Gary Numan worried fans attending a concert at the O2 Academy in Birmingham after he broke down on stage. The singer had to be comforted by his wife as he struggled after receiving what he said was the “worst news ever” earlier in the day.
The 67-year-old was midway through his song Please Push No More, which was in the middle of his set on Saturday (15 November), when he became distressed. His wife, Gemma, had to rush out on stage to comfort him, as Gary explained he’s received the “worst news ever” that morning.
He explained that he would share what the news was in a few days, when he had properly processed it. Gary is currently in the early days of his Telekon tour, which celebrates the 45th anniversary of his album of the same name, which reached the UK number one spot in 1980.

Fans were incredibly concerned and expressed their worry on social media. One user wrote on X: “Rough to see him so upset during PPNM – not looking forward to hearing the reason in the coming days. Can’t be good. Absolute pro to battle on.”
Another added: “Gary Numan breaks down at O2 in Birmingham?? Hope he’s ok! He’s heard something today but said it’ll all come out in a few days.” Another said: “Hearing today that Gary was struggling in his Birmingham show, sending love.”
On Facebook, one fan wrote: “Hats off to Gary!! Imagine having bad news and still coming on stage to perform to all his fans. Takes great courage!” Another shared: “Fantastic show, very emotional. Hope it isn’t anything to do with his health or his family.”
One fan posted an image from the gig and wrote: “A very emotional Gary tonight in Birmingham. He broke down during Please Push No More. Apparently, he’s had some bad news today, which he’ll make public in a few days’ time. Gemma came on stage and hugged him. I really hope it’s not something to do with Gemma’s health. But he still did a tremendous show. And the audience loved him a little bit more for it.”
Gary has been married to Gemma for 30 years. The couple met in 1997, when she was a member of his fan club. They have three daughters together.

One of his daughters contributed vocals to his 2017 song My Name Is Ruin, when she was only 11. Currently, the family live in Santa Monica, California, where they’ve been based since 2012.
Gary’s tour is set to continue with another concert in Bristol on Sunday (16 November), and there has been no indication that this performance will not go ahead. He has not addressed the events of the Birmingham performance on any of his social media profiles.
Geordie shore star Vicky faced a disappointing verdict from the Strictly Come Dancing judges this week, but she says she has her own personal definitions of success and failure

Vicky says she’s bloomed in her thirties(Image: OK!/Matt Monfredi)
Strictly Come Dancing star Vicky Pattison says she’s always believed that it’s up to her to decide exactly what success and failure mean to her.
The 38-year-old says that in her native Newcastle “it was ‘expected that you’d get married and have kids by 30, and if you didn’t you’d have failed.” But Vicky says that while hitting 30 felt “hideous,” she’s now in the happiest and most successful period of he life so far.
She told the Daily Mail: “I’d just come out of a relationship. I’d been conditioned to think everything was going to go downhill – looks, fertility, career. But my 30s have actually been the best years of my life.
“I met my husband, I bought a house, I adopted my dog, I found a career I’m proud of. I was a girl until I was 30 – now I’m a woman, and I like her. Society scares women into thinking life ends at 30. It’s rubbish.”
Vicky has shrugged off other people’s idea of “failure” professionally, as well as in her personal life. After earning an impressive 39 points from the Strictly Come Dancing judges for her sultry tango to Taylor Swift’s The Fate of Ophelia in Week Seven, Vicky had a tougher time this weekend.
For this week’s jive to Girls Aloud hit Sound Of The Underground, Vicky and professional dance partner Kai Widdrington ended up receiving a score of 27 out of a possible 40 points from the judges.
That left them left them tied at the bottom of the leaderboard alongside EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal and her partner Julian Caillon.
Vicky was nowhere near being placed in the dreaded “Final Four” last week, but added that she knew it was inevitable that she’ll have to face the “awful” ordeal at some point.
She revealed on her Get A Grip podcast: “I know at some point, you know, I’ll have to be in a dance off or whatever it is. I think it’ll be it’ll be terrifying.
Vicky had actually spoken to Strictly bosses about the new “Final Four” format, but was told in no uncertain terms that it wouldn’t be changing.

In the wake of her Strictly run, and the success of The Honesty Box – which achieved the rare feat among TV dating shows of finding two couples that actually wanted to stay together past the end of the season, Vicky is looking forward to a flood of new TV offers.
But she’ll undoubtedly miss her Strictly co-stars, who she described as a “family.” She said that while she found the elimination shows uncomfortably “spicy,” the rest of her time on the show has been a joy: Before getting to your spicy Saturday, there’s just a real family feel on a Friday and it’s lovely.”

Penny Lancaster has shared a poignant tribute to a “beloved” family member in an emotional social media post.
On Sunday (November 16), the mum-of-two posted to her Instagram Story, sharing an image of her Labradoodle, Lily, resting quietly next to a memorial cross bearing a brass plaque.
The devoted mum, 54, placed a small bunch of flowers at the burial spot in their luxurious garden where they laid to rest their late Cavapoo, Bubbles, who passed away in March following a fight with cancer.
The two pets shared a deep bond when Bubbles was alive, with Lily providing comfort during his illness and remaining beside him in his final moments. She wrote alongside the post: “Remembering our beloved Bubbles on our walk today.”
The heartbreaking post arrives just days after the Loose Women panellist revealed the presence of three new family additions, who have actually been residing with them for years.
On Friday (November 14), the mum-of-two used Instagram to present her 230,000-strong following to her three Pygmy goats. She began the footage by gathering a bunch of branches from the trees in her garden, accompanied by her three dogs, reports the Express.
The footage then showed her approaching a tree stump, where the brown and white Pygmy goats waited proudly for their snacks. Penny, who has been wed to her rock ‘n’ roll husband Rod Stewart since 2007, appeared absolutely delighted.
She gave her followers a tour of their plush new home, adorned with fairy lights and wooden structures. In a lengthy post, Penny revealed the playful names of their new additions.
The copper shared: “Making the most of the sunshine today, I reached out to nature to feed my soul as well as our Pygmy goats, Hazel, Robert, and Biscuit.
“They joined us during the second phase of lockdown when I was able to spend a lot more time with them.

They have wonderful sleeping accommodations and climbing structures to keep them comfortable and entertained.
“Other than their general goat feed, they love extra treats of the non-evergreen foliage around our garden [three goat emojis],” she concluded.
Strictly Come Dancing has been hit with a new affair scandal weeks after it was reported a married celeb was filmed passionately kissing his female dance partner

A former Strictly star reportedly had an ‘affair’ with their professional partner(Image: PA)
A former Strictly Come Dancing contestant reportedly had an “affair” with their professional partner. The unnamed stars were paired together on the BBC show and praised for their ‘great connection’ and ‘insane chemistry’ during a previous series, not the current one. But it’s said to have continued when they were off the dance floor too.
While they were competing, the pair are said to have managed to keep the clandestine affair a secret from the rest of the cast and crew. But it’s now come to light, prompting speculation that another famous contestant has fallen victim to the dreaded ‘Strictly curse’.
This particular celeb ended up breaking up with their partner months after their Strictly run ended, it’s reported – though it’s unclear if the affair led to the relationship ending or if their partner ever found out.

A source told the Mail: “One of the celebrities had a fling with one of the dancers while they were still with a partner at home – and everyone has just found out.
“It’s unclear if their partner ever found out, but the relationship later ended, so it’s not inconceivable that they did.” The news comes hot on the heels of another Strictly scandal – after a 12-second video reportedly emerged showing a married former Strictly contestant kissing his female professional dancer.
It’s claimed that the video – later shared on WhatsApp – was filmed backstage at Elstree Studios by a member of the production team, who saw the pair passionately snogging in a dressing room. The celebrity in question is said to have also appeared on a previous series rather than the current one.
A source told the Sun: “The video itself shows the famous married family man passionately kissing his female dance pro. She is sitting on his knee, and he has his hand on her back before leaning in for a kiss. The kiss only lasts a few seconds, but it would more than likely end his marriage and destroy his carefully cultivated family man image.”
The source added that if the clip was shared publicly, it would be a crisis for the two stars and the BBC. Staff on the show reportedly met the man’s wife, and described her as “absolutely adorable, such a kind woman.”
It wouldn’t be the first time the family-friendly show has faced scandal in recent years. There have been multiple reports of misconduct allegations over the past few seasons of Strictly, resulting in axings.
Back in 2023, professional dancer Giovanni Pernice was axed following claims made by his celebrity partner, Amanda Abbington, of ‘bullying’ and ‘aggressive’ behaviour, which Giovanni has always denied. A BBC investigation found some complaints against him were upheld, but he was cleared of the most serious ones in a probe that lasted months.
In the same series, dancer Graziano Di Prima was axed over claims of misconduct towards partner Zara McDermott during training.

And this year, Welsh opera singer Wynne Evans got kicked off the UK tour after being accused of making inappropriate remarks. The 2024 celebrity contestant was filmed making a controversial “spit roast” comment during the Strictly live tour.

Hamza Yassin, Countryfile’s resident wildlife cameraman, also known for his role on Let’s Go For A Walk, recently opened up about the ups and downs of his life in Scotland

A Countryfile star has shed light on the moment he realised that local residents “knew” he was living in his car. Hamza Yassin, a wildlife cameraman also known for his role on Let’s Go For A Walk and winning Strictly Come Dancing, recently opened up about his home on the Ardnamurchan peninsula in Scotland.
He explained that he’s lived in the remote Highlands locale for 17 years in total, specifically in what he described as an “awesome little village” that’s home to around 150 people.
Despite Hamza residing in his current home, a “cottage in the Hebrides style”, for ten years, his introduction to the area was a little less glamorous, having spent nine months living in a “Vauxhall seven-seater”.
Once he managed to upgrade to a farmer’s caravan, he then faced the unpleasant scenario of having no heating or running water, but he would later switch to a second caravan that, at the very least, offered water.
Hamza was then asked what the most difficult thing was about his living situation in the car. He replied the Times: “Not being spotted sleeping in the back by the locals.
“I was waking up at 8am, pretending I was going on the ferry. It turned out that they knew, they just never quizzed me. I didn’t have a fridge.
“I had showers at a local campsite. I’m sometimes asked if I find it tough being a black man in the countryside. I usually say that the wildlife doesn’t care. People were curious, not suspicious. They’d say, “What are you doing here?”
In other news, Hamza opened up about his mental health over the summer on Countryfile, describing how being outdoors makes him feel “at peace”.
In the episode, in which Hamza searched for orcas off the Caithness coast, the cameraman discussed how he has the “world’s best job”, one that allows him to “go on safari” and “travel the world”.
Hamza also noted that his enviable role means that he can “come back with memories” both in his mind and “on a card”, which he can look back upon, before he moved on to the subject of his mental health.

He said: “One of the best things when I am busy, rushing around – my mind is all scrambled. I love just going out and going to a place like this, where you see the wildlife, and see what happens to your mental health.”
Hamza added: “I feel like someone has just gone through and cleared my mind of all the clutter and I’m at peace. I am meditating and being in nature stops time and before you know it, it’s the end of the day and the sun’s going down and I’ve had an absolutely fantastic day.”
Legendary Formula One racing driver Michael Schumacher suffered life-changing injuries during a skiing accident 12 years ago and hasn’t been seen since as his family care for him privately

It has been more than a decade since Formula One legend Michael Schumacher suffered a devastating accident that changed his life forever.
The racing driver is yet to be publicly seen after suffering catastrophic injuries in the French Alps during Christmas 2013. At the time of the accident, the German driver had been skiing with his family before he lost control and hit his head on a rock.
The now 56-year-old suffered serious damage to his head, with his helmet ultimately saving his life. Following the incident on December 29, the seven-time world champion was left fighting for his life. Since then, his condition has been shrouded in mystery as his family fight to protect his privacy.

Health updates have been few and far between. Most recently, Finnish neurosurgeon Dr Jussi Posti told Finnish media outlet Iltalehti that he felt Michael was unlikely to “lead an active life”.
German broadcaster Felix Gorner echoed these sentiments, describing Michael as “a person who can no longer express himself through language,” adding that it is “a very sad state of affairs.”
His wife Corinna, 56, son Mick, 26, and daughter Gina-Maria, 28, have been subjected to blackmail over the years. Earlier this year, three men were found guilty of using photos and videos of Michael to blackmail the Schumachers for nearly £13million.
More than 900 photos and almost 600 videos, as well as confidential medical records, were digitally smuggled out of their house. The sensitive content was stored on two hard drives and four USBs.
Police seized all but one of the hard drives which is yet to be found. Corinna has sworn those around her husband to secrecy over his condition to maintain his dignity. Only those trusted have been granted access to see the star, with the house under strict security protocols.
Court documents from earlier this year further described him as “partly helpless, in need of care and visibly marked” by his injuries. Sources have said that he communicates without words, mainly through his eyes, with only a select few trusted people permitted to visit, including former Ferrari colleagues Jean Todt and Ross Brawn and ex-driver Gerhard Berger.
When the crash happened, the racing driver’s helmet absorbed much of the force, but the severity of the impact cracked the shell and fractured his skull, leading to a brain injury. He was quickly transported to hospital by air ambulance and medics carried out two life-saving surgeries to reduce pressure on the brain.
At the time, it was confirmed that the star was fighting for his life and was in critical condition. It wasn’t until April 2014 that the family released their next statement, in which they said Michael had shown “moments of consciousness and awakening”.
The following summer, it was confirmed that Michael was out of the coma and was moved to a rehabilitation facility before returning home to his family.
Late in 2014, fellow former racing driver Philippe Streiff said Michael was paralysed and used a wheelchair.
Philippe, a good friend of Michael’s who also uses a wheelchair after a racing accident, said: “He is getting better but everything is relative. It’s very difficult. He can’t speak.
“Like me, he is in a wheelchair paralysed. He has memory problems and speech problems.” Ex-Ferrari boss Jean Todt said that his miraculous survival was the result of Corinna’s steely determination – but that it had come at a price.
He told Bild: ‘I’ve spent a lot of time with Corinna since Michael had his serious skiing accident on December 29, 2013. She is a great woman and runs the family. She hadn’t expected that. It happened suddenly and she had no choice. But she does it very well. I trust her, she trusts me. Thanks to the work of his doctors and the cooperation of Corinna, who wanted him to survive, he survived – but with consequences.”
Corinna has described her husband as “different”, while son Mick – who has followed in his father’s footsteps into F1 – said Michael’s illness means he’s unable to communicate.
In 2019, he was widely reported to have undergone stem cell treatment in a bid to regenerate his nervous system. Le Parisien reported he was admitted for transfusions of inflammation-reducing stem cells, and also quoted an unnamed nurse who claimed Michael had shown signs of recovery.
“Yes he is in my service,” the nurse revealed. “And I can assure you that he is conscious.” However, the racer is believed to have developed muscle atrophy and osteoporosis after being bed-bound.
‘Close relatives’ reportedly spoke with the French magazine ‘Paris Match’ ahead of his 50th birthday in January 2019. The magazine quoted one as saying: “When you put him in his wheelchair facing the beautiful panorama of the mountains overlooking the lake, Michael sometimes cries.”
In September 2020, he said he had seen Michael that week, who was “fighting.” Later that month it was reported that Schumacher had been spending more time in Majorca.
Elisabetta Gregoraci, ex-wife of former F1 team boss Flavio Briarote, was quoted in Spanish press saying: “Michael doesn’t speak, he communicates with his eyes. Only three people can visit him and I know who they are.”
In 2021, Corinna gave a rare insight into her husband’s health on Netflix documentary SCHUMACHER, admitting she desperately longs for the partner she had before the accident.
“I miss Michael every day. But it’s not just me who misses him. It’s the children, the family, his father, everyone around him,” she said.
“Everybody misses Michael, but Michael is here – different, but here. He still shows me how strong he is every day.” Confirming that he lives at the family home in Switzerland, she said the fight continues to help Michael get better, but insisted she wanted to keep his trials and tribulations private.
She continued: “We live together at home. We do therapy. We do everything we can to make Michael better and to make sure he’s comfortable. And to simply make him feel our family, our bond. And no matter what, I will do everything I can.
“We all will. We’re trying to carry on as a family, the way Michael liked it and still does. And we are getting on with our lives. It’s very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible. Michael always protected us, and now we are protecting Michael.”
Since his surgeries, little to no information has been shared about the procedures the star may have had. His son, Mick, 26, raced for Haas before becoming a reserve for Mercedes, and has given few interviews but has said his biggest heartbreak is that he can’t discuss the sport with his father.
He said: “Since the accident, of course, these experiences, these moments that I believe many people have with their parents, are no longer present or to a lesser extent. And in my view, that is a little unfair.
“I think me and dad, we would understand each other in a different way now. Simply because we speak a similar language – the language of motor sport – and that we would have a lot more to talk about. And that is where my head is most of the time. Thinking that would be so cool… I would give up everything just for that.”
The family’s lawyer, Felix Damm, explained why his close circle have chosen to remain silent on the matter.
Article continues below
“It has always been a matter of protecting private information,” he reportedly told the Mail. “We also considered whether a final announcement about Michael’s state of health could be the right way to go about it. But that wouldn’t have been the end of it and there would have had to be permanently updated ‘water level reports,” he explained.
