tina, who really came to the front for me, more than anybody else.

“She’d always said that she thinks I’ve got an issue and problem. No one else would say that to me… I don’t know, people don’t want to busy themselves in your life either.

She would always say, “whenever you’re ready” you know, that was her vibe with me and then I was ready.

“She’s had her issues like a lot of people have really, and a lot of people in my life, I’ve seen a lot of people go through some quite heavy stuff and always thought, oh f*cking hell, that’s quite heavy, glad I’m not that bad. Actually, turns out I was, it just took me a longer route to get there.”

Danny, who is married with three children, previously told the BBC receiving a letter from his daughter Dani while at a rehab facility in 2016 was what convinced him to continue his treatment.

He shot to fame in the 1999 film Human Traffic, is now one of the most recognisable stars of British TV and film. Danny played Mick Carter in BBC soap EastEnders from 2013 to 2022 and has now starred in his own comedy series Mr. Bigstuff and big budget dramas like Rivals.

He told Louis Theroux he is “proud” of his upcoming film ‘Three Quick Breaths’.

On a lighter note he also talked about seeing a UFO and being convinced the exist.

It was an orb going through the sky. So then that’s a UFO. So, whatever you want to make of that, that’s the fact,” he said.

He also said he won’t be trying to crack Hollywood anytime soon, despite being encouraged to try.

He explained: “I understand that’s where the work is and that’s the ultimate, but can I be bothered to go and live out there on my own? Talking American all the time to everybody pretending I’m someone else.”

David Beckham’s mum ‘in tears’ as they have sweet reunion for first time ‘since the news’

Football legend David Beckham had a touching moment with his mum Sandra as they headed back to his working class roots amid the ongoing family drama with son Brooklyn

Sir David Beckham’s mum cried when she reunited with her football icon son for the first time since his knighthood. The sports star, 50, finally received his long-awaited title from King Charles on Friday as part of The King’s Birthday Honours List.

It comes after years of hard work from David through his football career and charity work off the pitch. The accolade now means he is a ‘Sir,’ and wife Victoria is a ‘Lady’.

However, his exciting news came at a very tough time for the Beckham family as the fallout with eldest son Brooklyn, 26, rumbles on. The aspiring chef is said to have found out about David’s knighthood through the media and has reportedly stopped responding to messages from his famous family.

In a series of blows, Brooklyn failed to attend any of David’s 50th birthday celebrations, acknowledge his knighthood and share anything for Father’s Day. Despite this, David has remained proud of his recent achievement as he has received the support from the rest of his family.

To celebrate, David returned to his working class roots as he headed to a traditional pie shop in London with his mum Sandra and sister Joanne. He shared: “Lunch with Mum, haven’t seen her since the news mum cried when she arrived, cried during lunch and cried when I was leaving x special moment for us all love you mum x.”

On Sunday, Brooklyn dealt another blow as he ignored Father’s Day. For the family who have long used social media to post gushing personal messages, it seems Brooklyn’s silence could be deafening.

His younger brothers Romeo and Cruz led the way in paying tribute to David for the special day. Cruz shared a snap of him chilling in the sun with his sports star dad and captioned the post saying: “Happy Father’s Day, I love you x.”

Meanwhile, Romeo posted two pictures of him and his father. One was of him as a child with David and he captioned it simply saying: “love you.”

David shared his own public message to his children as he appeared to hint at the feud. He shared: “My most important & favourite job in life is being a dad… I’m so proud of all of you and like daddy ( sorry boys ) tells you every single day I will always be here for you no matter what…

“Mummy thank you for doing the most important part and making me a father there is no greater gift in life than making me a dad… Happy Father’s Day… I love you kiddies more than you could imagine.”

A similar pattern followed on Friday when David was officially made a Sir. Brooklyn was nowhere to be seen on social media, adding fuel to the already blazing fire that the family are in the midst of a turbulent time.

Taking to Instagram, he instead shared three packets of pretzel pita chips. According to sources, David never told Brooklyn about his accolade and the former aspiring chef learned about the achievement through the media.

A source for Brooklyn told Page Six he was thrilled his dad was finally receiving the honour, while a source quoted as someone close to his parents told the publication: “Brooklyn told his family he wants no contact and he’s not responding to those that try to connect.”

Yet a separate Brooklyn source denied the claim, saying: “This seems to be another deliberate attempt to misrepresent the truth, and it only serves to distract from this honour being bestowed on Brooklyn’s father.”

Matthew Perry’s doctor pleads guilty to distributing ketamine to late Friends actor

Friends actor Matthew Perry died aged 54 as he was found in the hot tub at his Los Angeles home in 2023, which was ruled as an accident from the ‘acute effects of ketamine’

Dr. Salvador Plasencia has agreed to plead guilty to distributing ketamine to Matthew Perry before his tragic death. The Friends actor was found dead in the hot tub at his Los Angeles home on October 28, 2023 aged 54.

An investigation found the cause of Perry’s death to be ruled as an accident from the ‘acute effects of ketamine’, the exact manner of which came from drowning.

Plasencia, also known as Dr. P., was one of five people charged last year. He faces up to 40 years in prison for the four counts of distribution of ketamine.

The physician has agreed to plead guilty, according to a plea agreement filed on Monday. He had previously been facing a variety of charges, including altering and falsifying documents or records related to the federal investigation.

Dr. Salvador Plasencia is said to have pleaded guilty

Dr. Mark Chavez, Perry’s live-in personal assistant Kenneth Iwamasa and alleged drug dealer Erik Fleming all pleaded guilty. Jasveen Sangha – who is allegedly known in Hollywood circles as the ‘Ketamine Queen’ – pleaded not guilty.

Following his guilty plea, personal assistant Iwamasa helped in the cases against Plasencia, charged with illegally selling ketamine to Perry in the month before his death, and Sangha, a woman who authorities say sold the actor the lethal dose of ketamine.

Dr. Chavez – who pleaded guilty to his charges of conspiring to distribute the surgical anaesthetic ketamine – allegedly formed the bridge between Perry, Sangha and Plasencia.

US attorney Martin Estrada said in announcing the charges “the doctors preyed on Perry’s history of addiction in the final months of his life last year to provide him with ketamine in amounts they knew were dangerous”.

Perry struggled with addiction for years, dating back to his time on Friends, when he became one of the biggest stars of his generation as Chandler Bing.

He starred alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004 on NBC’s megahit sitcom.

In his memoir, he admitted that he struggled to watch Friends because it reminded him of the tough times he went through. “I didn’t watch the show, and haven’t watched the show, because I could go, drinking, opiates, drinking, cocaine,” he later added.

“I could tell season by season by how I looked. That’s why I don’t wanna watch it, because that’s what I see.” Perry explained: “I was taking 55 Vicodin a day, I weighed 128 lbs, I was on Friends getting watched by 30 million people — and that’s why I can’t watch the show, ‘cause I was brutally thin.”

“I had a rule that I would never drink or do drugs while working,” he said. “Because I had too much respect for the five people I was working with. So I was never wasted while working.”

Catherine Tyldesley reveals she goes ‘two or three days’ without speaking to her kids

Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley has admitted she goes days without speaking to her young children as she revealed the challenges of working away as a mum

Catherine Tyldesley has revealed the tough realities of her job and how she copes being away from her family. The actress, 41, shares her son Alfie, 10, and daughter Iris, three, with her husband Tom Pitfield.

However, in a bombshell revelation Catherine said she can go multiple days without speaking to her young children. Catherine, who found fame on Coronation Street, explained it is not uncommon for her to be away from the family for long periods.

She has recently starred in The Good Ship Murder, which was filmed on a luxury cruise ship in Malta. While Catherine was away working on the series in the lavish location, Tom stayed at home to be with their kids.

Due to the stark contrasts in her work and home life, Catherine admitted it makes her feel she is “somebody else”. Explaining the situation, the TV star said: “When I’m on set, being in Malta as much as I have been, a year-and-a-half in total if you join it all up; I’m OK, because it’s very fast paced.

“A little bit like it was on Corrie; my head is firmly in work mode. I’m somebody else, I’m not me. But it’s when I get back to that hotel in the evening and it’s silent.. The bedtime routine, bath time, not being able sit on the bed and read Iris a book or chat to Alfie about how his day was.”

She said the family use video calls, but confessed “it’s not the same.” Speaking on the Behind the Brood podcast, Tom told Catherine: “Some days we’ll go two or three days without Zooming and that might seem mental to some people.

“The reality is, you’ll sometimes want to ring Iris and she’s too busy playing with her dollies.” Catherine added: “We feel like we know when the time is right and I’m often on a different time zone to you.

“When I’m filming on the cruise ship, that’s a nightmare because the WiFi is all over the place and we skip from tome zone, to time zone. It is difficult and I always say to the other actors on set.. they’re like, ‘You alright, Cath? Are you missing your kids?’ And I’m like, ‘I just want to sniff them’.”

In response Tom joked: “It’s funny, as I just want to launch them out of the window some days!” Following a rocky love life, Catherine found love with photographer Tom in 2014 and after a nine-month whirlwind romance, they announced they were expecting their first child together.

They welcomed a little boy named Alfie James and wed in 2016 in a lavish ceremony attended by many Coronation Street co-stars. The couple later welcomed their second child, a little girl named Iris Ella, who was born in April 2022.

Catherine hasn’t been shy about showing her love for Tom on social media as in 2023 she gushed: “Best. Dad. Ever. Someone said to me recently that the best piece of advice they’d been given was ‘be careful who you chose to have kids with!’ I think that’s spot on!!

“They’re not as golden as this one!! Wise advice. Find someone who has a heart as big as the ocean, the patience of a saint, and has SHED loads of energy!”

She added: “@tompitfieldphotography you go above and beyond every single day. You are the biggest of heroes to our children. I also think it’s safe to say my inner child is very present so I am aware of how full your plate must feel my love. We love and appreciate you every single day in every single way. Thanks for knocking me up.”

Oasis beaten by another British band to be crowned biggest live entertainers on the planet

The Coldplay world tour making them biggest touring act of 2025 so far, beating the likes of Shakira and Beyonce

Coldplay are the biggest live entertainers on the planet so far this year having taken home a whopping £100m from concerts. Chris Martin’s forty something Devon founded rock act has wiped the floor with other touring acts in 2025 being crowned as the biggest earners of 2025’s Worldwide Tour – taking £100,868,947.68

Latina pop queen Shakira, 48, is 15 percent off Coldplay’s figures (in second place) with the planet’s biggest rapper Kendrick Lamar, 37, taking home 30 percent less than the Paradise rock act. Music analytics giant Pollstar has served up the tour revenues for the year, which prove the English band remains as popular as ever – even making over TWICE as much as Beyonce.

They earned almost £5m per show (£4,803,637.29) from 21 nights playing to 1,205,449 fans on their current leg of The Music of the Spheres World Tour. Coldplay cemented their reputation as a band for the masses by selling tickets at an average price of less than £85 a pop (£83.65).

They are well ahead of any other UK and Ireland acts as even the biggest names like Paul McCartney have only played short tours whereas they are on a monster stadium tour which earns them a fortune.

By the end of the year Oasis will be up with Coldplay in terms of huge earnings. The Oasis Live 25 tour is expected to gross over £400 million from various revenue streams, including ticket sales, sponsorships, merchandise, and more. Reports suggest Liam and Noel will bank over £50 million each from the 25 date tour.

Shakira came in second at £85m, followed by Kendrick Lamar and SZA £73.91m, The Eagles £68.82, SEVENTEEN (£68.45), Trans-Siberian Orchestra £50.55M), Tyler, The Creator (,£49.5m, Dead & Company (£45.6m) , j-hope (£44.19m), and Beyoncé( £44.04m).

Pollstar compiled the figures for the 2025 Mid-Year Top 100 Worldwide Top Touring Artists from shows between November14, 2024 to May 14, 2025.

US acts dominated the first half of live show business events globally on the top 100 list. And after many years of over 40s dominating the biggest earning charts, younger talents and boy and girl bands are now making waves on the live front.

Most legacy acts, like The Grateful Dead and The Eagles, earn more from each ticket often well over £200 a seat.

After Coldplay it was an 82-year-old music icon showing the youngsters how to earn big – at number 29 in the global chart. Ex Beatle Macca was the next highest earning UK and Ireland act having generated £23,238,897.86 in revenue from just nine shows to nearly a quarter of a million fans. The average ticket price is less than a £100 for the Liverpudlian genius to deliver often three hour sets of iconic hits.

Eighties metal act Iron Maiden made over £20m from 10 gigs to 387,180 fans, who only paid an average of 52 quid. Pop princess Due Lipa continues to ride high with her catchy pop hits coining in over £15m from 11 areas nights on her Radical Optimism Tour (£15,440,757.07).

Hot on her heels was 2024’s Gen Z darling Charli XCX – originator of the Brat Summer movement – who bolstered her bank account by £13,829,123.46 over 11 gigs.

Irish act The Script showed their appeal remains strong taking home almost £14m from 38 gigs at a fee of less than fifty quid. Over sixties Brit soul act Simply Red walked off with £10m from nine gigs, while Rod Stewart was close behind with £9.2m. Geordie rocker Sam Fender, 31 wowed at 19 gigs taking in nearly £9m.

Pollstar noted in their report: “ The Mid-Year Worldwide Touring Artists chart highlights a healthy live market, with its top three tours each grossing over $100 million well before the busiest concert season.

”Additionally, average revenue per show jumped 24.9% to $1,713,557, and per-show ticket sales rose 32.1% to 14,229. However, these average revenue increases were mitigated by a 5.5% drop in average ticket prices from $127.38 in 2024 to $120.43 this year, likely reflecting 2025’s uneven economic conditions marred by trade wars, a volatile stock market, shaky consumer confidence, inflation, and mixed employment reports.”

Pollstar, “The Voice of Live,” is the premier trade publication dedicated to covering the worldwide concert industry. Pollstar data is the leading resource for the touring industry encompassing box office numbers, event listings, and contact directories. Pollstar produces a monthly magazine, weekly and daily e-newsletters, and produces the world’s largest gathering of live music industry professionals. Although The Music Of Spheres tour is the second biggest tour ever over the whole of it’s duration over multiple years, Coldplay is still miles away from £1.74bn of from the Taylor Swift Eras Tour.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ trial sees juror dismissed after ‘conflicting statements’

A juror has been dismissed from Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ trial after he was accused of giving inconsistent answers about his residency during jury selection

A juror in Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ trial has been dismissed after over a month of the rapper’s high-profile federal trial on charges that include racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, following concerns about his honesty.

Lead prosecutor Maurene Comey had raised issues last week calling for a dismissal due to a “lack of candour” from the juror.

Initially hesitant, US District Judge Arun Subramanian later determined the 41 year old male juror was not forthright about where he lived, having given conflicting statements regarding his residence in both the Bronx and New Jersey.

Judge Subramanian expressed reservations, commenting that he had “concerns about his candour and whether he shaded answers to get on and stay on the panel.”

Jurors partaking in the trial, located in Manhattan, must be residents from the Southern District of New York, encompassing Manhattan, the Bronx, and parts of the Hudson Valley.

Subsequently, the judge ruled that the juror be relieved of duty, appointing an alternate— a 57 year old white architect from Westchester County — in his stead.

Combs’ defence team, however, objected to the removal; one of his solicitors, Alexandra Shapiro, considered it a “thinly veiled effort to dismiss” a Black juror, while fellow counsel Xavier Donaldson contended that this change would result in a less diverse jury.

The identities of the jurors – a mix of eight men and four women whose ages range from their 30s to their 70s – are being kept under wraps. In addition, six alternate jurors were picked comprising four men and two women.

Sean Combs, better known as the founder of Bad Boy records, has strenuously denied any involvement in crimes of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution, pleading not guilty to all charges.

The potential penalties for these allegations are severe, with Combs facing anywhere from 15 years to a lifetime behind bars if found guilty.

Tensions rose earlier this month when the presiding judge gave a stark warning to Diddy during proceedings, admonishing him for an alleged attempt to communicate non-verbally with the jury by nodding at them during Bryana Bongolan’s testimony, a friend of his former partner Cassie Ventura.

With the jury absent from the courtroom over lunch, Judge Subramanian pointedly addressed Combs’ legal representative: “I was very clear there should be no facial expressions to the jury, and I could not have been clearer.

“There was a line of questioning where your client was nodding vigorously and looking at the jury … [This was] absolutely unacceptable.

“This can’t continue or I will give a limiting instruction you won’t like, or other measures including barring your client from the courtroom. Do you understand?”.

Marc Agnifilo, who is representing Combs, assured the judge that such conduct would cease immediately.
