Tom Cruise, a Hollywood veteran, will receive an honorary Oscar before the 2026 Academy Awards, according to the organisers on Tuesday.
Along with choreographer Debbie Allen and production designer Wynn Thomas, Cruise was chosen to receive a statuette for his contributions to film.
The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, which Dolly Parton won for her decades-long humanitarian work, will also be presented at the Academy’s 16th Governors Awards ceremony in November.
Despite achieving world notoriety for his roles in the action movies “Mission: Impossible” and “Top Gun,” Cruise, 62, has received four Oscar nominations but has never received the honorable distinction.
The Academy said in a statement that Tom Cruise’s extraordinary dedication to the film industry, the theater, and the stunt industry has inspired everyone.

It praised him as “one of the most admired and highest-grossing actors of all time” and praised his commitment to performing all of his own stunts.
Allen, 75, was honored for her five-decade career, which included working on films like the 1995 rom-comedy “Forget Paris” and choreographing the Academy Awards ceremony seven times.
The music video for Davido’s chart-topping collaboration with Omah Lay, With You, features a surprise cameo from highlife legend Bright Chimezie, whose work served as the song’s inspiration.
The With You video, which was shot in Lagos and directed by Dammy Twitch, debuted on Monday and has already received over one million views in less than 24 hours.
Scenes of young revelry, with Davido and Omah Lay at the center of a celebratory, party-like setting, are featured in Polar Films Production’s production.
Chimezie dances his signature moves while wearing a Hamlet-style cap and a white bead necklace at the beginning of the video, which contradicts an earlier viral clip where he acknowledged Davido’s rendition of his song “Because of English.”
A brief appearance is also made by Cubana Chief Priest.
The artistic tribute honors its high-life roots. Chimezie mimics Davido’s dance steps in a moving scene, which many viewers claim best embodies the spirit of artistic integrity and cultural continuity.
One of the standout tracks from the highlife veteran’s eponymous 2018 album is Chimezie’s “With You,” which gives thematic and rhythmic inspiration to the song.

The song addresses a child’s punishment for not speaking English and raises further issues of linguistic marginalization.
In a now-viral FaceTime conversation a few weeks before their physical meeting, Davido said, “I used inspiration from your song, Because of English, for the most recent hit I just did with Omah Lay.” It’s “trending everywhere, the entire world”
As Davido expressed his gratitude to him in Lagos, Chimezie reacted, “Okay, that would be wonderful, that would be nice,” with Chimezie clearly elated.
The two artists eventually met on May 19 in Lagos, where they physically connected—a symbolic fusion of two generations of Nigerian music.
Many have attributed the renewed interest in Davido’s public tribute to Chimezie’s agreement to Sony Music Publishing West Africa.
Dikeh Dikeh, a content creator whose comic reenactments of Chimezie’s reaction to Davido’s song also went viral in May, further boosting the legend’s relevance among Gen Z audiences, recently heightened the interest in the legend.
On his fifth studio album, 5ive, Davido includes his song “With You.” It is one of 17 tracks.
The singer is also getting ready for his July 5ive Alive tour.

Messy singer Lola Young is said to have been ‘in tears’ after struggling with technical difficulties while performing on stage for this year’s Capital FM Summertime Ball. The 24-year-old singer performed a few songs at the event at Wembley Arena in London this weekend, but her earpiece stopped working while she was on stage.
While trying to get the earpiece to work, she told the crowd: “Sorry guys my ears are going in and out. Can I get some new ears?” She tried to continue without the earpiece but couldn’t keep in time with the band, so she eventually asked the audience: “Sing along please.”

“It’s like they’re doing it on purpose,” Lola told her fans after a few attempts of performing without hearing anything from her earpiece.
After finishing her set, she walked off the stage in frustration. In a video taken by an audience member, Lola could be seen looking distressed from the mishap as she put her face into her hands while a few others stood by her.
One person wrapped their arm around her as two others seemingly comforted her. She then slowly walked off to a different corner of the area and leaned her arms on what looked to be a box.

One user commented: “I really don’t see how people can hate on someone for this? It was a sound issue and the crowd loved her still, I feel bad for her but she was one of the best acts!”
Another said: “Bless her,” and one concerned fan posted: “If someone doesn’t hug that girl.” The Mirror have reached out to Lola’s reps for comment.

Earlier in the show, fans were shown a statement from organisers on the screens. It read: “We have had to pause the show temporarily. Please remain in the stadium. We hope to restart shortly. Thank you.”

Pik-Sen Lim, an actress, passed away at the age of 80.
In the 1970s comedy Mind Your Language, Pik-Sen gained notoriety as Chung Su-Lee, but she later made her first appearance on Doctor Who’s The Mind of Evil.
Actor Daniel York Loh paid tribute to her on Instagram by sharing his grief over her passing, saying, “An iconic figure in so many ways, I’d seen her on TV in Mind Your Language amongst other things.
She was so kind, funny, brilliantly scabrous, and completely honest about the garbage that this industry produces in the way that few other people actually try to cape it.
We’ll miss you a lot, but we’re grateful to Pixi for giving us a sense of her beauty.
Pik-Sen Lim at the Vampire Academy
Pik-Sen was born in British Malaya and immigrated to the United Kingdom when he was 16 to pursue an acting career. At the convent school in Penang, she was known as “Pixie” because she was the daughter of the palm oil millionaire Lim Cheng-Teik.
Although her family had not supported her acting ambitions, she started securing roles in television programs like Emergency Ward 10 as a nurse in the 1960s. She also met her husband, the actress Don Houghton, who she married in 1968.
In 1971, she appeared in her husband’s scripted Doctor Who film The Mind of Evil. In addition to speaking in an exaggerated Chinese accent on Mind Your Language, Pik-Sen also appeared in three seasons of the television show.
Pik-Sen also appeared as a sidekick in David Walliams and Matt Lucas’ Albion Market (1985), Night and Day (2003), Arabian Nights (2000), The Bill (2005), and even Little Britain.
Barnaby Edwards, who directed her for Big Finish, also remembered the actress fondly along with her daughter Sara, who later became an actress. “Calling me Pixie’ Lim is my enduring memory,” he said of the utter delight she eluded those of us fortunate enough to work with her.
She performed the role of the responsible adult, Pixie the misty child, and Sara, her daughter, Sara, was the sweetheart. And nowhere else did this disorder become more evident than during the wildtrack session at the end of the day.
He continued, “How fortunate the world was to have her in it.”
She was incredibly talented, compassionate, and motherly, according to former artistic director Chang An Ting, who we will always remember with gratitude and love.

Jason Isaacs, a “global icon” on a movie set who was “the worst bully ever,” has claimed that he was terrorized by them, but he says he won’t ever reveal their identity.

British actor Jason Issacs, best known for his work in the Harry Potter films and HBO series The White Lotus, has been revealing all about some disappointing on-set secrets. In a recent interview, the 62-year-old recalled an unpleasant encounter with a renowned actor on one of his projects.
The actor, who has appeared in major motion pictures like Armageddon, Black Hawk Down, and Peter Pan, called the Hollywood A-lister “the worst bully ever and a global icon.”
“Did all the old tricks” and gave off-camera performances that were completely different. When Isaacs looked back on his time working with the unnamed star, “Yeah, it sucked.” It was unlike anything I’d ever seen. I would have licked the ground that this person walked on before.
In the most recent episode of The White Lotus, Jason Isaacs portrayed Timothy Ratliff, a wealthy businessman who was dealing with a scandal.
Isaacs also admitted to Vulture that he has had to work with several actors on set whom he didn’t particularly enjoy working with. However, he made it clear that he would never disclose the identities of these actors – stating “acting is all about secrets.”
In the same interview, Issacs claimed that Mel Gibson, a controversial actor, was not his friend, but that they “text each other once in a blue moon.” Isaacs, who starred alongside Gibson in the 2000 film The Patriot, claims that his former co-star has “said and done some things that are unconscionable and unforgivable.”

Following his notorious 2006 arrest for drunk driving, during which he launched an vile anti-Semitic tirade, he recalled to the publication how he didn’t want to see Gibson.
Isaacs explained: “I was invited by my friend to some charity cricket event for Australians in film. And he said, ‘If you come, Mel will.’ And I said, ‘I don’t want to see Mel.’ I hadn’t seen him since that terrible anti-Semitic outburst when he got stopped by the police.”
The Jewish actor eventually consented to attend the event, and he feels “eternal shame” that when he and 69-year-old Mel crossed paths, he “forgave him instantly” after a heartfelt exchange.

Mel was present, and he called “Jace” across the room, which he described as being very amiable. How are we doing, Rabbi Gibson? I asked. He said, “I was really drunk, man,” and he came up. I was attempting to hit or shoot me or something similar to him. I’m having a terrible time.
“And he proceeded to load some very personal things. Although he’s not one of my friends, I forgave him right away because he was vulnerable there, perhaps to my eternal shame.
However, Isaacs acknowledged that despite having sporadic contact with him, he still hasn’t fully understood what his former co-star actually feels. He continued to say that they occasionally exchange text messages despite not saying I forgive him.
Issacs mused, “I have no idea what to do about him.” But what if he knocked on my door tonight and said, “Look, my hotel has been canceled. Can I remain? I’d say, ‘ Yes’, probably. “
The 69-year-old star issued a lengthy apology following Mel’s arrest in 2006. He once said, “Anyone who thinks or makes any kind of anti-Semitic remark should not have any excuses or tolerance.” I’m sorry specifically to everyone in the Jewish community for the offensive and offensive words I used to a police officer the night of my DUI arrest.

Lauren Goodger, a former TOWIE star, has claimed that she detests her body and believes she has “ruined her looks” after going through a number of cosmetic surgery procedures.

Reality TV legend Lauren Goodger has heartbreakingly admitted she regrets some of her cosmetic surgery and currently hates her appearance. The Only Way Is Essex icon has confessed that she believes her cosmetic procedures have ‘ruined her looks’ and plans to reverse them.
When TOWIE debuted in 2010 and Lauren, 38, was first seen on television, she has since been in the public eye due to the way that cruel trolls have securitized her appearance.
Last month, the Essex native revealed she’s planning to remove her breast implants after 11 years, as she wants to feel like her ‘normal self’ again and go back to being ‘natural’.
Captioning a photo of herself in pink lingerie, Lauren told her Instagram followers: “11 years ago, I had a breast augmentation, one of the things I regret later in life. I had the perfect boobs… they have been great over the years but since being a mum and breastfeeding for one year they have now changed and I’ve always found they make me look bigger!

Also, they are heavy, and I miss my old boobs so much that I’ve found someone who I feel really interested in having my consultation with @marksolomos! I’ve wanted them removed for so long, but it’s the last thing I can do because I’ve been having anxiety surgery. “This is a HUGE step,” I said.

In a new interview, Lauren, who was once engaged to childhood sweetheart Mark Wright, reflected further on her past surgeries and admitted they’ve left her feeling that her body appears ‘abnormal’.
She claimed to want to go back to her previous appearance and that her “massive boobs and bum” make her appear larger than she actually is.
I’ve had surgery, and I’m embarrassed to admit it: I’m now detesting my fake boobs and bum. I don’t need these enormous boobs and massive bum because I think my body looks abnormal. All I can see in the mirror is lumps and bumps when I’m naked is “skinny.”
The reality TV star wants to embrace a more natural look(Image: Instagram/ @laurengoodger)
The reality TV star, who has three daughters with her ex-boyfriend Charles Drury and her late daughter Lorena who passed away in 2022, has previously discussed her “brazilian butt lift” (BBL) procedure that was performed in Turkey in 2017.
She wishes she could undo the surgery, which removed fat from various body parts and injected them into her buttocks. She told Closer magazine last year that she looked the “b****ks” when she had everything finished. I adored how my boobs looked in pictures and received so much attention. But I now regret not having anything. I want to know everything.

She lamented the physical discomfort and aesthetic issues brought on by her larger-than-life features, saying, “My bum and boobs make me look bigger and cause me pain. I want to go back to being natural and change everything.
Speaking to OK! magazine, the Celebrity Big Brother and Dancing on Ice star revealed that she hasn’t had fillers for more than two years, although she opts for Botox thrice annually. Lauren also explained how she abstains from alcohol, cigarettes, vaping, and caffeine, aiming to lead a ‘healthier and happier’ lifestyle.
