This summer, a stellar lineup of major events will put women’s sport in the spotlight.
Wimbledon, The Hundred cricket tournament, and Queen’s Tennis will be broadcast live on the BBC, along with the women’s Euros, the women’s rugby world championship, and the women’s tennis championships, which will feature women who haven’t competed in more than 50 years.
BBC Sport is launching “Names Will Be Made,” a campaign that will honor sportswomen as they share their resilience, passion, and triumph, to mark the start of a special sporting summer.
The BBC has a strong legacy in promoting women’s sport and telling their stories to audiences, according to Alex Kay-Jelski, director of BBC Sport.
In 2025, there will be five sporting events that will make you happy.
Women’s Euros (2-7 July): From July 2 through July 2, all eyes will be on the Lionesses, who will attempt to defend their title as European champions in Switzerland. The Women’s Euros, their first major tournament ever, are also available to Wales. Follow the BBC live coverage of the event.
The Hundred (5-31 August): The annual cricket competition, which includes both women’s and men’s matches, as well as the opening and final matches, will be streamed live.
Women’s Rugby World Cup (22 August to 27 September): England’s Red Roses will be hoping to win the trophy in front of home crowd after winning the Women’s Six Nations. Every single second will be broadcast live on BBC One.
