Ben Affleck’s ‘best movie’ now on Netflix with unexpected sequel confirmed

Film fans have urged Netflix subscribers to watch ‘ Ben Affleck ‘ s best movie ‘ The Accountant, which is now available on the streamer.
A surprise sequel to the 2016 film, which will feature Christian Wolff as the titular character from Gone Girl, is planned for release in 2025. Some of the world’s most dangerous criminals use the autistic accountant to launder money.
In the first movie, Affleck’s character’s father refuses to send him to a treatment centre, against the his mother’s pleas. Instead, he instructs his son in martial arts and weaponry using his military background.
Wolff goes on to become a forensic accountant, using his skills and mathematical acumen to ‘ uncook ‘ the books of illicit organisations. He accepts a new robotics company as a legitimate client to deter the suspicious FBI, but as the death toll rises, he begins to uncover the truth about a significant financial discrepancy.
The Accountant Affleck’s best film has been praised by Rotten Tomatoes movie fans, encouraging those who missed it to watch it before the sequel debuts. One wrote on the film review site: “Without a doubt Ben Affleck’s best movie. Have seen this before and always liked it. excited to report that a sequel is in development.
Another raved: “I’m with the audience on this one, The Accountant is an excellent, fast moving movie. It might be Ben Affleck’s best performance to date, in my opinion. Your time is well spent, and it’s worth it. A third fan said: “Watch this if you’re an autistic man, you will have a blast!! There are a few tropes, but overall, I thought they were more motivating than what some articles would. Hilarious if you’re in the community. Although it was undoubtedly geared toward men, I believe the genre should have made that clear).
But despite high praise from fans, who voted the movie 77% on Rotten Tomatoes ‘ Popcornmeter, the Top Critics ‘ reviews are less enthusiastic. The Accountant received mixed reviews from the critics, who are film reviewers for verified media outlets, with 41% rating for the film.
The Telegraph’s Robbie Collin said, “The one equation it never manages to balance is the one that states that making a movie about Asperger’s Syndrome is a rip-roaring and completely non-problematic jape”
The New Yorker’s Richard Brody claims that the movie “piles up plotlines like an overbuilt house of cards that crashes down after the first well-earned guffaw of ridicule.” While Rolling Stone’s Peter Travers brands the film’s idea that Affleck’s ASD math’s genius is a “perfect assassin” is “offensive on so many levels, especially in the service of such low-grade crime fiction, that it’s painful to watch”.
The Accountant 2 will see Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, J. K. Simmons, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson reprise their roles from the first film, with Daniella Pineda among the actors joining the cast.
