Three years ago, Fiona Phillips was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s before her husband, Martin Frizell, left his job as the boss of This Morning to look after her

Martin Frizell has given a heartbreaking insight into Fiona Phillip’s life now after her devastating Alzheimer’s diagnosis three years ago. Fiona, 64, initially thought her symptoms, including brain fog, anxiety and a lack of interest in her marriage, were due to menopause until she was told she had the neurodegenerative condition, which tragically took the lives of both her parents.

Martin, 66, who last year gave up his job heading This Morning to look after his wife, who he wed in 1997, has admitted that Fiona – with whom he shares two sons – now needs ‘a lot of help’, including with showering, washing her hair, brushing her teeth and getting dressed.

Opening up about Fiona’s daily routine, he writes in her upcoming memoir: Remember when? My Life With Alzheimer’s, which is being serialised in the Mail: “It is January 2025 as I write this, and Fiona needs a lot of help.

“She needs help showering and brushing her teeth. She can do these things physically, but is unable now to think about how she should do them…

“I wash Fiona’s hair because she wouldn’t know what shampoo or conditioner to use or how wet her hair needs to be or that she must rinse the soap suds out afterwards…

“And most nights I’ll say, ‘Right, we need to brush our teeth before we go to bed,’ and I’ll put the toothpaste on the brush and hand it to her.”

Martin explains that while Fiona can dress herself, she doesn’t do it “correctly” and sometimes puts things on the wrong way round.

He also reveals his wife becomes very fond of one piece of clothing and will want to wear it “over and over again.”

Admitting that Fiona, who was one of the UK’s most in-demand presenters, hosting GMTV for more than decade, is “still very stubborn”, Martin, heartbreakingly, concedes she doesn’t like being told what to do and “rails against it”.

Fiona recently admitted she had no idea she was suffering from Alzheimer’s before her diagnosis three years ago. The former GMTV star, initially put her symptoms, including brain fog, anxiety and a lack of interest in her marriage down to menopause. However, three years ago she was tragically told that she had the neurodegenerative disease, which both her parents suffered with.

Following Fiona’s diagnosis, Martin quit his job at This Morning after 10 years in 2024, saying he ‘expected his priorities to change’.

He announced: “Next year I’m expecting my family priorities to change so I need to free up time for them. I love my team at ITV and will miss them and the thrill of live telly but it’s an always on, 24 hours a day, seven days a week commitment and I won’t be able to do both.”

Oasis fans travelling to their concerts at Heaton Park have been issued a travel warning. Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher will return to their hometown this weekend for the start of five sold-out concerts, playing to 80,000 fans each night. But with such demand comes increased pressure on public transport.

Ticket platform Trainline has seen a 20 per cent increase in passengers travelling to Manchester ahead of Oasis’ historic Heaton Park shows. They say this surge suggests thousands of music fans will travel from all corners of the UK to see the Gallagher’s reunion in their home town. Some towns and cities have sold more than double the usual number of tickets ahead of the Gallagher brothers’ first homecoming concert on Friday.

The band kicked off their historic reunion tour in Cardiff last week. The biggest uplift in bookings to Manchester came from Norwich with a 115 per cent increase, Leeds with 107 per cent and Aberdeen with 98 per cent. Sarah Helppi, UK Country Director at Trainline, said: “Rock’n’ rail is a perfect combination. Thousands of music fans are travelling by train to be part of an iconic summer moment. If you’re joining the tour in the band’s hometown, book as soon as possible to secure a seat.”

One fan travelling from London, Erin Archer, said: “My boyfriend booked our train to Manchester on Trainline as soon as we got the Oasis tickets—it was all done in minutes. It’s made the whole thing feel so easy and stress-free.

“Now we can just look forward to the gig, enjoy the build-up, and soak up every second of Oasis back in their hometown!” But that’s not the only warning fans have been given. Temperatures across Manchester are expected to soar on Friday and Saturday when the legendary band are playing, which will no doubt create a biblical atmosphere.

Experts suggest that thermometers are set to hit almost 30 degrees this weekend. Currently, the chance of rain stands at less than 5 per cent across the entire weekend. The Met Office states that Friday, temperatures could hit as high as 27 degrees at its peak around 4pm, while the lowest, at 4am will be 15 degrees. At 1pm, there will be an orange warning, signifying a level 7 exposure of UV, meaning those in attendance will require sunscreen.

But as the gig comes to an end, the temperature will drop slightly to a more moderate 22 degrees. On Saturday, for the second sold-out show, the weather will continue to pick up and shows signs that it will not be cooling down any time soon.

Instead, the lowest temperature at 4am, will be 18degrees, while the peak, between 4pm and 7pm will be 27 degrees. Despite the staggering temperatures, the highest UV warning will be at 1pm, which is a level 7. The BBC says of the upcoming weather on Friday: “Friday should then be dry with sunshine throughout the day. Becoming very warm or hot.”

Oasis will perform at Heaton Park on July 11, 12, 16, 19 and 20. Marco Petagna, senior meteorologist at the Met Office, explained that the weather will start to turn balmy on Wednesday, with dry conditions returning after several areas were plunged under thunderstorm warnings last night. The expert said: “I think Wednesday is probably going to be the day when we could start to reach the thresholds of 25 to 28 degrees, depending on where you are.”

He added: “We probably won’t actually reach an official heatwave until around Friday, to give the three consecutive days at those temperatures. But temperatures are going to continue to climb as we go toward the end of the week, and certainly, by Friday and Saturday, we could see 30 degrees, perhaps just nudging into the low 30s.

“At the weekend, we could just start to see humidity increasing a little bit as well and nighttime temperatures look like they are going to be, so it will be starting to become more uncomfortable by night. It’s a bit of a question mark going through the weekend early next week as to how long the heat will last and how high the temperatures will get because some models are sort of pushing the heat away a bit more quickly, whereas others keep the heat going.

“At this stage, it looks as though certainly into next weekend, we should hold on to hot weather across the south of the UK, and temperatures could again certainly get into the low 30s in a few spots.”

Kris was in the French capital with her boyfriend Corey Gamble when she showed off her longer fringed bob look. Giving 70s vibes, the new style complemented the reality star’s new facelift.

Wearing a fitted long-sleeved black dress with a statement collar, Kris held on to a small black Hermès handbag for her trip out. She paired the looked with open-toed black heels, while her man also opted for a black outfit of his own.

#The outing comes after she publicly thanked her surgeon a decade after having a facelift. She followed daughter Kylie Jenner in admitting her surgery. While Kylie has opened up about her boob job op in 2018, mum Kris quickly thanked the surgeon for his work on her too.

Following Kylie’s endorsement on Instagram, Dr Garth Fisher thanked the star. He wrote: “I’m honoured to be acknowledged by Kylie—her kind words were unexpected but truly appreciated.

“Patient confidentiality has always been the foundation of my practice. Over 3 decades, we’ve never had a single breach. My entire team is thoroughly trained and bound by strict NDAs and confidentiality agreements. This is more than policy—it’s our culture.”

He went on to reference HIPAA (patient privacy) laws and why he will never discuss a client’s procedures without their permission, adding: “Every patient is unique. This isn’t ‘cookbook’ surgery—it’s thoughtful, personalised care.”

And in the comments section to his message of thanks, Kris also said: “”Garth you are such a superstar class act. You did my first facelift in 2011… 14 years ago!!! and made it the most amazing experience ever and even gave us access to film so that others could get a peek inside what it’s like and not be afraid…

“You have taken great care of us always and remain such a close and treasured friend!! Such an incredible talent!!”

And the latest of the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star’s procedures is said to have been “riskier” than others. The momager’s rep had confirmed to Page Six that she underwent aesthetic enhancements from a plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Levine, before her 70th birthday.

While it wasn’t confirmed exactly what procedures she underwent, some have claimed she underwent a deep place facelift. Others, though, think it could be a regular SMAS procedure. Dr Norman Rowe recently explained the differences between the two procedures, saying how they can range from five to six figure sums to complete.

Speaking about the risks, he said to The Sun: “I think, honestly, still, the majority of people out there doing facelifts are probably doing SMAS. It’s still kind of like the go-to technique.

“It ultimately depends on the surgeon’s comfort in doing that deep plane to that point. I’ll be honest, it is a little bit more risky than, say, a SMAS.”

He added to the publication: “The only way to know [what Kris had done] is to look at her five or 10 years from now. If she still looks good, it’s probably a deep plane … if she starts to show little signs of aging. Probably wasn’t.”

Former Love Island star Maura Higgins turned heads with her striking new look as she posed for snaps in a leather outfit at the weekend’s British Gran Prix in Silverstone

Maura Higgins has shown off her fantastic new look – but it has got people confusing her with other famous faces. The former Love Island star, 34, took to Instagram to showcase he bold new appearance and was met with an influx of positivity.

She was attending the British Grand Prix at the weekend at Silverstone when she surprised with her dramatic change. She posed trackside at the event as she looked to have revealed she had chopped off her dock locks.

Unveiling her new striking style, Maura sported an edgy short hair cut as she beamed for the snaps. Taking to social media, Maura said she was “back on the grid” as she uploaded images of her in leathers.

In one black-and-white shot, she was looking to towards the track as she fully showed off the new style and gripped to a racing helmet. Another saw her waving a chequered flag while beaming and a third saw her strike a pose with the track in the background.

The I’m A Celebrity alum also shared a video of her from the day. However, it turned out the look was in fact a wig as she joined forces with hair brand TRESemmé. But that didn’t stop her followers commenting with delight on the new look.

Among them was fellow former Islander Faye Winter, who wrote: “Wow my favourite look of ALL TIME”. American reality TV star Colton Underwood also shared his appreciation with three flame emojis.

“I thought it was Kris Jenner at first glance”, wrote another follower. And many seemed to agree as they liked the user’s comment. “Looking really beautiful Maura”, gushed another alongside a number of love heart emojis.

Her new look wasn’t the first time Maura has experimented with wigs. Earlier this year at Coachella the Irish beauty wore a bold dark red fringed wig.

At the same festival she also changed things up with another striking style, too. She changed into a long straight blonde wig as she opted for a western themed look.

Since finding fame on Love Island, Maura continued to make a name for herself on television. As well as her appearances on UK television, Maura became the host of Love Island US.

And in her bid to fully break into the United States, Maura has landed a major new show. She is set to take part in the upcoming series of The Traitors USA and will join the likes of Real Housewives Lisa Rinna, Porsha Williams, Dorinda Medley and Candiace Bassett.

Maura will also rub shoulders with Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce’s mum Donna, while Big Brother stars Ian Terry and Tiffany Mitchell will also appear. Survivor’s Rob Cesternino and Yam Yam Arocho have been named to take part alongside The Amazing Race winner Natalie Anderson too.

Others on the list include The Bachelor’s Colton Underwood, Dancing with the Stars pro Mark Ballas, RuPaul’s Drag Race’s Monét X Change, figure skater Johnny Weir and singer Eric Nam.

Black Sabbath icon Ozzy Osbourne performed his final show over the weekend as the world’s biggest rock and metal stars got together for the Back to the Beginning super show

The Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne, met Guns N’ Roses icon Axl Rose for the first time during the epic Back to the Beginning super show in Birmingham over the weekend, which saw the world’s biggest rockers and metal stars unite for Ozzy’s final-ever show with Black Sabbath.

During the show, Ozzy, 76, had the opportunity to meet ‘legend’ Axl backstage. He took to his Instagram page to reveal how it went as she shared a snap of them shaking hands. He wrote: “My first time meeting Axl Rose, at my age you don’t get to meet many legends, seriously an utter gentleman.”

Ozzy also posed with Axl and Slash for another epic photo, which delighted fans in the comment section.

Axl also took to his social media to share his excitement over the entire event. He wrote: “Wow!! What an EVENT!! Extremely overwhelming!! Really great crowd!! Was very emotional for everyone!! MET OZZY!! (Crazy we’d never met b4!!) He was really great!! Was great to meet Sabbath! !

” Was hard as I imagine for anyone to watch his struggles while at the same time everyone was rooting for him n ‘ massively respecting the challenges he took head on n ‘ HE DID IT!!!! “

The 63-year-old continued:” Was great to meet Ozzy’s family n ‘ see friends n ‘ peeps in all the bands n ‘ the business. A HUGE THANK YOU again to Ozzy, Sharon, Black Sabbath n ‘ all the fans for having us!! “

During their set, Guns N ‘ Roses paid tribute to Black Sabbath by covering a few of their classic before performing their own hit tracks, Welcome to the Jungle and Paradise City.

Ozzy’s fans have declared the show as an end of an era as he performed his final show. His health issues became clear to fans as they helped him get through the set.

It left Rakkan, from Saudi Arabia but travelled from London, saying:” I’m conflicted. He’s obviously enjoying himself but it’s sad to see him in this physical state. It feels like an end of an era. “

Over on Twitter, one fan wrote:” Feel a bit sorry for Ozzy being wheeled out like that. He clearly isn’t fit and well. “” I feel bad for Ozzy. Yeah it’s his last ever live show but it’s kinda gross how a visibly unwell man is being wheeled out like this by Sharon, “another mused.

A third wrote:” Very sad, Ozzy in a goth wheel chair. “However, some loved it.

” As much as I am against this final Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath show, the videos I’ve seen on Twitter and Youtube, Ozzy sounds a lot better than I expected, “one declared online.

A Gogglebox star has died following a heartbreaking battle with dementia. Emily Silbery, known as Emmie, who appeared on the Australian show, died at the age of 96, her granddaughter Isabelle has announced.

Sharing a moving tribute, Isabelle said: “Our Emmie waited for me to come home for one last snuggle. Her last words: ‘ I’m ready to hang up now. ‘” She added: “She was 96, an orphan, a nurse, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, the oldest woman on TV, a great-grandmother, an author and so much more. Thank you for loving her as much as we did and will forever. Have a big rest now – you deserve it. Xxxxx”.

Co-stars have rushed to offer their condolences, with Lee and Keith’s, Lee saying: “Our hearts are so heavy with sadness. Emmie was our adopted grandmother to Keith and I as we lost our grandparents years ago.

” You told us so many stories about your life and now they are memories for us to keep. Rest in peace, sweetheart, you’ll never be far from our hearts. Love ya Emm. “

Angie Kent typed:” Beautiful Emmie. Words can’t describe what you meant to so many of us. Thank you for the countless laughs, tears, goosebumps and memories! Rest now. Your girls are so loved and looked after. “

Meanwhile, Weekend Sunrise star Lisa Wilkinson said:” I’m so sad to hear the news Isabelle. What a beautiful, talented, giving soul she was, and so loved by us all. I hope she knew that. Glad you got that last snuggle. Sending love to you and your wonderful mum. “

Make-up artists Kellsie Bain commented:” Sorry to hear. Thinking of you and your mum, especially. It was a pleasure getting to do emmies make up, I’m having a giggle over her taking the hotel biscuits and teabags home. “

Married At First Sight’s Jules Robinson also offered her condolences, saying:” I’m so sorry for your loss. I loved when I met her, she was so fabulous and welcomed This crazy woman all excited to meet her! I LOVED your book together and her stories of growing up.. She will be so missed. What an amazing life. “

Emmie joined the programme in season three, alongside her daughter Kerry and Isabelle, filmed from their home in Melbourne. But Emmie stepped down from the show in 2023 at the start of season 17 after being diagnosed with dementia. She later moved into a care home.

Kerry and her daughter Isabelle were eventually joined by Isabelle’s daughter, Ruby, for their final appearance in 2024 before the family left the show.

During an appearance on The Project, Kerry and Isabelle opened up about Emmie’s diagnosis, with Kerry saying the” hardest part “was informing her mum that she wouldn’t appear on the show anymore.

She said:” She said why not, and we said you’ve got dementia and she said I’m perfectly alright, there’s nothing wrong with me, I’m not ga-ga. “Isabelle added:” This is real life. Emmie is no longer able to do the show, and we wanted to be really transparent about that and not have her disappear off the couch. “

The mother and daughter made the decision to leave the chair Emmie sat on in the shot while they filmed from their home in her honour. Isabelle later became emotional as she recalled the” long goodbye “due to her nan’s dementia battle.

She said:” Sometimes I really wish that she’d just go, because she’s not the same. It’s just really hard. “Dementia is a neurological condition which impacts memory, thinking and behaviour. While there is no cure for the sad condition, there are medical interventions which can help slow down the progression.
