A Netflix fan has urged people to watch a 2025 thriller that has recently been added to the platform – but while she raves about its storyline, others have shared how depressing it is

A Netflix user is urging all subscribers to watch a “hard-to-predict” thriller that many are overlooking when scrolling through the platform. Elisha, known on social media as @elisha. fm, has hailed the film Night Comes Away as a “brilliant movie” – insisting it deserves your attention.

Helmed by Benjamin Caron and featuring Vanessa Kirby, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Zack Gottsagen, the IMDb synopsis states: “Risking everything to secure a future for herself and her brother, Lynette sets out on a dangerous odyssey, confronting her own dark past over the course of one propulsive night.”

Discussing the 2025 film, Elisha remarked: “This film had me on the edge of my seat. Imagine you’ve got 24 hours to raise $25,000 to save your family.

“Lynette, played by Vanessa Kirby, is going through it. Her family is struggling with the cost of living crisis, and I know a lot of people are going through that in real life.

“Her family is facing eviction, so she’s trying to do everything she can to save their home – and she goes on this rampage in 24 hours to try to raise the money.”

Avoiding any spoilers, she concluded: “I highly recommend this film.”

While some viewers echoed her enthusiasm for the picture, others slated its conclusion and deemed it too “depressing” to endure until the credits rolled.

One viewer commented: “I can see people misunderstanding this so much. Anyone who has ever actually struggled in life will really get this film. It’s an incredibly difficult and mentally draining situation.”

Another chimed in: “The movie was just OK, but Vanessa Kirby was amazing in it! One of the best actresses today.”

A third shared: “I watched it because this movie is trending at number 4 today on Netflix. I liked the story – but not the ending.”

Yet another added: “Everyone’s take is pretty interesting. I couldn’t finish it; I thought it was massively depressing. Maybe because I live in the city it’s filmed in, I don’t know.”

Over on IMDb, one fan said: “This is one of those films. No, it’s not glossy – it’s meant to be grim and low-budget. Their lives are hard, and the tone reflects that.

“The people complaining that her spiral is unrealistic have clearly never been truly desperate for long enough. A few quibbles, but overall a movie that is far better than the rating suggests.”

Another viewer added: “It felt real. It certainly was no Hollywood story – and certainly no Hollywood ending.
