Bolsonaro was discharged on Wednesday, according to a hospital note. His doctors reported finding early-stage cancer in recently removed skin lesions.

Since Thursday’s court ruling, Bolsonaro has been hospital twice and is currently house-assisted until his sentence is delivered. Before being released on Wednesday, he went to the DF Star hospital on Sunday to have eight lesions removed for testing, and then again on Tuesday due to vomiting and low blood pressure.
Doctors said in a statement on Wednesday that preliminary skin cancer had been found in two of the lesions, adding that Bolsonaro will require ongoing monitoring and periodic reevaluation.
The 70-year-old former army captain’s son, Flavio, wrote on X on Tuesday that he was taken to the hospital with “severe bout of hiccups, vomiting, and low blood pressure.”
Since being stabbed while campaigning in 2018, Bolsonaro, who served as Brazil’s president from 2019 to 2023, has had at least six related surgeries, the most recent of which was a 12-hour long procedure in April.
After convicting him of plotting a coup in 2022 against current President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Brazil’s Supreme Court sentenced Bolsonaro to 27 years and three months in prison on Thursday.
Since August, he has been under house arrest as a result of his alleged alleged attempt to impose legal pressure on Donald Trump. He isn’t clear whether he will be placed in prison or remain under house arrest while his appeal is pending.
