As Britain’s Got Talent returns to our screens, last year’s winner Sydnie Christmas has opened up on what she has called a “whirlwind” year.

Sydnie, 29, was speaking exclusively to the Mirror prior to her recent show at the Glasshouse in Gateshead, which was part of her My Way Tour. Before taking to the stage to tell her fans her heartfelt story, she reminisced about her dramatic rise to fame.

The Gravesend native expressed her gratitude to the transformation of her life. She stunned the BGT judges with her flawless performance of Tomorrow from Annie, which Amanda Holden won with her Golden Buzzer in the auditions a year ago. She maintains that the future is promising, and she acknowledged that she is “dreaming big.”

(Melanie Appleton) Sydnie has started her first tour.

Sydnie insists that despite winning the ITV talent show last year and going on to perform in front of the King at the Royal Variety Performance and releasing a debut album, she still wants to give a big West End performance. “Of course it hasn’t changed”, she said. “You can’t walk in to a West End show, though. You must fit the role exactly. I’m still auditioning. There are things that I’m not right for and I don’t get, but that’s just that game.

” But, what BGT has done is put me on a pedestal for people to go ‘ oh that’s Sydnie’. So it does help. Because people already know I can sing, it makes it easier for me to enter the room. So it’s helped me in that respect. So, yeah I’m still dreaming and waiting. “

However, she confessed she would be happy with any work to do with performing, as long as she can keep on living her best life”. I’ve so many dreams, “she went on”. Every opportunity, I’m happy for. Just getting consistent work, then I’m living the dream. I’m content as long as it continues. Any of it. Any type of performing. Whether it be on the stage or whether it be this]touring]. I’m discovering that I adore it the most.

She also said she would love to do another album, and teased one” should be coming””. Yeah, I want to do it all, “she excitedly claimed, before adding with a laugh:” I don’t mean to be greedy. Dream big. “

She claims that her fans can now see the value in her real life story as she plays a number of dates on her tour. My goal [for this tour] was to simply share my story with those who know me from BGT. How I got here. It’s not always easy for viewers to understand. I make it funny, but it’s been very difficult. Numerous nos have been made. I hope to show people a bit more about me, really, the person they voted for.

And in fact, the show accomplishes that by blending her powerful vocals with heartfelt yet humorous tales about her journey to where she is right now. “I’m a story teller”, she went on. “It’s just weird telling my own story. I’m not acting as anything. I’m just simply being myself, which I’ve actually found the most scariest thing yet, but it’s been amazing”.

She further explained how, if she hadn’t “won Simon round,” she wouldn’t have won that first audition, everything could have been so much different. Amanda explained to the music mogul when she took to the BGT stage last January that she wasn’t a fan of the band’s song “Today.” “What could I think]at that moment]”, she said when asked if his eye rolling had affected her. “I was sort of like, well there’s nothing I can do now. I haven’t got another song. He would either like it or leave me alone. So, I was hoping I could change his mind. That was the plan”.

She won over all four judges as well as the audience with her flawless performance, without a doubt. In a moment she described as “the best experience,” she later admitted that it “completely wrapped up the BGT experience” and won the entire series.

Sydnie has defiantly warned others not to abandon their own passions despite living up to their dreams. Revealing her best bit of advice to those hoping to follow in her footsteps in years to come, she said: “Be brave, be yourself, and just go for it”.

And to those not yet ready to audition, she said: “Learn your craft. I have singing lessons all the time, so if you want to dance, take as many as you want. It’s a technique. So practice, practice, practice, do nothing else”.
