Bayern beat Boca to seal Club World Cup last 16 spot

Bayern beat Boca to seal Club World Cup last 16 spot

Bayern Munich defeated Boca Juniors 2-1 in the opening match of the Club World Cup with Michael Olise’s 84th-minute goal in Miami Gardens.

Harry Kane sent the ball back to Olise, who lobbed a shot into the bottom left corner of the net following a scuffle in the penalty area.

After Kane gave Bayern a lead in the first half, Boca scored in the 66th minute to equalize the match.

Bayern (2-0-0, 6 points) defeated semi-proven Auckland City (1-2-0, 0 points) to win their Group C opener.

Boca Juniors (0-1-1, 1 point) still have a chance to advance, but they would need to beat Auckland City on Tuesday in Nashville and see Benfica (0-1-1, 4 points) lose to Bayern in Charlotte the same day.

Alan Velasco sent a pass from midfield to space for Merentiel to follow for Boca’s tying goal.

After beating Bayern’s Jonathan Tah to the ball, Merentiel rounded Josip Stanisic’s defender before firing a 12-yard, right-footed shot past goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and into the net.

Additionally, Bayern scored an impressive goal. In the Boca penalty area, Konrad Laimer fired an entry pass.

Kane took a heavy touch before firing a 12-yard shot with his left foot in the right direction. Kingsley Coman then knocked the ball back.
