Richard Madeley confesses to smoking 60 cigarettes a day – and what made him quit

Richard Madeley has described his “very addictive personality,” which led to him smoking three packs of cigarettes per day until he was 40.

Richard Madeley has revealed he used to secretly smoke 60 cigarettes a day – and shared the one thing that finally made him quit the unhealthy habit.

The 69-year-old presenter, who shot to fame presenting TV shows with his wife Judy Finnigan, 77, confessed to having a ‘very addictive personality’. This is why he never tried drugs, as he was already so hooked on smoking.

Richard claimed to have “never even smoked a joint” when he spoke with Busted star Matt Willis on his On The Mend podcast. He explained to Matt why, saying, “I was a very heavy smoker until I was 40. I once had a daily intake of 60 to 3 packs, which is ridiculous.

I’m a very addictive person. I was aware of this, and smoking later proved it to me. As a result, I’ve always been terrified of heavier items. I do, in fact, drink a lot of wine. But I get it. “

In terms of cocaine or pot, Richard continued, “I’ve always steered clear because it terrifies me. In terms of cocaine or pot, as we used to call it. And I’m afraid I’ll fall into the same trap as you did. I never trust myself, so I never do.

Richard claimed that everyone smoked “back in the early seventies” and that he started smoking when he was 16 when he got his first job as a reporter for a local newspaper.

You were chain smoking as you were typing because you were covering a story and you returned to your typewriter at your desk and couldn’t write your story without getting a fag on the go. But it aggravated my severe addiction.

Richard claimed it was interviewing Nigella Lawson’s first husband John Diamond, a journalist for The Guardian and The Times, who passed away in 2001 at the age of 47. He recalled the moment when he finally gave up.

He was dying while he was writing a diary about dying for The Guardian, and he had throat and mouth cancer as a result of smoking when he was in his late 30s or early 40s.

“It was a tragedy, and yet it was gripping the way he talked about his shortening days and his suffering. And he came on This Morning when he probably had about three weeks to live.

He had had a lot of his oesophagus removed, and he had had tumors that caused him to have had half of his tongue removed. He had a bad attitude. One side of his mouth was constantly dribbling. And because of the surgery on his tongue, he was very difficult to understand.

I said to him in a slightly foolish way, “John, you’re in this plight because of smoking,” about halfway through this live interview. And he said, “Of course I f***ing am,” which we didn’t receive any complaints because the F-word couldn’t really be heard.

I turned around and grabbed my packet of Benson &amp, Hedges down and looked at it as I went back to my dressing room. The four or five remaining items I removed went down the toilet. If I could do anything to stop it, I knew that was it because I could not allow myself to end in that manner. And since then, I’ve never smoked anything.

Carol Vorderman’s love life from divorces to ‘special friends’ and request from Pete Wicks

Carol Vorderman has two previous marriages and has been single for the past 15 years, but she still has a number of “special friends.”

Carol Vorderman has spoken out about Pete Wicks’ “crush” comments whilst discussing her romantic life. The 64 year old former Countdown star revealed she has “basically been single” for 15 years following her split from journalist Des Kelly.

Carol, who has had two weddings, revealed her disapproval in 2022. She now favors having several “special friends” for informal gatherings.

The TV personality claims this lifestyle has given her a far “freer” way of living, reports Wales Online. However, in a recent chat with Yours magazine, Carol refused to disclose exactly how many special friends she currently enjoys.

She continued, “I’ve been basically single for about 15 years, despite having what I call medium-term boyfriends for a year or so.”

My two children, my family, and my closest friends make up the family. We have a mutual love. Because of how much I have to offer my life, I don’t need love.

Here we examine Carol’s romantic history over the years, including a cheeky remark from former The Only Way is Essex star Pete Wicks.

the two marriages of Carol

At the age of 24, Carol marries for the first time. Although the union only lasted for a year, she wed Christopher Mather from the Royal Navy.

Carol admits to doing “unfavorable” things during the wedding ceremony.

Speaking on BBC Wales, she said: “I was wearing a dress, right, you know the days when you had the white dress for the day, for the big thing itself.”

When co-host Owain Wynn Evans enquired whether she changed outfits, Carol responded: “And I found a frock to wear at night time – it was like something they now wear in Strictly Come Dancing. It was entirely mesh with sequins in the right places.

So I performed It’s Raining Men on the stage while having something that was probably inappropriate for a bride.

Four years after her divorce, Carol and Patrick King, a management consultant, wed. Before splitting in 2000, the couple welcomed their second child, Katie and Cameron.

After splitting with Des, Carol and Des began a five-year romance. Before reuniting for a while, the couple ultimately decided to end their relationship.

Carol is “freer” with “special friends.”

Carol has revealed that she feels more comfortable keeping special friendships than engaging in a monogamous union.

During a 2022 appearance on This Morning, Carol explained: “Our mothers told us that we should marry when we were still 18 or 19 or 20, so we grew up with that convention that you should find one partner for life. My view is not quite like that.”

She continued, “I live my life in chapters, and you have said this chapter since I was about 50. So, I’ve lived a much more libere life for the past ten or so.

Carol’s separation from two of her “special friends” was confirmed last year.

She stated to The Times, “Life has moved on.” It is impulsive. Although there is no ownership, it functions.

Pete Wicks’ “weird crush”

Former TOWIE star Pete Wicks, who co-hosts the Pride of Britain red carpet with his mate Sam Thompson, has previously labelled Carol as his “weird crush”. On his Staying Relevant podcast, Pete cheekily said: “Carol let me know when you’re free.

I’m anxious to meet with you so we can talk math, drink tequila, and have a delicious breakfast prepared by yours truly!

I didn’t know who he was then, but he’s lovely, Carol exclaimed to Heat magazine.

Not just Carol’s ex-Strictly Come Dancing contestant is in love with her either. Melvin Odoom from BBB Radio One has also expressed his admiration for the actress.

Bruce Springsteen helps director’s family after LA wildfire destroys home

The 76-year-old music legend’s career has been dubbed “The Boss,” according to Bruce Springsteen’s new biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, which follows the 76-year-old artist’s career.

Bruce Springsteen came to the rescue of director Scott Cooper and his family after their home was destroyed in the Los Angeles wildfires. The rock legend, known as The Boss, offered a helping hand to the filmmaker, who is directing the new biopic “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere”, after Scott, 55, and his family lost everything in the fire.

When our home burned, Scott explained to PEOPLE magazine, “He moved my family into his home.” When my daughter Stella burned her guitar, Bruce immediately sent her one of his. Bruce Springsteen is wholly of that nature.

“To move my family and me into his house while we got on our feet, it brings a special resonance to this movie, which is why it’s so hard to put it out into the world.”

When Scott received the “devastating call” that his home had been consumed by the fire, he was on set with actor Jeremy Allen White, who plays Bruce in the biopic.

He had been filming a scene that featured Jeremy singing “Born To Run” and a moving scene between the rock star and his father, Douglas, who was also playing Stephen Graham, on the same day.

He recalled that he had been crying for five minutes before realizing that our lives had never been the same.

He acknowledged that was without a doubt the most difficult day I’ve ever had while filming.

They had to make the heartbreaking choice to have their beloved family dog put down just a week later, adding to the family’s woes.

Scott praised his daughters Ava and Stella for their resilience despite the difficulties, saying, “My daughters Ava and Stella are incredibly resilient.

Because we lost everything, like many others, they have handled this better than I could have anticipated.

Then we had to put our dog to sleep a week after our home burned. It resembled a terrible country song. It was terrible. The worst year of my life has also been the best year.

Bruce was on the movie set, according to Jeremy, and it was very difficult. especially because he spends the entire time sitting there.

Before I began playing the role, I had little to no experience singing, playing guitar, or anything else. That initially was intimidating, to say the least, but ultimately was. Although I had plenty of time, I didn’t have as much as I would have liked. You are aware that you never do? I had about six months to sort of “learn.”

Oasis share sweet tribute to guitarist Bonehead after he was forced to pull out world tour

Due to illness, album guitarist Paul Arthurs, who is better known as Bonehead, won’t be playing with the band for the next few shows.

Oasis have paid a sweet tribute to their guitarist Bonehead after he was forced to pull out of the next leg of their world comeback tour.

The 60-year-old Rock n Roll star was present for all of the band’s iconic UK gigs, but earlier this month shared the sad news he had been diagnosed with cancer again. It comes three years after he got the all clear from tonsil cancer in 2022.

Bonehead, whose real name is Paul Arthurs, announced his diagnosis of prostate cancer on October 3 via social media. The good news is that I’m doing well on my treatment, which allowed me to participate in this incredible tour.

I’ll miss the gigs in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney because I have a planned break for the next phase of my care right now. Although I’m sorely disappointed that I’m going to miss these shows, I’m feeling good and will be back in time for South America.

He concluded the post by saying, “If you’re going this month, have an amazing time, and I’ll see you back onstage with the band in November.” “Bonehead. “

Bonehead will likely be well enough to reunite with the group when they play significant shows on their upcoming Argentine, Chile, and Brazil dates in Argentina.

Proving they are thinking of their bandmate, Liam and Noel made sure he was still a part of the tour – by bringing a cardboard cut out of Bonehead on the road with them. Posting a snap of it on his Instagram account, Bonehead appeared to show his approval as he wrote in the caption: “Play it loud Amigos.”

The Gallagher brothers addressed Bonehead’s diagnosis in a statement, saying, “We’ll see you back on stage in South America. We wish you all the best with your treatment.”

A source close to Oasis also told the Mirror: “The band have known about the diagnosis from the outset and were fully behind Bonehead. Of course they wanted him to play the tour, but also Liam and Noel were clear his health comes first.

He should only miss a few dates because he has played most of the shows. No specific dates have been confirmed, but it’s possible Bonehead will fill in on rhythm guitar for the dates he won’t be able to play.

Earlier this week, the Mirror’s Showbiz Editor Mark Jefferies exclusively revealed who Bonehead’s replacement for the next leg of Oasis gigs would be. Mike Moore, a good friend of Liam Gallagher and part of his solo touring band, will take over the rhythm guitar.

Mike Moore has been playing for Liam since 2017, according to a source close to the band. He is also well-versed in many of the Oasis tunes from his solo shows. Everyone wants Bonehead well and back, but it’s a huge privilege for Mike and he’s excited to take to the stage.

Christian Madden is currently playing keyboards in Christian Madden’s Oasis band, which is not Moore’s only addition. Noel Gallagher, Gem Archer, Andy Bell, and Joey Waronker are the only members of the band who remain.
