Prince William interrupted BBC Radio 2 by leaving a voicenote with a cheeky warning about a stunned guest. The Prince of Wales recorded the message for the Scott Mills Breakfast Show – to highlight the Earthshot Prize – a global environmental award of which he is founder and president.

Also appearing on the show this morning was conservationist and presenter Robert Irwin, who was in the studio with Mills to answer voicenotes with animal-themed questions from children. Irwin, who is the son of the late Australian conservationist Steve Irwin, was told by Scott there was just one voice note left to be played and was shocked to hear that it was none other than William.

“Good morning, Scott, or should I say G’day, Scott,” William remarked. Robert Irwin, a fantastic ambassador for the Earthshot Prize, is on the show this morning, I’m sure of it. Sorry, I’m having trouble with you both this morning. I’m hoping to catch up with you soon.

The prince continued, “You’re very much invited to the Earthshot Prize in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in November. A fantastic event and fantastic show are on hand. Scott, beware that Robert enjoys bringing random, frightful animals and things out of his pockets while he’s on anyone’s show and conversing with them.

So, keep your back on the spot so a tarantula or other object doesn’t unexpectedly appear on your desk. But pay attention, enjoy your show, and look forward to meeting you both soon. “Goodbye.”

The message made Robert, an ambassador for the Earthshot Prize, laugh. He also discussed with Scott how to carry on his father’s commitment to conservation.

Each year, five winners are awarded the Earthshot Prize from a shortlist of 15. On its website, it describes Brazil as being a fitting place to host the prize in November, as it is home to more than half of the Amazon rainforest and nearly a fifth of the world ’s biodiversity.

William’s voice note for Irwin comes just days after he exclusively told the Mirror that the prince’s global mission to help save the planet is needed “more than ever before”.

The Australian, age 21, described how William’s environmental Earthshot Prize awards, which aim to develop and scale cutting-edge planet-saving solutions over the next ten years, have “brought” hope and an air of “urgent optimism” to communities around the world that are threatened by climate change.

Robert said in a exclusive interview, “I love being around passionate people. It inspires me. The prince is passionate, curious, and thoughtful in every way. I have the opportunity to participate in numerous stimulating discussions about the things that we adore about the world. And it’s obvious that he is deeply passionate about nature and the outdoors.

Robert, known around the world for continuing his father’s legacy by running Australia Zoo and highlighting global conservation efforts with his frequent TV appearances, last year became an ambassador for William’s project, helping to spread his message of hope.

He continued, “The Earthshot Prize really stands out as a global mission that inspires optimism.” Let’s be honest, we need hope more than ever. The project exemplifies a sense of urgency and suggests that we also need solutions to the pressing issues facing our precious planet.

Safiyya Vorajee opens up on toxic ex before Ashley Cain – ‘He hit me then stole my car’

Safiyya Vorajee has spoken to Married At First sight star, Paul C Brunson, about a past abusive relationship in which she claims she was physically assaulted and manipulated

Safiyya Vorajee has bravely spoken out about a toxic ex – who she met before Ashley Cain – on Paul C Brunson’s We Need to Talk podcast. Safiyya, 37, who tragically lost the daughter she shared with Ashely – Azaylia – to leukaemia when she was eight months old in 2021, said she was initially “love bombed” by her ex, who she stayed with for four years, until things took a very serious turn.

Telling Paul she ‘really wanted to be in a relationship’ before her ex began ‘constantly criticising her’, Safiyya said: “I’m like: ‘Oh my god like, yes, I found this guy.’ But then he started chipping away at me mentally without me even noticing. I just thought everything I was doing was wrong.”

Holding back tears, the dental nurse then shockingly claimed that her ex “whacked” her in the face after a disagreement in the car. Safiyya continued: “We were driving in the car, obviously I can’t remember what the conversation was about or disagreement was about, but then he just whacked me straight in the face and then I stopped the car he opened the car and pushed me out the car jumped into the driver’s seat and then I was just left and he drove off with my car.”

Despite Safiyya’s mum “begging” her not to go back to her ex after she found out about the violent incident, Safiyya admitted she returned and stayed with the man for four years.

Explaining that he told her how sorry he was and that he loved her, Safiyya said it wasn’t until she was approached by another woman, who told her that she too was seeing the man, that she found the strength to leave.

She shared: “I didn’t go mad at her. I didn’t do anything. I said to her: “Will you do me one favour? I’ve been in the worst place of my life for the last four years please can you come with me to my house and say this in front of him because no matter what you send to me what you give me he will manipulate me and tell me it’s me going crazy.”

Paul C Brunson
Paul asked Safiyya why she stayed in the relationship for so long(Image: We Need To Talk/Youtube)

After pretending not to recognise the woman, Safiyya’s ex “smashed all the kitchen cupboards” Safiyya said after she left the house, with the woman, who she “took safely back to her car.”

However, Safiyya returned to the house as she continued: “As soon as that door opened I literally thought he was coming to come and attack me in fact he was the opposite he’d sat there and told me it was because I work too much and he didn’t have anybody to spend time with and I was like ‘Wow wow’, I am not buying this anymore.”

Safiyya ended up calling the Samaritans where she said she talked to a volunteer for two hours before finally leaving the home she shared with her ex, getting an injunction against him and giving a statement to the police for her “protection”.

When asked why she thought she stayed in the relationship for so long, the candid star heartbreakingly concluded: “I thought control meant love and the crazy thing about it is, I just can’t believe that’s what I thought love was.”

Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham’s marriage ‘solid’ amid claims she ‘doesn’t love him’

EXCLUSIVE: Nicola Peltz has been plagued by claims she no longer loves her husband, Brooklyn Beckha,m but sources have since dismissed the speculation

Sources close to Nicola and Brooklyn have hit out at claims she no longer loves him

Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham’s marriage is “solid” – despite claims she doesn’t love him. David and Victoria Beckham’s son recently shed light on their relationship as they celebrated a major milestone. The couple who tied the knot in 2022 have seen their marriage go from strength to strength in recent years, with the husband and wife recently purchasing a huge home in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles.

But while they’re happily in love, it’s been claimed that those close to Brooklyn no longer approve of actress Nicola, 30, with some even suggesting that the wannabe chef and photographer may feel like a “hostage” in the marriage. On Tuesday, the 26-year-old took to social media to speak about his wife.

The couple were celebrating the fifth anniversary of their engagement, and to mark the occasion, Brooklyn took to Instagram to share a loved-up snap. London-born Brooklyn was seen planting a kiss on Nicola’s neck while she struck a striking pose for their picture.

Brooklyn wrote: “It’s been 5 years since I asked this beautiful woman to marry me xx best decision ever x I love you so much.” But while their picture which has racked up over 76,000 likes was flooded with praise, others were quick to suggest that Nicola didn’t love her husband because of her body language.

“Another picture of him kissing her while she was busy checking herself out,” said one. A second added: “Why does she always look like she’s more into herself than you?” “Wives come and go, your parents are forever,” said a third. “She looks like she loves you, too. After she has finished loving herself,” typed another.

But a source close to the couple has hit out at the claims and stated that the couple are stronger than ever. “For every unkind comment, there are just as many full of love, but people so often choose to dwell on the negative,” a source told the Mirror.

They went on to add: “Brooklyn and Nicola are solid, and the idea that a heartfelt anniversary post warrants this level of scrutiny is frankly a bit ridiculous. It’s disheartening to see so much energy spent trying to tear down a young couple simply enjoying their lives together. They want no part in the public’s narrative.”

Fans were quick to defend Brooklyn in the comments, with one writing: “A good man supports and stands beside his wife, always.” “Well done, it is always right to choose love, don’t let anyone get between you two,” said a second. Meanwhile, a third typed: “Literally, it’s no one’s business, but there’s. Let them be. Happy anniversary to the beautiful couple.”

“Team Brooklyn and Nicola, live your life and enjoy it,” gushed another. Many had hit out, branding Nicola “spoiled” by her parents after Nicola purchased a string of properties, with money gifted to her by her billionaire dad, Nelson and mum, Claudia.

Article continues below

Speaking to the Mirror, a source said: “Nicola doesn’t deny she’s had a fortunate life, and she’s grateful for it. But she’s also been working for over 20 years, and now writes, directs, and produces her own projects. Her parents are proud to support their children, and the idea that this reflects poorly on them simply doesn’t hold up.

“Calling her spoiled is false. For her wedding, she requested donations to support Ukraine instead of gifts, and she runs Yogi’s House, a rescue that saves dogs from euthanasia in shelters. These one-sided and false attacks have gotten out of hand.” It comes as David and Victoria have been accused of apparently not providing financially for Brooklyn.

Lewis Capaldi is set to return to Glastonbury Festival after two years away with a secret set this weekend, according to a music industry source. The singer last took to the Somerset stage in 2023, shortly after which he took a break from performing for his mental health.

Now, a music industry source has told The Mirror that Lewis Capaldi is among some of the huge stars who will be secretly performing at this year’s Glastonbury festival. The iconic British festival kicks off this weekend, with gates set to open tomorrow morning. The source revealed to The Mirror that Lewis will be taking to the Pyramid Stage at 4.55pm on Friday for a secret set, while pop star Lorde is taking to Woodsies at 11.30am that morning.

The Mirror has reached out to Glastonbury and Lewis Capaldi for comment.

Glastonbury goers have been convinced that Pulp will be performing a secret set since the official line-up was revealed earlier this month. Many suspected that the band may behind the mysterious Pyramid Stage act ‘Patchwork’.

SecretGlasto – which is known for revealing secret set acts – even posted the reveal earlier this month with a video compilation set to their 1995 hit Common people.

Speaking ahead of this year’s festival, Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis told Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac: “I’ve been working on Patchwork for a long time.” She added that planning their appearance had taken about a year for “logistical” reasons.

Earlier today, The Mirror revealed that headliner Neil Young is still wrangling with the BBC over their coverage of his Saturday night performance. Insiders told us that they suspect he will agree to let just a handful of songs to go out on TV and BBC iPlayer after he pulled out of the festival earlier this year over concerns about the BBC’s “corporate control”.

He said: “We were told that BBC was now a partner in Glastonbury and wanted us to do a lot of things in a way we were not interested in. It seems Glastonbury is now under corporate control and is not the way I remember it being.”

The singer later reversed his Glastonbury boycott, saying on his website: “Due to an error in the information received, I had decided to not play the Glastonbury Festival, which I always have loved. Happily, the festival is now back on our itinerary and we look forward to playing. Hope to see you there!”

Sean Combs Trial Approaches Final Stretch

Both teams are expected to resume their cases as soon as Tuesday as Sean “Diddy” Combs’ highly public trial approaches its high-profile trial.

The jury will be tasked with deciding the fate of the music mogul, who faces life in prison, if found guilty, on Thursday for closing arguments, which are tentatively scheduled to start.

The defense’s 34th and last witnesses are currently on the stand, and they said on Monday that they do not intend to call their own witnesses for testimony in Manhattan federal court.

The prosecution is tasked with proving guilt, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless jurors decide otherwise, so it’s not unusual for defense teams to choose not to proceed with a case.

Read more about the Combs Trial: Takeaways From The First Week of Testimony in Sean &#8216, Diddy &#8217.

In an effort to impose his dominance on an organization made up of high-ranking employees, including those who bribed, arson, and kidnapping, Combs and his allies used a web of witnesses, phone records, and travel arrangements to support his case for seven weeks of testimony.

The artist and businessman allegedly trafficked men and women for “freak-offs” or “hotel nights” of drug-fueled sexual marathons, sometimes days-long ones, for the prosecution.

Jurors have watched a number of sexually explicit videos during some of the events, and some of them were recorded.

Government attorneys are compiling reams of text messages and other records for jurors to review, along with photos of dozens of freak-offs, which they claim also reveal prostitution and trafficking arrangements.

The 55-year-old denies the accusations.

No defense defense witnesses?

The defense’s choice to not summon witnesses may indicate that they believe their inquiries into government witnesses may have exposed enough of a Combs case.

It could also indicate that no witnesses have been contacted to provide assistance.

They did state that they would be preparing to testify before resting on some matters.

What the prosecution has called sex trafficking, according to Combs’ attorneys, was mutual.

Three women gave detailed accounts of terrifying abuse that ranged from sexual to physical to emotional.

In a civil lawsuit filed by Combs’ girlfriend Casandra Ventura in 2023, which was settled in court without a hearing, the singer opened the floodgates to a ferocious stream of accusations against the once-powerful music industry powerhouse.

She testified in the trial’s key witnesses, and witnesses to the trial’s trial repeatedly received infamous surveillance footage of Combs beating and dragging Ventura viciously in a hotel.

In exchange for the disturbing tape, which CNN published last year, a hotel security guard claimed to have received $100, 000 in a brown paper bag from Combs.

Jurors are not sequestered, but they are instructed not to consume any media related to the case every day, which is a formidable task given how prevalent news of the trial has become on both traditional and social media.

Benidorm cast now from co-star bitter divorce and career change to cancer tragedy

Plans for Benidorm to reportedly return to screens could be thwarted thanks to a ‘miserable’ split – but what have some of the stars of the iconic sitcom got up to since the show came to an end?

The divorce has reportedly put a spanner in the works for a Benidorm reboot(Image: ITV / Tiger Aspect)

The highly anticipated reboot of Benidorm has been thrown into doubt after the creator’s tricky divorce from one of the show’s biggest stars, it has been reported.

Derren Litten was married to Jake Canuso, who plays Lothario Matteo in the ITV comedy, but their marriage ended in 2023. The relationship between them is said to be tense, seeing reports of a comeback now hanging in the balance.

The sun-soaked hit comedy aired for 10 series from 2007 to 2008 with a beloved cast featuring the likes of Johnny Vegas, Tim Healy, Steve Pemberton and Siobhan Finneran. A Listers, including Dame Joan Collins and late Will and Grace star Leslie Jordan, also made surprise appearances.

Derren said on X last year: “I don’t really talk about my personal life here but the reason I’ve been a bit scarce on the socials is for the last 18 months I’ve been going through a pretty miserable divorce. So I’m obviously poor now. And you thought we couldn’t have more in common then we already do?!”

A source told The Sun: “Matteo is Benidorm, he’s the character that everyone wants to see. He’s been part of the Solana since the beginning so for him not to feature in any future reboot, well it just would not be the same without him. Jake created one of the show’s most loved characters in Matteo but with everything that’s happened between him and Derren, it’s not looking good.”

Article continues below

Another insider said: “Conversations have been had. The only way Jake will return is if ITV make him a huge offer, one that he could not possibly turn down. But obviously Derren is making negotiations difficult. He is the writer and creator and believes that he should make all the decisions – the fans would want to see Matteo, which ITV get. It’s all become one big headache.”

The majority of big-name stars left before the show was cancelled, so there are no guarantees as to who would make up the new lineup. So as reports swirl about the show’s possible return, the Mirror takes a look at what became of some of Benidorm’s most memorable stars…

Danny Walters

The 32-year-old actor, from Essex, played Tiger Dyke on the ITV sitcom from 2014 to 2017. However, Danny Walters made a big change when he left the comedy and joined BBC One soap opera EastEnders in the role of hunky Keanu Taylor.

As part of the raucous Taylor clan, Keanu quickly became embroiled in chaos but his big storyline saw him begin an affair with Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) while dating her step-daughter Louise (Tilly Keeper) – later fathering a child with each of them.

Danny remained on EastEnders until he quit in 2019, with Keanu’s final scenes airing in early 2020. In a shock twist, Danny returned to the soap in December 2022. One year later his character was killed off on Christmas Day 2023 as part of the famous ‘The Six’ storyline which saw Linda Carter kill him during an altercation.

After the end of his run with Benidorm, Jake collaborated once more with Derren on his BBC One sitcom Scarborough, playing the role of Tony Peroni in the 2019 series. Jake is currently offering paid personalised messages as Mateo via the video service Memmo.
