Tina O’Brien praises daughter Scarlett Thomas’ talent after skipping GCSEs

Scarlett Thomas, a daughter of Coronation Street actress Tina O’Brien, has been praised for her singing prowess after the teen skipped her GCSEs to concentrate on a musical career.

Tina O’Brien has heaped praise on her daughter Scarlett Thomas over her singing voice after the teen skipped her GCSEs to pursue a career music. The Coronation Street star took to her Instagram to share a video of Scarlett, 16, singing a version of Tate McRae’s Tit For Tat.

Tina, 42, wrote, “Couln’t be prouder of Scarlett,” in the caption. She makes me feel so emotional because of her voice. One gorgeous little human has so much heart and power. Pure magic can be experienced as she develops into her own sound.

Scarlett has previously stated that she wants to follow in the footsteps of her well-known family and work in the show business and has regularly shared videos on TikTok singing. After beginning an acting career, she made the decision to skip her exams.

She first appeared on TV in 2023 in BBC drama Waterloo Road, where she played Izzy – the daughter of her real-life uncle, Adam Thomas. Scarlett’s famous family includes dad Ryan, who is also a Corrie star, while her other uncle, Scott Thomas, starred on Love Island.

However, Ryan has previously claimed that Scarlett is not getting a “free ride” because she is a “nepo baby” while her career is flourishing. Scarlett is expected to make up to £2 million before turning 18 and has a sizable following on social media.

She has 204, 000 Instagram followers and 142, 000 Instagram followers on the app, and a recent TikTok post that received almost three million views. She frequently appears on the social media accounts of her well-known relatives, including Lucy Mecklenburgh, Ryan’s ex-Towie star fiancée.

PR expert Lynn Carratt told The Sun: “It’s clear they’re a close-knit family who understand how to use social media effectively to build their careers. They capitalise on TikTok trends, and each member is talented in their own right.” She added: “Teddy is clearly talented, and it seems the children in the family will follow in their fathers’ footsteps.

Scarlett frequently appears in videos showcasing her acting and singing abilities with her parents and uncles. Both parents have talent, and Scarlett has benefited from it, in part because of it. She appears to be a confident, caring, and loving person who is close to her family.

She also explained how the “Thomas family videos strategically use each other’s personalities and showcase their skills to millions of viewers every day.”

Everyone thinks she gets a lift from family, getting on Waterloo Road, according to Ryan, who previously defended Scarlett’s career in entertainment.

“She worked damn hard to get that job, and people need to know that she’s a talented girl because she competes with other people and doesn’t get a free ride,” she said.

He continued, “She has to go through the same procedure as everyone else; it was between her and someone else.” It wasn’t like, “She’s going to get this job, Thomas,” as it was.

John Torode says ‘I feel blessed’ as he pays tribute to wife Lisa Faulkner

Celebrity chef John Torode and his wife Lisa Faulkner shared a sweet message from the former MasterChef host to his wife Lisa about their sixth wedding anniversary.

On social media, former MasterChef host John Torode and his wife Lisa Faulkner shared a heartfelt tribute to their wedding anniversary.

The celebrity chef, 60, and his actress spouse, 53, celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary, having exchanged vows back in October 2019. Posting a photograph from the pair’s big day, which took place at Aynhoe Park in Banbury, John penned an emotional message to his partner, describing her as his “rock” and his “best friend”. The snapshot captured the chef and the EastEnders actress positioned above their extravagant wedding cake, raising their arms triumphantly as they sliced into the confection.

Lisa donned a subtle, white bridal gown with delicate lace details around the neckline and shoulder straps, while John wore an elegant black suit with a crisp white shirt and a dark-toned tie.

Both Lisa and John displayed beaming grins as they gestured to their wedding guests from the top table where they were seated. The table featured a pristine white tablecloth and an array of colourful illuminated candles.

John wrote a message en route to the endearing image, saying “Happy Anniversary, my love, my rock, my best friend.” I consider myself to be your husband, @lisafaulknercooks, honoured! I’m in love with you so much, and the emoji read “I love you so much.”

While Lisa responded to John’s words with her own message, “Happy anniversary my John,” supporters and admirers flocked to the comments section to express their congratulations to the couple. Every day I smile thanks to you. And I sincerely love you. Every day I smile thanks to you. And I sincerely love you.

John responded with a heartfelt message, typing: “I feel so blessed,” and added a love heart emoji next to his words. Several celebrities took the time to congratulate the couple, with TV presenter Ruth Langsford commenting: “Happy Anniversary love birds!”

While Vicky Pattinson, a reality TV star, wrote, “Happy Anniversary, My Loves”. Additionally, users left messages saying, “You both look so happy. Congratulations, you both had a difficult year, but you both managed it. “Happy anniversary, hope you both have a special day,” and “Keep cooking” are also to be said.

Four years after their initial dating, on October 24, 2019, John and Lisa tied the knot. A ceremony was held at a stunning country estate in Northamptonshire for their closest friends and family. The couple hosted a pre-wedding dinner the night before their big day during the two days-long wedding celebrations.

Among the guests watching their friends say ‘I do’ were famous faces from the worlds of cooking and acting. Attendees included Waterloo Road star Angela Griffin, Emmerdale actress Nicola Stephenson, MasterChef’s Gregg Wallace and Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden.

Lisa telling HELLO!, the couple’s relationship began with an open conversation about how it all started. “I’ve always believed he was attractive,” he said. Happy John’s birthday. Every day I smile thanks to you. And I sincerely love you.

We only became friends after talking for a while, but he’s a good-looking bloke, but you can appreciate someone’s attractiveness without thinking, “Blimey.” I adore his company. Nonstop chatter is what keeps on going. He’s my ideal partner.

A challenging year for John and Lisa Their most recent wedding anniversary followed John’s departure from MasterChef, the BBC culinary programme he co-hosted with Gregg Wallace for nearly two decades.

The news that John’s contract with the long-standing series would not be renewed emerged earlier this summer, after an allegation of him using “an extremely offensive racist term” was upheld, as per the BBC. John claimed he has “no recollection” of it in an Instagram post he shared in July.

John responded to his resignation by saying, “I’ve been “sacked” from MasterChef, despite no information I have received from anyone at the BBC or Banijay.” I’ll say again that I don’t recall the accusations I’m facing. The inquiry couldn’t even identify the time and year that I’m alleged to have said something inappropriate.

I have enjoyed working on MasterChef every second, but it’s about to hand the utensils to someone else.

Cruz Beckham speaks out after ‘awkward’ Victoria and David moment

With the release of his new songs Optics and Lick The Toad, which have lyrics that might not appeal to his famous parents, Cruz Beckham is putting his talents to the music industry.

Cruz Beckham has finally spoken out after his “awkward” moment with parents Victoria and David. The 20-year-old is dipping his toe back into the music world as he has released his two new songs this week.

However, his parents might find it a little awkward to listen to his new songs’ theme. His new songs, Optics and Lick The Toad, feature sexy topics like drugs and sex.

It’s thought that Cruz may have to prepare himself for a potentially awkward conversation with his famous parents after releasing his especially explicit new single, Optics. But the singer has spoken out for the first time since releasing the risky track.

Taking to his Instagram story, Cruz shared a photo from the summer where he is standing proudly with his hands on his hips while wearing some white swimming briefs.

He then jokes by saying: “It’s a shame they didn’t recognise my gorgeous legs.” The raunchy music comes amid his relationship with Jackie Apostel, 30, who is a decade older than him, and they collaborated on the album and album cover together.

In Optics, he sings, “I love me some mushrooms, good head, and an erotic 69,” while taking a thousand selfies in your bed.

You want to know how it looks, I want to know how it feels, but the chorus continues, “Stay high fashion, no comedown, no crashing.” His second single, Lick The Toad, places a focus on “mother nature,” rather than making any less provocative lyrics.

“Madam, take a lick of you mother nature,” the phrase reads. Let me take a hit from your mother nature, Cruz says.

Cruz opened for The Royston Club in a string of intimate gigs, including a performance at East London’s iconic The George Tavern. On stage, Cruz and his band belted out a selection of his new tunes, including Optics, Caroline, For Your Love, and Lick The Toad.

He addressed the audience, saying, “This is truly special for me. I just want to say thanks to everyone who is present tonight. Cruz was a little hesitant at the time, but the crowd started to flutter for him once he started.

He certainly spent the summer listening to Oasis, he says. He can play the guitar, has a good voice, and his songs are all catchy. I would describe his indie landfill-style as catchy.

Cruz has a long history of success in the music business. His debut single, If Every Day Was Christmas, was released in 2016 and all proceeds went to a charity at the time.

Strictly star Gorka Marquez and fiancée Gemma Atkinson’s rare insight into parenting ‘chaos’

Gorka Marquez and Gemma Atkinson first met on Strictly in 2017. Eight years later, the couple, who are engaged, have two children, and have a new podcast, reveal the “beautiful chaos” of it all…

After just a short time in their company, it’s clear they’re very different as people, but work perfectly together. Radio DJ Gemma Atkinson, 40, and pro dancer Gorka Márquez, 35, are an entertaining double act, with Gemma’s straight-talking, northern humour and Gorka’s quiet, laidback Spanish charm. The couple, who got engaged in 2021, are based in Manchester, but Gorka often travels for work — this year he’s regularly in Spain, as a judge on the Spanish version of Strictly .

The pair met when Gemma took part in Strictly in 2017. Their relationship was a slow burn, but they fell for each other and are now parents to two children, Mia, six, who was recently diagnosed with epilepsy, and two-year-old Thiago. Elements of navigating their daily lives often get lost in translation (hence the name of their new podcast, Lost In Translation), which makes for some hilarious moments. Here, they open up exclusively to OK! about working together, their little ones following in their footsteps and the habits that annoy each other…

Hello, Gemma and Gorka! This year, are you glued to Strictly?

Gemma: Every Saturday. It’s the proper countdown to Christmas, for us. It’s also a good excuse not have to go out on a Saturday night!

You two were bound to be together, wasn’t it?

Gorka: Oh no, but she actually made me work for it!

Gemma: Nothing good comes naturally, as my mother would put it. It’s always nice to remember how everything began. Since joining Strictly in 2014, I’ve watched the live performances twice, and Elstree always has that warm feeling in my heart.

Gorka: Me and you are the beginning.

Gemma: It’s lovely. Seeing Aljaž [Škorjanec] and Janette [Manrara] with little Lyra-Rose, Neil Jones has Havana, and Dianne [Buswell] is going to have a little one…

Gorka: It’s crazy that Neil and Alja were about to marry when I first started Strictly. Everyone is grown up, including Diane, who I also worked on cruise ships. After a performance, we used to go out, but now we have to return home so we can have breakfast with our kids the following day.

Gemma, you almost didn’t do it; it could be that your life is completely different now.

Gemma: Yes! I initially said no. It was my first job that allowed me to commute in less than 40 minutes while I was working on radio. I was able to continue living my life. My agent called me about two weeks later and said, “Hun, this Strictly thing, can you just think about it?” I knew it had to be rejected. She suggested spending a week there and thinking about it when I went to Jason Vale’s juice retreat. I did it, too.

What caused you to change?

When I got to my room at the retreat, Oprah’s autobiography was on the side table. I picked it up and it fell open to a page with just one big quote, “If you have a chance to sit it out or dance, I hope you choose to dance.” I thought, maybe I’m meant to do this. So I messaged my agent and said yes, I’ll do it. Just don’t ask me again or I’ll change my mind!

Wow, what a moment of real sliding doors…

Gemma: We weren’t aware that Gorks and I were there at the same time a year earlier. The Bahamas was where we were. There is a bar called Seor Frog’s that overlooks the ocean where I went on vacation. A cruise ship is close to shore, and there is a video of me and my friend dancing there.

Gorka: How incredible is it that I worked on that ship?

What details do you have for our new podcast?

Gemma: From our reality TV show, we had lovely feedback about how normal, mundane tasks and chaotic school runs could turn into something fun and relatable. So Lost In Translation is like an audio version of that. Each week, we each message our producer individually about what’s annoyed us about each other and then have a debate about it.

You also help each week solve a listener’s conundrum…

Gemma: Yes, we do. A listener by the name of Sophie was the first. She had just moved in with her boyfriend and was experiencing stomach pain because she was afraid to go poo in the apartment! We play silly games, and we look at the differences between Spanish and English.

What degree of chaos does that mix of cultures engender?

Gorka: It always occurs. Gemma would laugh and make me realize that I’m wet p****d through when I used to say, “I’m p***d wet through.”

Gemma: There are no small things. Growing up, I would have chippy tea with gravy or cheese pie every Friday. On chips, vinegar. This absolutely repulses Gorka.

How is a cheese-filled puff pastry pie eaten? !

Gemma: Thiago also adores them. He prefers them over anything else.

Gorka: Gemma doesn’t consume red meat, but I do bring home a sizable Spanish leg of ham at Christmas. Although it’s amazing, Gemma says, “Get that thing out of the house!”

Are the kids studying Spanish?

Gemma and Mia read Spanish together. His father speaks Spanish, and I’m there trying my hardest, “Hola!” as his parents don’t speak English, so when we FaceTime, his father says “Hola!” For children, it’s different. Gorka’s mother last visited Spain, so we could spend a day in Madrid. They were dancing and laughing when we returned four hours later.

Gorka: It’s irrelevant because they were having a wonderful time.

What about each other irritates you?

Gorka: I’m a perfectionist, Gemma’s messy, and I’m a perfectionist.

Gemma: My entire life has been spent folding socks incorrectly. I simply fold them, done. Gorka enjoys them tucked in completely, the bottom to the top, next to each other.

Do Mia and Thiago exhibit any dancing-related traits?

Gemma: They have musicality. Mia has a dancing craze. Thiago already sings in tune, and he has a good ear. He adores The Greatest Showman and plays the drum precisely when it’s needed.

Gorka and I were dancing in the kitchen this morning while we were playing music. I adore those moments.
