Billing Saves Napoli In Draw With Serie A Title Rivals Inter

Billing Saves Napoli In Draw With Serie A Title Rivals Inter

After scoring a late equalizer in Saturday’s exciting 1-1 draw in Naples, Philippe kept Napoli on Inter Milan’s tail.

Three minutes from the end, Denmark midfielder Billing scored his first goal for Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona to keep Inter at a point clear of second-placed Napoli.

Stanislav Lobotka, a 32-year-old on loan from Bournemouth, scored after scoring on a drive, but Josep Martinez saved his first effort when he pouted on the rebound.

Federico Dimarco’s stunning free-kick in the 22nd minute had initially appeared to be sufficient to put an end to Inter’s fight to retain the Scudetto.

With all three points, Simone Inzaghi’s Inter struggled for the majority of the game and needed some valiant defending.

However, Inzaghi’s team’s failure to win a significant game, which his players struggled to do this year despite dominating the division from beginning to end last term, will once more make them frustrated.

Antonio Conte’s team conceded the lead with three points from their four matches in February, which was previously expected to be a storm to win a second title in three seasons, so they could not have met Napoli at a better time.

Billing finally ended Inter’s tenacious rearguard action, which included a number of last-ditch lunging tackles and significant clearances, in his second game since signing in January.

Slow Atalanta

Atalanta, who lost at home for the fifth consecutive time in Italy’s top flight and remained third, three points clear of Inter, received a reprieve with Billing’s late leveller.

Since the turn of the year, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side has not won in front of their own fans domestically. However, they are still in the fight. Their unheard-of Scudetto bid is threatened by Atalanta’s recent performance on their own turf.

When we play at home against these kinds of teams, our defenses are constantly replete, Gasperini said.

You can see that when you consider how the other teams (at the top) are faring, but the boys gave everything and we were hoping to be first.

Five minutes before half-time, Davide Zappacosta hit the post with his clip, which was excellent work from Ademola Lookman.

Ionut Radu, a goalkeeper for Venezuela, and Lookman had a fantastic chance to play one-on-one before they lost. In the 82nd minute, the Nigerian international struck over from close range.

Mateo Retegui was also guilty of avoiding memorable opportunities as Venezia’s frequently flamboyant attack struggled to disintegrate.

Venezia’s chances of remaining top after the surprise point were a little diminished, but Eusebio Di Francesco’s team are five points clear of Parma, who are at Udinese in Saturday’s late game.
