Being A Nollywood Actor In Governance Not For Me, Says El-Rufai

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, claims he is not a politician who enjoys acting like some of his coworkers.

El-Rufai made the remarks on Saturday while appreciating an X user’s praise for his book, “A Accidental Public Servant.”

After reading the book, the X user claimed that only El-Rufai would be in his cabinet if he were to support economic development.

No politician would want El-Rufai in their cabinet unless they have a genuine desire to develop this nation, as I read El-Rufai’s book, Accidental Public Servant. He doesn’t know how to pretend”, the user wrote.

In his reaction to the post, El-Rufai said he doesn’t pretend, adding that “being a Nollywood actor” in governance is not for him but for some other politicians.

“Thanks for your kind words, @irahabib. Truly, I don’t know how to pretend. Some people prefer some people to some Nollywood actors, not others. Have a nice day. – @elrufai”

Recently, El-Rufai cricised his party the All Progressives Congress (APC) for abandoning its founding principles and fostering poor leadership.

“The APC is no longer my name.” No party organ has met in two years—no caucus, no NEC, nothing. You don’t even know if it is a one-man show, it’s a zero-man show”.

The former governor criticized the political party’s leadership style and attributed it to unqualified delegates.

“You cannot afford to have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people as your leaders. He claimed that this is the reason why we have today’s weak leadership.

El-Rufai’s criticism of the APC had prompted Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser on Policy Communication, to ask him if he would have shared the same views with him if he had been a member of Tinubu’s cabinet.

“My Senior brother, if you were to be in the government and cabinet, would you have held and expressed the same position? History is replete with examples. It is a government you participated in its formation, that you now want to unseat”, he said.

The former FCT Minister responded Bwala, saying: “I was cabinet minster 22 years ago, and was clear to Asiwaju that I was not interested in any position in his future government.

Perhaps you have a moral slack because of the way that all of you modern-day converts to the Tinubu government raise issues that I never wanted in the first place.
