Dolly Parton’s sister has asked fans to pray for the country singer amid her “health challenges”.

Freida Parton, 68, said she was “up all night praying” for Dolly, who recently announced she was postponing her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace following the health concerns. The 79-year-old musician since told fans on social media: “I just need a little time” to recover.

But Freida’s update has sent fans into a frenzy, with many turning to X to share their worry for Dolly, whose career has spanned more than six decades and seen here pick up 11 Grammy Awards. One fan posted: “I need Dolly Parton to be ok.” Another shared: “My thoughts and prayers are with Dolly Parton.” A third stated: “Please protect Dolly Parton forever.” Another fan posted: “Really hoping her health improves.”

In full, Freida’s Facebook posted said: “Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly. Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.

“She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”

This has led to the emotional outpouring of love for Dolly, also a songwriter, actress and philanthropist who released her first of 50 studio albums, Hello, I’m Dolly, in 1967. Others on X expressed their hope for Dolly, while some recalled times when they had seen the country singer perform live.

The entertainer, born in Pittman Center, Tennessee, had been due to perform six shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for Dolly: Live in Las Vegas in December, but she has rescheduled for September 2026.

Announcing the postponement of what would have been her first Vegas residency in more than 30 years, Jolene singer Dolly wrote on Instagram on September 29: “As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.

“As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon. In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.

One of the nations most beloved sitcoms, Gavin & Stacey, came to an end last year.

The hit English-Welsh comedy introduced us to hilarious and sweet characters, including family man and main character Gavin Shipman. But, creators James Corden and Ruth Jones have now revealed that Gavin almost had a very different ending.

Throughout the series, audiences watched as Gavin, played by Michael Horne, met the love of his life, Stacey West, played by Joanna Page. He married her only a few months into their relationship. As their marriage progressed, they faced highs and lows, but by the end, were happily married with three children.

However, lovable Gavin almost became the series’ villain as James and Ruth, who also played Smithy and Nessa, revealed that they planned for Gavin to have an affair.

“We had a sort of weird idea for the 2019 special, didn’t we?” James said when reflecting with Ruth on the Christmas special they created several years after the end of their show.

Ruth then replied, “Oh, about Gavin having an affair?” shocking the audience to their candid chat, which is part of an evening with the pair called When Gavin Met Stacey, put on to celebrate the release of a book by the same name.

James continued: “Yeah, or that he wasn’t having an affair but there was someone at his work who he liked.” Ruth explained that they chose not to do that as it felt like it didn’t fit with the show.

Gavin & Stacey launched on the BBC in 2007. Over three seasons and two Christmas specials, it became one of the nation’s most loved TV shows, with last year’s finale watched by 19.3 million people. The last episode was the most watched scripted show in over twenty years.

Ruth also confessed that the final episode was almost a film. “With the second special – the finale – we did consider making that as a movie because we wanted to do something different from what we’d done before.

“But then when we read it, we went, ‘No, it really belongs in people’s living rooms on Christmas night, when everyone’s eaten too much turkey and chocolate orange and they’re sat with friends and family.'”

James agreed: ““Lots of people kept saying, ‘You could make so much money. The Inbetweeners movie did this much money . . . ’ But we couldn’t shake that these ­people belong in the corner of your living room.”

They also revealed that there was very nearly another special years earlier. In honour of Comic Relief, the pair nearly penned a skit where the whole cast would be taking part in 2009.

Recalling the idea for the sketch, James said: “We had this idea that the whole cast were going to go to watch Comic Relief in the studio. Like, Mick had got some tickets because someone at work had spent the week in a bathful of beans and he can’t go, and do the Barry lot want to go?

“They got a minibus and it was going to be all this stuff like Gwen ended up on a cookery programme showing Jamie Oliver how to make an omelette. Gavin and Stacey got lost and ended up in the Blue Peter garden and decided to have sex.

“Bryn ended up on one of the phone-in Loose Women-type shows giving people advice on what to do. And Nessa keeps bumping into people that she’s slept with. She’d turn a corner and go, ‘Oh God, not another one,’ and it would be ­Dermot O’Leary going, ‘You never called me back!’”

But those plans were ruined by people’s schedules. James explained that everyone was busy doing different things, so ultimately the only part that made it in was a sketch where Smithy, Gavin’s best friend, was involved. In the clip, Smithy berates the England football team for their poor performance in 2009.

The Jolene singer, 79, recently postponed her six shows from her upcoming Dolly: Live in Las Vegas residency, with her sister now sharing an updates with fans on her personal Facebook page.

Along with a stunning photo of Dolly, Freida said: “Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly. Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.

Fans were quick to share their love and support, with one user writing: “Prayers being said. Sending love to you, Dolly and all the family,” and another posting: “Love you Dolly and will be in my prayers. Love you too Freida will also have you in my prayers.”

Another worried fan commented: “Praying for complete healing for Dolly! We serve an awesome God.”

In the last month, Dolly was forced to cancel a number of appearances as she focused on ‘healing’.

The star, who was also forced to pull out of her Dollywood appearance earlier last month, issued a statement explaining the decision to postpone her shows.

“I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts,” she wrote.

“As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.”

Dolly, known for her humour as much as her music, added a quip about the situation. She said she had joked with her doctors that it “must be time for my 100,000 mile check-up, although it’s the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon.”

“Given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you,” she said.

The Tennessee native said she would continue working on other projects from home in Nashville while she recovers.

“While I’ll still be able to work on all of my projects from here in Nashville, I just need a little time to get show ready, as they say,” she explained. “And don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet.

“But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you,” she wrote. “I love you and thank you for understanding.”

Ben Affleck was caught in an awkward moment at Jennifer Lopez’s film premiere was caught on camera. Following a mishap, the actor found himself stranded on stage and had to lurk there for over seven minutes.

The Oscar winning actor attended the film premiere of his ex Jennifer Lopez’s new film Kiss of the Spider Woman. The musical film had its first showing in New York City and was produced by Ben.

In his capacity as the film’s producer, Ben was ushered on stage while the director, Bill Condon was still giving a speech to the audience. He then spend more than seven minutes standing silently behind Bill, with his hands clasped – without the director even knowing he was there.

Ben was onstage so long, he had to put down the can of soda he’d brought with him, but he patiently waited for Bill to finish his speech. When the director finally turned around to leave the stage, seeing Ben lurking at the back made him jump.

“I didn’t know you were there!” Bill laughed. He then walked over and gave Ben a hug and invited Jennifer to join them onstage. Kiss of the Spider Woman is a musical about a political prisoner named Valentín (Diego Luna), who shares a cell with a man named Molina (Tonatiuh). They form an unlikely bond as Molina tells Valentín the plot of a Hollywood musical, starring his favourite actress Ingrid Luna (Jennifer Lopez).

Later, Ben was eventually able to share a few words: “I’m humbled and honoured to be standing up here. It’s an honour to be here. This movie is exquisite.”

The producer’s awkward moment is just the latest in a series of times where he has been snapped looking sad or uncomfortable. An image from 2016 of Ben in a blue jumper and jeans, looking bedraggled and weary, has now become a viral meme after it exploded across social media.

That particular picture became a symbol of quiet defeat for many, who would post it with the caption “Literally me” and recount something that made them sad.

The same year this photo was taken, Ben was also videoed at a press junket for Batman v Superman, looking down in the dumps while his co-star, Henry Cavill, answered a question. The clip was shared widely and eventually used in a parody video called ‘Sad Affleck’ where it was layered over with negative reviews of the film.

Ben has spoken about the memes. In a 2022 interview, he told the Los Angeles Times that they did not bother him, until his children started to notice them. “I got to a place where [the public’s view] was so different from who I am that I just stopped reading and stopped caring.

“But then, as my kids got older and started seeing the internet themselves, that’s the difficult part. Even the ‘Sad Affleck’ meme – that was funny to me. I mean, there’s nobody who hasn’t felt that way at a junket.

“But then my kids see it and I think, ‘Oh, are they going to think their dad is fundamentally sad or they have to worry about me?’ That’s really tough.”

Alongside providing the internet with a new meme, the Kiss of the Spider Woman premiere was a reunion for Ben and Jennifer. The pair were seen to be cozy together on the red carpet, despite no longer being in a relationship.

Ben and Jennifer were married for two years until the singer filed for divorce. The papers were finalised in January this year, and the premiere was the first time the pair have been seen together since then.

Love Island star Zachariah Noble is reportedly dating social media influencer Ava Hirons, three months after his split from Molly Marsh. Over the summer, TV personality Molly announced she had parted ways with Zach after falling for each other two years prior.

Molly and Zach met on the tenth series of the ITV2 show, which aired in 2023. They remained together after leaving the villa, but briefly separated last year before rekindling their romance months later. However, they ended things again in July, with Molly telling fans that they remain “friends”.

Three months later, it has been said Zach moved on with influencer Ava – who is the daughter of This Morning star Caroline Hirons.

The Mirror have reached out to Ava and Zach’s reps for comment.

After Zach and Molly split up, she took to her Instagram Stories to confirm the sad news, writing: “I just want to confirm the rumours. Myself and Zac have split up and are no longer together.

“We have parted ways as friends and thank you all for your love and support of our relationship over the past 2 years.”

A source told the Sun at the time that “nothing bad” had happened between them. The source said: “They just made the decision to split on a mutual basis. The pair have no bad blood between them and will continue to be friends.”

The source added that the exes wanted to “cherish” the memories that they made together. They concluded: “Sometimes relationships work, and sometimes they don’t but they want to continue to be friends and cherish the couple of years they have spent together and are both grateful for Love Island bringing them into each others lives.”

Molly and Zachariah were original islanders on Love Island in 2023, but the former’s time was cut short when she was dumped from the villa just weeks in. She left after Kady McDermott coupled up with Zachariah upon her arrival.

A twist for Casa Amor however saw Molly return just days after her departure. She then ended up recoupling with Zachariah and the pair later reached the final. They placed fourth, with Jess Harding and Sammy Root winning instead.

Jack Whitehall is helping to honour Nicholas Lyndhurt’s late son Archie via his new film that could help make Archie’s dreams come true

Jack Whitehall’s new film is paying tribute to Archie Lyndhurst, the late teenage son of Only Fools and Horses legend Nicholas Lyndhurst who died five years ago.

Jack first met Archie when they were both on sitcom Bad Education, playing the older and younger versions of inept teacher Alfie Wickers. But Archie’s true dream was to release clothing line from his streetwear label Fated To Pretend.

Now, Jack is said to be paying his respects to Archie by appearing in a cameo in a film that is launching the teen’s fashion label. In the film, which is called Come With One Heart and can be found on the label’s YouTube page, several models and skateboarders wearing Fated To Pretend clothing can be seen.

Towards the middle of the 6-minute clip, several shoppers queue outside a shop decked out in the label’s clothing and manned by a doorman, played by Jack.

A source said to The Sun: “Archie’s fashion brand was his big passion and his loved ones were determined to help see it flourish in his memory. A lot of hard work has gone into it and Jack was proud to play a small role.”

The video, which went up a day ago, also features Nikki Lilly, a model and actress who starred in the CBBC show Nikki Lilly Meets… where she interviews celebrities such as Andy Murray. Archie was also in a CBBC show called So Awkward.

At the time of his death, Archie was dating Nethra Tilakumara, his So Awkward co-star. He had also developed a close relationship with the Whitehall family, and delivered groceries to Jack’s parents when they were unable to leave their house during lockdown.

Sadly, in 2020, when Archie was only 19, he suffered a brain heamorrhage in his sleep and died. The heamorrhage was caused by acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

A few days later, Nicholas, who is most famous for playing Rodney on Only Fools and Horses, and his wife Lucy put out a statement saying they were “utterly grief stricken and respectfully request privacy”.

A month after Archie’s death, his girlfriend Nethra paid a tribute to Archie via her Instagram. She posted a video compiled from clips from throughout his life and wrote in the caption: “Working with Archie and knowing him as the wonderful, incredible person he is, was the best gift and a true blessing that I have ever received.”

She added: “He never knew how great he was but I have comfort in knowing the great ones never do. Thank you so much for coming on this journey with us.

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Archie loved telling stories and making people laugh…and boy did he succeed every single time X”
