Noel Fielding, the Great British Bake Off host, has been dating Lliana Bird for more than ten years, but the comedian has long been connected to a number of famous women.
The eccentric host of The Great British Bake Off, Noel Fielding, is set to jump back into his hosting duties on the Channel 4 show tonight as it returns for it’s sixteenth series.
Noel, 52, is renowned for his quirky style, often donning vibrant shirts or jumpers and an array of cowboy boots. His television career kicked off decades ago when he co-created The Mighty Boosh with Julian Barratt, a show that was hugely successful and earned him numerous awards in the Noughties.
The actor and TV presenter has since appeared in numerous well-known comedies including Nathan Barley and The IT Crowd before establishing his own Channel 4 program, Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy. Prior to his current role on Bake Off, he also served as the team captain on Never Mind the Buzzcocks.
But what is Noel’s life like away from the cameras? The Great British Bake Off star has had several high-profile relationships over the years, but is currently with long-term partner Lliana Bird, with whom he shares two children. Here’s everything we know about the TV star’s romantic history as he prepares to return for the iconic baking series.
Lliana Bird
Noel has been working with Lliana Bird, a 43-year-old broadcaster, podcaster, writer, and activist since 2010. When Noel is suddenly caught on camera, the couple, who live in a leafy suburb of Highgate, North London, live quietly with their two young children.
Noel and Lliana, who they affectionately referred to as Birdy, gave birth to their first child in 2018, and they named her Dali, presumably in honor of the Spanish surrealist artist Salvador Dali. Dali, their first child, is now thought to be seven years old.
Iggy, their second daughter, was just five years old when she was born in August 2020.
Birdy has appeared in numerous theatre productions in addition to her media career.
She co-founded Choose Love, a charitable organization that helps refugees and displaced people all over the world, and co-founded her own production company, Bird and Be.
She previously held the position of radio host for Radio X on Sunday evenings. Additionally, she co-authored The Mice Who Sing For Sex: And Other Weird Tales From The World Of Science.
The mother-of-two revealed last year that her debut children’s book was a “total dream” and that she had published it.
Posting on Instagram to her 32,000 followers, she shared at the time of it’s release: “I’m over the moon to finally be able to share some news I’ve been holding in for a long time. This September my first children’s book will be published, by the incredible Rocket Bird Books. I honestly couldn’t be prouder to be one of their writers… It’s a total dream.”
Delia Gaitskell
Noel had a relationship with Delia Gaitskell, a member of the film Robots in Disguise, before they started dating.
Dee, 48, has appeared in numerous episodes of The Mighty Boosh and occasionally with bandmate Sue Denim, possibly because of their first encounter.
Dee and Noel were together for reportedly ten years, but despite his current status as hosts of the Bake Off, it is said that during their relationship in his earlier years, the television host was helpless in the kitchen.
Ted, Noel’s father, claimed that Noel “freakly cooked for my daughter.” Ted explained that Noel would never do anything but order some pasta and some sauce, expressing his shock that Noel had been cast in the Bake Off. I’m surprised he’s doing the job. He never, ever, had any interest in cooking.
Even though Noel was romantically linked to a number of other women during his “wild phase,” including Courtney Love and Bob Geldof’s daughter Pixie, Dee and Noel continue to be close friends despite their separation.
Courtney Love
Noel frequently pictured with Hole vocalist Courtney Love, who was famously wed to Kurt Cobain’s Kurt Cobain. According to reports, the pair reportedly started dating in 2006, and later their close friendship turned into a blossoming romance.
Noel and Courtney, 61, were frequently seen holding hands and appearing intimate during London nights out in the Noughties, particularly in Camden, where he socialized with Amy Winehouse and Alison Mosshart from The Kills, who he is also said to have had a brief romance with.
Noel recalled a more reckless time in his Never Mind the Buzzcocks appearance when he admitted to using excessive amounts of cocaine and acknowledged that things were “a little dicey” before he became sober about ten years ago.
He recalled saying, “OK, you gotta go home now, you gotta go home,” while mimicking Courtney’s voice. It is over. Go home now that the party is over.
Pixie Geldof
Noel also had a romantic relationship with Pixie, the daughter of Boomtown Rats legend Bob Geldof. The Evening Standard reported that Pixie and Noel had been “canoodling” and “couldn’t take her eyes off him” in 2007.
Pixie was only 16 years old at the time, and Noel was 33 years old at the time.
Noel described Pixie as “unbelievable,” according to The Sun. Although she is much younger, there is chemistry between us and we liked each other.
He refuted claims that they were romantically involved, saying, “When I first met her, I had no idea who she was and how young. Because her father obviously wanted to kill me, it created many issues.
Noel maintained that the pair were “just friends” and rejected suggestions that they were ever romantically linked, but they were also photographed appearing intimate two years later in 2009 in a photo.
Noel said, “These things are just like fairytales aren’t they?” when he spoke at the Galaxy British Book Awards.
