Eamonn Holmes says tax row has cost him over £1m and two homes – and he still owes money

TV star Eamonn Holmes has been struggling in recent years, health and money woes, while dealing with the fallout from a long-running tax battle

Eamonn Holmes has said that his long-running tax row with HMRC has left him over £1 million out of pocket, forced him to sell two homes, and still owes £250,000. The 65-year-old broadcaster branded HMRC as “thieves” who have “wrecked him,” revealing that the saga cost him a home in Belfast and a holiday pad in Portugal.

The star has been going through a nightmarish few months, including a recent nasty injury to his face and reported ‘turmoil’ in his new romance. The TV star claimed tax officials HMRC reversed their previous view that he was self-employed, and are now demanding ten years’ worth of back tax and national insurance.

He has appealed the decision twice but lost both times, leaving him with huge legal bills. Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, he said: “I had to sell my house in Belfast. I had a place in Portugal and had to sell it. I still owe them a quarter of a million quid. They went back and I appealed it twice — lost it twice.”

Eamonn, who said he has already paid a million pounds, added: “Lawyers’ fees are absolutely horrendous. So that was something, on top of health matters, I had this tax situation which is not over yet.”

The former ITV star’s life has changed dramatically in recent years. He left This Morning alongside wife Ruth Langsford before joining GB News, and the couple shocked fans when they announced their split last year. They are still negotiating their divorce.

Away from the tax battle, Eamonn has faced more personal challenges. He has embraced a new romance with girlfriend Katie Alexander, 22 years his junior, but insiders claim the relationship is under strain.

The broadcaster’s health woes, combined with the stress of the tax dispute and personal life changes, have left him reportedly “grumpier than ever.” He had spinal surgery in 2022 due to chronic back pain that had been caused by three slipped discs. Eamonn said the ailment had previously impinged on his sciatic nerve and affected the mobility of his right leg.

A source said: “He’s grumpier than ever and his health problems really aren’t helping, but instead of moving closer to Katie and settling, he’s spending more time with his family in Belfast, often without her.”

After quitting ITV’s This Morning back in January 2022, Eamonn joined GB News and presents its breakfast programme alongside Isabel Webster.

He is one of Britain’s longest-serving TV stars, having appeared on GMTV with Anthea Turner, Sky News’ breakfast programme and a series of game shows, including the National Lottery’s Jet Set.

I’m A Celeb’s salaries ‘leaked’ with unexpected star banking the highest fee

I’m A Celebrity’s stars have landed in Australia ahead of filming and while what they get paid is usually a closely guarded secret, the money this year’s cast are banking has been ‘leaked’

How much would you have to be paid to eat kangaroo balls or be buried alive in the Australian jungle? The salaries of the I’m A Celebrity stars is often a closely guarded secret… but this year some of them appear to have got out.

With the show starting again on Sunday (16 November), audiences are on the edge of their seats, waiting for the gruelling series to get underway. The amount this year’s cast are banking has reportedly been leaked to the press, and unsurprisingly each celeb is rumoured to be taking home thousands for their participation in the hit ITV show.

However, an unexpected star has come out on top, taking home more than double the lowest paid celeb will get. Leaked by a TV insider to The Sun, here are the salaries reportedly received by this year’s I’m A Celeb cast, from the lowest paid to the highest paid celeb.

Eddie Kadi

The comedian and radio host is taking home the least of all the celebrities but it is still a whopping £75,000 for the show. The insider explained his lack of star power meant his earning were not as high as his co-stars but that “his worth is set to shoot up as he’ll likely go far in there.”

Before being on I’m A Celeb, Eddie was the first Black British comedian to headline London’s O2, appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2023. He was on the show for five weeks before he and his partner Karen Hauer were eliminated.

Kelly Brook

Loose Women star Kelly Brook is thought to be making £5k more than Eddie and taking home £80,000 for her I’m A Celeb stint. She previously said she would never do the series, but revealed why she changed her mind on Elizabeth Day’s How To Fail podcast.

She said: “What changed? Really good question. A friend of mine got asked to have a meeting with the producers of I’m A Celebrity and I said, You have to do it, I love watching it, what an incredible life experience… I was thinking, why can’t I give myself that advice? I realised it was basically out of fear, and I thought, it’s about time that I live my don’t give a da*n era.”

Martin Kemp

Martin Kemp is taking home the third smallest paycheck, thought to be £95,000. Even though it’s low compared to some fees this year, it’s still thought to be over double what his son bagged in 2019.

Roman Kemp was paid an approximate £40,000 for his stint on the show and lasted 22 days in the jungle. His popularity soared after the show and he banked £1 million in work deals over the following year.

Ruby Wax

Ruby is reported to be taking home £95,000. The chat show icon is a favourite among fans to make it to the final, as the 72-year-old’s TV show Ruby Wax: Cast Away, she was ‘stranded’ off the coast of a remote island in Madagascar for ten days. As such, she already has experience with being in a remote location, relying on your own skills to survive.

Lisa Riley

Emmerdale star Lisa is thought to have negotiated a deal of £95,000 as well. She is said to have spent years saying no to the show, before finally caving this year.

A TV insider said she was the “perfect celebrity” for I’m A Celeb. “Lisa is the perfect celebrity for the show because not only is she from a soap watched by millions she’s one of its biggest characters and it’s an ITV show to boot.”

Shona McGarty

The EastEnders actress is also said to be taking home £95,000 for the show. Talking about Shona, Ruby, Lisa and Martin, the insider said the four taking home that fee were “all showbiz favourites” but didn’t appeal to youth audiences, meaning they would not be bringing home the biggest paycheck. They said: “While they haven’t netted the biggest paydays because they aren’t the massive social media names that bring in the youth demographic ITV are after, they are still making solid cash.”

Angry Ginge

Morgan Burthwhistle, aka Angry Ginge, is said to be getting £100,000 for taking part in the series. The football influencer has several million followers of social media and that has contributed to his paycheck, according to the source, especially as ITV are trying to appeal to a younger audience.

Alex Scott

Former Lioness Alex Scott is also thought to be taking home £100,000. The source said she was getting an “impressive amount” as she is a “massive name”.

They added that her relationship with Jess Glynne, singer of the Jet2 holiday ad song Hold My Hand, meant ITV bosses were willing to pay more, hoping she would “spill the beans” about her relationship.

Jack Osbourne

The son of Ozzy Osbourne is said to be banking £200,000. He has joined the show only a few months after the death of his rockstar dad and sources say he’s a “great addition” to the series.

This is not least because they hope audiences will tune in to “get his take on his loss” and how the rest of the Osbournes are coping with Ozzy’s death.

Aitch

The highest paid celeb is thought to be rapper Aitch, who is said to be taking home a whopping £250,000. The 25-year-old is thought to have been brought on the show to being in younger viewers and his 2.2 million followers on Instagram will surely help with that.

Adam Peaty’s ex shares her thoughts on dramatic family feud

As the bitter family feud between Adam Peaty and his family rumbles on, a source claims his ex does not want to be embroiled in the drama but is ‘shocked’ at recent events

The furious family feud that has erupted between Adam Peaty and his family amid his impending nuptials to chef Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Holly has shocked everyone. Now, a pal of his former partner, Eirianedd Munro has shared her alleged thoughts on the furore.

Eiri Munro, a former influencer and art student, disappeared from social media after her split with the Olympic swimmer in August 2022. She met Adam on Tinder and after a whirlwind romance, the pair going Insta official on New Year ’s eve in 2020. She announced just two months later that she was expecting a baby boy with him, George – who is now five.

But now, a source has claimed to the Sun that Eiri, 27 – who lives in Wales with her sister and near other family with George, is still close to Adam’s mum Caroline, who he is in a heartbreaking feud with.

The source claimed that Eiri is ‘shocked’ at the current sad state of affairs – but wants nothing to do with any of it. “She has George living with her and has done an incredible job at raising him. She’s an amazing mum. It’s a far cry from Adam’s life with Holly Ramsay, but she’s really happy.

“Eiri would never speak badly of Adam – he has provided for their son and helped ensure he has a very comfortable life. She is also a big fan of Holly. But she is shocked by everything that’s been going on.”

No longer with a lively online presence – posting just once a year for her son’s birthday, the source claimed, “Eiri is still an artist and lives a very normal life. It is full of love and happiness. It really is family first.

Of her relationship with Adam’s mum, they claimed they are still close: “Caroline is of course still a big part of George’s life and spends lots of time with him. If Eiri is busy and Adam away, she often steps in to look after him, like she did at the weekend for Holly’s hen night in the Cotswolds.”

Gold medallist Adam, 30, who went public with his romance with influencer Holly, 25, in June 2023 – is set to walk her down the aisle this Christmas. But it’s believed that his mum Carolilne has been banned from the wedding – and was noticeably missing from Holly’s glamorous Hen at Soho Farmhouse, Oxfordshire, which included close family friend Victoria Beckham..

At the weekend, Adam was seen being escorted from a plane on his return from his stag do in Bucharest – which his future father-in-law Gordon got an invite to – by armed police.

It came after the swimming star claimed he had received sinister threats during his weekend away that he would be physically attacked upon landing – leading to fiancee Holly calling the police.

While Holly was on her hen do, Adam’s mum was at home in Staffordshire looking after George.

The source claimed: “Eiri doesn’t want to be embroiled in any family row but she would be upset by this. She and Caroline have a close bond and friendship, and she would offer her support.”

Caroline’s sister, Louise, weighed in on the feud on Monday with an emotional post on social media, claiming her sister had been ‘banned’ from Holly’s Hen do and it had left her ‘broken’.

The White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood’s sister Emily lifts the lid on painful family split

The White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood and her sister Emily have taken the heartbreaking step of stepping back from working together, with Emily opening up about their seperation behind the scenes

Actress Aimee Lou Wood and her sister Emily have revealed the heartbreaking reason they no longer work together. The White Lotus and Sex Education star, 31, and her younger sister Emily, 28, who is a make-up artist, have long been open about their struggles with mental health. But now Emily has explained that the close-knit pair had to step back step back from collaborating with each other.

The sisters, who grew up in Bramhall, Greater Manchester, once lived together in London. Emily regularly created Aimee’s signature looks for events including the 2021 BAFTA Film Awards, the BAFTA TV Awards, and the Sex Education premiere. But as Aimee’s fame shifted, from Netflix breakthrough star to Emmy-nominated actress in The White Lotus, so did the pair’s relationship.

Speaking on the Breaking Beauty podcast this week, Emily was asked whether she still does her sister’s make-up. She replied: “No… It’s just something that’s a sensitive space because we decided years ago that we both struggle with our mental health.”

She continued: “We are very sensitive, hyper-vigilant people, and in a work environment, it’s just way more exacerbated because you’re perceived in a different way. I have complex PTSD… Aimee does too, so we need extra safety to feel even a normal level of safety.”

The make-up artist admitted that working so closely together had become overwhelming. “And I think then working together and me being very overprotective of her, needing to check in, and her being like, I just need to get through the day… it was just too much for us.”

The sisters ultimately decided to set boundaries to protect their relationship, with Emily sharing, “We were like, we need to – not that it would ever be ruined – but preserve the sisterhood. It’s boundaries. We needed to grow up and mature and it was actually the best thing we ever did.”

However, Emily went on to reveal that she made an exception to the rule: “I did her Burberry campaign earlier this year. She was like, obviously you have to do Burberry. It was a really fun day.”

Aimee has been open about her own mental health battles, revealing she has faced bulimia, body dysmorphia and social anxiety since her teens. “I still have moments when I’m really overwhelmed and stressed and I feel it coming back up, like, I could just take back control by not eating… Then I go, ‘No, I have to [eat]’ and I catch that and try not to get burnt out,” she told Radio Times in September.

Earlier this year, Emily also shared that the sisters had decided to live apart. “The space is essential. I now live with a best friend,” she said.

Their father Mike, 66, recently gave a candid interview about his own troubled past, revealing that his addiction to drink and cocaine wreaked “mayhem” on the family home. He said both daughters were “neurodiverse” and had inherited his “artistic streak, sensitivity and anxiety.”

Now sober for 22 years, Mike admitted that his chaotic past — including “brawls, binges and a breakdown that landed me in a psychiatric hospital.” He admitted: “During their first few years I was a pretty s*** role model. I caused a lot of mayhem.

“I probably influenced my children badly. If I can be a good influence now that I’m clean, maybe I can make up for some of that.” Their mum Alison, a charity worker, divorced Mike years ago.

‘I’m a PR expert, I know why Meghan and Harry’s Kardashian party photos vanished’

Prince Harry and Meghan recently stepped out at a reality TV star Kris Jenner’s glitzy birthday bash – but photos of the couple at the party were swiftly removed from social media

Fans were thrilled by pictures of Prince Harry and Meghan at Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday party, but then the images mysteriously disappeared.

The former royals attended the celebrity-laden bash at billionaire Jeff Bezos’ megamansion in California last weekend. The 007 themed party saw Harry don a suave tuxedo, while Meghan stunned in a black fitted roll neck top, and a matching skirt – reportedly a custom Balenciaga look.

It was the second high-profile event the pair attended that day, first appearing at the Baby2Baby gala in West Hollywood, before making their way to celebrate Jenner’s landmark birthday. The couple was photographed going into the glitzy bash, where A-listers like Tyler Perry and Beyonce also reported to have been in attendance. However, when Kris Jenner and her daughter, Kim Kardashian, posted photos including the royals on their social media profiles, the images were swiftly removed, leaving royal fans confused.

Meghan’s close friend, tennis superstar Serena Williams, had been the honouree at the charity gala they had attended first, and the pair beamed in photos at that event – images that remain available to view.

According to People magazine, sources say they were deleted was due to a consent form the couple had signed on their arrival at the party, on which they indicated they didn’t want photos of themselves to be published. But why so shy?

PR and communications expert, Mayah Riaz, told the Mirror: “From a PR perspective, there are a few possible explanations for this. The Kardashians are extremely media-savvy and highly strategic when it comes to their public image. If the photos featuring Harry and Meghan have disappeared, it’s unlikely to be accidental.”

“One possibility is that the Kardashians’ team decided the images might draw unwanted attention or controversy, particularly given the timing around Remembrance events. They tend to be careful about association with any ongoing public criticism or political sensitivities, and distancing themselves could simply be a case of brand protection.

“Alternatively, it could have come from Harry and Meghan’s camp. Their team is known for carefully managing their public appearances and media narrative, so they might have requested the images be taken down if they felt the coverage didn’t align with their messaging or could be seen as inappropriate given the circumstances.

“Ultimately, both parties are very conscious of how their actions are perceived and will always prioritise controlling their image. This looks like a classic case of reputational management from one or both sides.”

A source speaking to the Daily Mail claimed that Kim Kardashian had been somewhat annoyed by the alleged request from Harry and Meghan’s team to take down any photos of them, quoted as saying: “Kim was like, ‘you’ve already been papped outside and you were at the Baby2Baby event the same night being photographed like Meghan Trainor and Paris Hilton so what’s the problem?’ …Kim is pi**ed off”

However, the communications expert explained that two events aren’t really comparable from a PR point of view, with one “bolstering” Harry and Meghan’s “public image,” and the other “risking tabloid scrutiny”.

“The Baby2Baby event is a charity gala that welcomes media coverage and photo opportunities. Attending a high-profile charitable event allows celebrities to be seen supporting a good cause and reinforces a positive public image,” the expert explained. “From a PR perspective, it’s a very different context as there’s more openness to media exposure, and it aligns with the values of public service and philanthropy that Harry and Meghan often promote.

“As for the reported quote about Kim’s frustration, it does sound plausible. From her point of view, the inconsistency might be confusing, especially if Meghan and Harry were photographed elsewhere the same evening. But for their PR team, the distinction is clear, one event bolsters their public image, the other risks tabloid scrutiny.

“Ultimately, it comes down to control. Their team will always prioritise where and how they’re seen, ensuring every appearance supports the narrative they want to project.”
