After Tom Ravenscroft made the sad statement that he would leave the station, BBC Radio 6 listeners were horrified. The presenter, who is the late radio star John Peel, hosts two shows on the station on Friday nights starting at 11 p.m., including The Ravers Hour and New Music Fix Daily.

Tom and his departure announced in a statement that his final appearances will be on May 29 and 30. He declared, “Argh, this is a sad time.” I’ve made the decision to leave 6 Music, but the future is beckoning. I’ve met so many wonderful people through this job, and I’ll be forever grateful. It’s been a blast.

Tom shared the news on his social media page, and his radio and television fans rushed to the comment section to express their disappointment at his departure.

“OMG, you can do that trick!” We’ll miss you Thomas, DJ Deb Grant tweeted, and Lauren Laverne remarked, “You’ll be such a miss! ” For everything that comes next, lots of love and good fortune.

“Peerless DJ and beloved friend, I’ll really miss your face-melting selections, your dry wit, and your warm generosity on and off-side Tom,” Mary Anne Hobbs said.

Mary will return to 6 Music to play a new show on Sundays between 6 and 8pm on June 8th.

According to the BBC, the show will feature a ‘borderless world of music’ and have open conversation with the world’s ‘most fascinating artists’.

Returning to 6 Music and pulling up next to my teenage hero Iggy Pop was a joy, Mary Anne said in a statement. All genres, outliers to headliners will be present at the new show.
