The decision to split up comes almost two years after the pair were last seen in public together, with TV duo Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley making the announcement.
Comedian Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley have announced their shock split after 13 years of marriage. However, the duo were seemingly living separate lives in the build-up to the surprise announcement.
In a bombshell statement, the TV duo revealed today (July 29) that they are no longer a couple. However, the pair hadn’t been photographed together in public in over a year prior to the announcement.
In 2023, the couple’s final photo was taken side by side. On September 18, 2023, they showed up at the May Fair Hotel to watch the Ballywalter premiere.
She shared a photo of the pair getting ready for the occasion and then sat in the crowd in a post from that time on social media. Later, Patrick was greeted on stage.
Cat captioned the Instagram post, “Magical evening last night at the @BallywalterFilm! Celebrating the talents of the outstanding cast and crew, including @PatricKielty &, @SeanaKerslake, and @PrasannaBanana, (+ @EdiBow… the most hospitable host) The movie #BallywalterFilm will be released on September 22! “!
A month later and Patrick made his final appearance on the This Morning star’s Instagram page. And fast forward almost two years and the couple is no more after seemingly fading out of Cat’s social media presence.
It comes in the wake of Cat’s late-month lack of Patrick’s father’s day messages. The parents have two children.
The couple had relocated their family from Los Angeles to London in 2023 prior to their announcement. After spending fifteen years in the US, it arrived.
They now stated in a joint statement to the PA news agency, “We have decided to end our marriage. We are now separated.” No other party is involved, at all.
We will continue to be loving parents to our children, so kindly ask that you respect our family’s privacy. No further comments will be made.
Patrick hosted RTE’s The Late Late Show while Cat was the face of ITV’s morning show. She had previously discussed the difficulties they had having to balance motherhood and presenting the show. She acknowledged that the “juggle” was real.
Cat missed Patrick’s mother’s funeral in Northern Ireland in March of this year. A grieving Patrick was seen walking her coffin through the streets with her in heartbreaking pictures.
As Mary’s closest friends and family gathered for a ceremony at the Dundrum Church of the Sacred Heart, hundreds of people had gathered on the streets.
At the time, a spokesperson told the Mirror that Cat had remained at home to care for their young sons Milo and James. They said: “Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day.”
In 2002, the couple met while they were the hosts of Fame Academy. Nine years later, in 2011, they made their first public outing as a couple. In a ceremony in Rome a year later, they tied the knot.
Cat explained how her husband initially wooed her during a 2020 appearance on Ireland’s The Late Late Show, which was then hosted by Ryan Tubridy: “We had been friends for a very, very long time. She said, “Since we did the TV show Fame Academy and everything else,”
On birthdays and Christmases, we would always call one another, or we would occasionally see one another, or whatever. Anyway, there was a night that my birthday was being celebrated on. I can’t even remember the day it was today! Between 30 and 30 Anyway, he called me and hung up on me.
The mum-of-two went on to say: “He said, ‘Oh, what are you doing for your birthday? I’m just ringing to say happy birthday.’ I said, ‘Oh, we’re going to the Beverly Hills Hotel. We’re just going to have a late brunch; it’s going to be very civilised. It’s a shame you’re not here, otherwise you could come’. And he was like, ‘Well, eh I’ll be there’.”“Now, bear in mind at this point, Ryan, he was at the Maghera Inn down the end of the road, and in Ireland, I think it was approximately three o’clock in the morning, so I wasn’t too sure! I was like, ‘Yeah, yeah, sure you will. Sure you will, Charlie Big Bananas, sure you’ll be there! I’ll hold you a seat, how about that?”“Anyway, I didn’t know this, but he basically stumbled home from the pub, set an alarm clock, booked a flight to go back to Heathrow I think the first flight out.”
