Viewers were horrified by Auzzy Blood’s audition during the launch of Britain’s Got Talent’s new series on the weekend.

Some viewers found the sword swallower’s trickry to be unsettling, despite the real name Austin Punton. In one section of the audition, he had to put a hook through his mouth and through his nose. Since then, Ofcom has received complaints about the act.

However, three of the ITV show’s judges approved of Auzzy, who has previously appeared on television and auditioned for America’s Got Talent, in the final round of the competition. Simon Cowell said that it was one of his “favourite” acts from that day’s auditions in his feedback.

Auzzy wore face paint and makeup, which included highlights of red on his forehead and around his eyes for the recent BGT audition. In addition, he was seen in his long-running character in black lipstick.

Away from his on-stage persona, Auzzy looks quite different. Although many of the act’s Instagram photos show him sporting a similar makeup for other roles, some off-screen scenes reveal him without makeup. They include information from his partner’s various vacations.

In a photo released on the platform prior to the episode’s scheduled release on Saturday night, Auzzy had showcased his outfit for the audition. Alongside the teaser photos, he wrote: “Guess what my freaky friends? You can watch my freaky face enthral the judges this Saturday on @bgt and watch it on Saturday. He then added in the caption: “You won’t wanna miss this one, I think I finally won over]Simon] with this performance”.

ITV viewers watched Auzzy audition shortly after the first episode of BGT’s new series. The other three judges were more impressed and let him proceed in any case despite the fact that Lesha Dixon had to press her red buzzer during the audition. Alesha said: “I can’t watch this act but I appreciate how good you are”. She later added: “I’m on the fence with you”.

On Saturday night (ITV), Auzzy had horrified some viewers with his audition for the new series of the ITV show.

Simon however said: “No one’s ever seen this before. This was one of my favourite acts of the day, genuinely”. Whilst Bruno Tonioli commented: “It’s almost like watching a new art form”. And, providing the final vote in his favour, Amanda Holden said: “For me, it was horrifically brilliant”. She continued to make fun of her by saying, “I’m going to say because I’m afraid to say no.”

The new series of Britain’s Got Talent continues on ITV, ITVX, STV and STV Player on Saturday night from 7pm.
