Brandon Blackstock, the ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson, passed away at the age of 48 after battling cancer. The couple had two children before splitting up, and the talent manager was married to singer Kelly from 2013 until 2022.
Brandon had been given a cancer diagnosis more than three years ago, a family representative told the media in a statement. They stated in a statement that “We are deeply saddened to learn that Brandon Blackstock has passed away.”
Brandon bravely battled the disease for more than three years. He was surrounded by family and passed away peacefully. We appreciate your prayers and thoughts, and we ask that everyone respect the family’s privacy in this challenging time. It comes after Kelly Clarkson abruptly postpones her Las Vegas residency due to a dispute with her ex-husband.
After revealing that Brandon had been ill, Kelly delayed her Las Vegas residency earlier this week. She took to Instagram to express regret for the delay in the release of the Las Vegas Studio Sessions for August.
“I need to be fully present for my children because their father has been ill this year, even though I normally keep my private life private.” I apologize sincere to everyone who purchased tickets for the performances and thank you for your patience, understanding, and kindness.
Brandon and Kelly had two children from previous marriages, including River Rose, 11, and Remington “Remy” Alexander, 9, respectively. After his eldest daughter gave birth to a son, he became a grandfather in 2022.
The former couple first met at a rehearsal for the 2006 Academy of Country Music Awards, when Brandon’s father Narvel was Kelly’s manager. Before the pair got married in October 2013, Brandon reconnected with Kelly at the Super Bowl after splitting with his first wife.
After their wedding, the talent manager hired Kelly as a client, telling Marie Claire in 2018: “I wouldn’t have hired Brandon if I hadn’t seen first-hand how great he is at that and how much he cares about Blake.
“And I would have hired Brandon regardless of how Blake’s] career has gone wrong. He excels in what he does, and his mind works in a completely different way.
In 2020, just weeks after their six-year marriage, Kelly and Brandon filed for divorce. She claimed in 2023 that the split “ripped her apart.”
The hardest part of divorce, in my opinion, is that it wasn’t an overnight decision, especially when it was made public and people assumed to be aware of it.
Anyone who has been divorced is aware of the years it took me to “make it work” and to “make it work” in the process.
