Laura Whitmore’s decision to share their private messages has been criticized by Caroline Flack’s friends.
On the occasion of Caroline’s fifth birthday, the former Love Island presenter and the former Love Island presenter exchanged messages last week. Prior to Caroline’s suicide, Laura had taken over the popular ITV2 dating series’ host duties. And Laura’s decision to make their private conversation public is said to have stunned Caroline’s closest friends.
On her Instagram account, the Irish host shared a vintage photo of the two people together. In the five weeks that followed Laura’s acceptance of the Love Island job and Caroline’s passing, she also shared a number of texts.

The uploads showed Caroline saved as ‘ Flacky ‘ in Laura’s phone. In the message, she had expressed her wish for Laura. However, it’s thought that the message would have “stung” Caroline. Laura praised Caroline’s support in a lengthy caption that was included with the post last week. As she read back their final exchange, she continued, “it really hit me hard.”
She wrote, “My new phone arrived this month, and loads of old WhatsApp messages started showing up as I was trying to download them from my cloud. ones that I had previously assumed I no longer had but have since lost. It really hit me hard. looking at private messages that I’ve never publicly shared. They do, in my opinion, add a side to Caroline that makes her special. Hence I’m sharing now”.
Friends of the late star have questioned the actions despite Laura’s alleged attempts to show a loving side to Caroline. One told Mail Online: “Why would Laura do that? They were private messages between them, Caroline’s nearest and dearest wouldn’t publicly share private correspondence so why would Laura?
They continued, “Caroline was kind and would not have wanted Laura to think that she had a bad relationship with her, but Caroline was so upset about losing that job.” Nobody can really understand why she loved it so much; it seems in poor taste that Laura has promoted them. Even five years later, when you send a text to someone, you don’t anticipate that it will be shared in the public eye. Even though Laura acknowledges that the messages were shared in private, she still retained them.
The insider added that they were unsure of the benefits of spreading the message on a day of such poignancy. In February of this year, Caroline committed suicide. Her death came shortly after she learnt her criminal trial for allegedly assaulting then-boyfriend, Lewis Burton, was going ahead. She had initially been told that she would only receive a caution.
Caroline resigned from her position as Love Island’s host after her arrest, and Laura resigned. her place.
