Sex Pistols star Johnny Rotten makes astonishing Taylor Swift proposal after ‘snub’

Johnny Rotten, a punk rock star, has revealed he wants to date Taylor Swift despite the Swift fans’ harsh criticism of the “incredibly dull” singer.

Taylor Swift and Johnny Rotten are interested in performing a duet.

Sex Pistols icon Johnny Rotten has shocked fans by revealing he wants to duet with none other than pop megastar Taylor Swift – just months after branding her “incredibly dull”.

The punk legend, now performing under his real name John Lydon, admitted to The Mirror that despite once dismissing Taylor’s music as “swishy ballroom-gown” pop destined for Vegas, he now appreciates her success and wouldn’t mind teaming up.

“Those that make that kind of music, like Taylor, do it very well,” John, 69, said. She ought to confront me aggressively. Imagine the “duet” being played. Fans who recall his most recent criticisms have been enthralled by the reversal. However, it’s not his first mute that he’s been looking for.

He recalled once writing a bizarre song about freeing parrots from the Amazon while attempting to write a duet with Kate Bush. She said, “I can’t sing that. F*** off. ‘ He laughed, noting that it was not her exact words.

John is about to begin a 40-date tour titled This Is Not The Last Tour, which will begin in Bristol in May, after fronting Public Image Ltd (PiL) since the Sex Pistols disbanded. His first significant return to the road came after his 44-year wife, Nora Forster, passed away in 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Throughout her illness, John was her devoted carer at their Malibu home, finding strength in the memory of his own childhood struggle with meningitis, which left him with temporary amnesia at age seven.

He said, “I could look back and think, Wow, that served a purpose.” Nora’s memory would come back on her own, and I fully grasped how crucial that was.

John’s grief was made even worse by John’s best friend and manager, John “Rambo” Stevens, who passed away suddenly just months later. Despite the heartache, John has managed to maintain both his wit and sense of the absurd.

What was my favorite purchase for Nora? a Japanese toilet that used a bidet to spray hot water. She adored it. He deadpanted, “I’ve got hemorrhoids from it now.”

Hawaii, which was submitted for Ireland’s 2024 Eurovision bid, was also inspired by his love for Nora. Although it didn’t make the cut, John bravely performed it live on The Late Late Show before giving in during the broadcast. It’s too painful, I’m not sure if I’ll ever do it again.

John is now finding solace in painting a portrait of him and Nora that he admits he may never complete. “I may be Johnny Rotten to some people, but I’m actually John Lydon, a much more loving person.”

Despite his raw vulnerability, he hasn’t lost his bite. He’s taken swipes at Lady Gaga, the Rolling Stones, and even his former Pistols bandmates, who recently reformed without him, enlisting Frank Carter as their new frontman. John dismissed their reunion gigs as “karaoke”.

Yet he remains philosophical about his journey – from punk rebel banned by the BBC for God Save The Queen, to a widower with citizenship in the UK, US, and Ireland. He jokes about having to be “sponsored” by his Indian accountant to prove his Britishness when renewing his passport, a twist of irony not lost on the man who once spat fury at the establishment.

Should I be buried somewhere? Is that where I belong? I’ve lost two of the people I once loved, and I’m now the audience. It’s my definition of “family values.”

Regarding that Swift duet? There have been more dangerous things. Who would have imagined that the most well-known anti-hero of punk would end up praising parrot rescue missions, designer toilets, and singing with America’s sweetheart in a dream?

Denise van Outen in ‘great place’ after sparking romance with ‘businessman’

Three years after the heartbreaking end of her engagement to Eddie Boxshall, Denise van Outen is said to have found love again after forming a friendship with a businessman named Adam Butler.

According to reports that Denise van Outen is attempting to start a new romance, she may have a wonderful summer ahead of her. The 50-year-old TV icon had a rough marriage, splitting with singer Lee Mead in 2015, six years after getting married, and then being sucked into by Gogglebox fiance Eddie Boxshall in 2022.

Her most recent relationship, which ended peacefully in 2023 with a wealthy property developer named Jimmy Barba, came after several months of dating. However, it is reported that she has been out with businessman Adam Butler on numerous occasions.

The Big Breakfast legend has been enjoying some sun in the Maldives while on a work trip because she has been DJing there, and it is thought that Adam has accompanied her for some fun in the sun. Last month, the pair are said to have had a romantic dinner at the Akira Black restaurant in London.

After splitting from Jimmy in November 2023, Denise reportedly had been enjoying her single life but is now happy to be back in the dating business. According to some, Adam’s success in his own right is believed to be helping the relationship.

Denise loved being single and has been so busy working on her TV shows and DJing, but she hasn’t had much time with Adam.

They went public with a date last month at the Mandarin Oriental in London, Akira Black. Adam and Denise then took her to a DJ gig in the Maldives.

According to the source, Adam has been assisting Denise with her broken heart and they are enjoying life together. She continued, “She is in a great place in her life. They compliment one another so well because her career is on the rise and Adam is a successful businessman.

“All of Denise’s friends are thrilled she has found someone like Adam, he treats her like a queen.” The Mirror has contacted Denise’s spokesperson for comment.

Denise has been working and staying at the Velassaru Maldives resort – which describes itself as a private five star island resort. On Friday, the TV star took to Instagram and shared a highlights reel of her time in the sun-soaked hotel.

Thank you for the memories, she wrote beside the footage. This stunning resort is incomparable. Although I was hired to play DJ for a beach party, I was given an extra day to travel to the island because I adored it.

They have it all, with everything from the best cocktails to the most luxurious spa to the best food! Special thanks to CJ and Sharon for organizing my trip. I’m eager to go back. Bonus: This island is only 25 minutes by boat from Malé Airport, she added. It’s so simple.

Jimmy and Denise split up over the course of a year, but the couple said it was a mutual choice. We have made a decision to end our relationship, Denise said in November 2023, “But we are still close friends and our children are still in touch.”

The pair had previously been introduced by All Saints singer Shaznay Lewis, who was also a close friend of Denise’s, who reportedly felt relieved that she didn’t need to vet him in advance. Eddie Boxshall, the star of Gogglebox, admitted he had sexted other women behind his back, and Jimmy helped Denise move on.

She previously admitted that her relationships were difficult, but with Jimmy’s level of energy and his level of maturity, it was worth it. Sincerely, I think I’m in a nice, happy, and positive place. Nothing that I wouldn’t change.

Pulse keep 100% Super League record with win over Thunder

London Pulse’s excellent debut in the Netball Super League season was capped by a close call, 61-56 victory over Manchester Thunder.

With their sixth straight victory in as many games, Pulse moves six points clear of Thunder in the standings.

Olivia Tchine’s skill as a goalie proved crucial as she bagged 37 goals for Pulse, bringing her total to 223 for the season.

Elmere van der Berg, the Thunder’s counterpart, managed 16 in the end, beating the South African.

At the half-time mark, Pulse, who joined NSL in 2019, had a slim lead of 29-26.

Pulse once held a seven-point lead in the third quarter, but Thunder stayed strong and cut the deficit to 43-43.

However, the home team’s work-rate and clinical finishing ultimately paid off in the final game of the match at London’s Copper Box Arena.

The “could have gone either way” response

Funmi Fadoju, the player of the match, said: “It was a difficult match. We won over the line because both teams came out and wanted that win.

We knew they were a talented and capable team, so we simply needed to perform our own jumps first.

“It feels so good to be unbeaten. We feel like we can defeat any opponent because of how much confidence it gives us. We can presumably advance from this point forward.

Sam Bird, the head coach of the London Pulse, said, “That was a great game to play.” There was some really good netball all over the court thanks to Thunder, which were very strong.

We could have gone either way, but I believed we were more composed in the crucial last few seconds. We’re still pursuing improvements.

“We’ve been the most relaxed we’ve ever been, and I think that’s why.” We’ve already passed the threshold and have some good momentum going.

Karen Greig, Thunder coach, says, “I’m very proud of the girls. We were aware that today would be a difficult assignment for us, and there was some slack in the beginning.

The truth is that we have outperformed the superstar-filled London Pulse team. We could have extended the lead at one point in the fourth quarter.

Norris ‘on the right track’ in Saudi practice

Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia

Jeddah Dates: 18-20 April Start time for the race: 18:00 BST on Sunday

Lando Norris says he is “on the right track” for the Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia after setting the pace in Friday practice.

The Briton led teammate Oscar Piastri by 0.16 seconds on a day that was hampered by a Yuki Tsunoda crash.

At the end of the second session, the Japanese, who had previously raced in two races this season, clipped the inside wall and was thrown into the wall on the outside.

McLaren once more appeared to have an edge over the competition: Max Verstappen from Red Bull finished the day third fastest, at least on one-lap pace, 0.280secs ahead of Norris’ best.

Despite leading the championship by three points from Piastri heading into the fifth race of the season, Norris has acknowledged that he hasn’t felt comfortable driving the new McLaren since the start of the season.

He claimed he had been working hard to improve his confidence while driving on the fast-paced Jeddah street track.

A respectable first day, Norris declared. Because of how fast it moves, how many walls, and how many near-misses it causes, everything feels chaotic around here.

“Today, I’ve been working more on myself and my driving than probably on the car.” gaining more self-assurance.

“A good place to start, productive, and empowering. On the right path, from what I wanted to learn today.

We are confident, in my opinion, but the rest are not far behind. I had hoped for a bigger gap than it did today, probably. We are quick, after all. We are confident in our vehicle. Not as cozy as we would like.

Piastri once said, “I’ve been feeling pretty good and the car is moving.” I’ve made a few cuts, which I need to make better use of tomorrow.

Verstappen finished third overall, but the Dutchman was behind Ferrari and Mercedes in terms of race pace both during the first and second sessions.

The four-time champion said, “We tried some different things, trying to find maybe a different direction, and we came away with a lot.”

Still, not where I wanted to be. You have to move away from what you feel in the car, I don’t really look at the gaps. Although it is slightly better over a lap, our long runs were still very challenging.

Leclerc finished the day 0.48 seconds slower than Norris, but he did not finish the day with a clean lap on the day’s quickest soft tires.

The championship leaders’ advantage appeared bigger than ever at any race this season, despite the fact that he and Russell appeared the closest thing to a McLarens’ challenge on a race run.

A challenging day, Leclerc declared. It’s a very difficult track, and at best, one’s confidence must be very high.

We changed a lot about the car, but it turned out to be very positive because I learned a lot. I believe that once we adjust the window, the vehicle will experience a little more performance.

Lewis Hamilton, a teammate, however, acknowledged his difficulties. The seven-time champion was 13th place, 0. 622 seconds slower than Leclerc, and eighth fastest, 5 places, and 0. 506 seconds behind in the first session.

Hamilton called him “not the greatest.” Our main concern was getting the tires to work today.

“Sunday usually goes backwards, but there isn’t much going backwards for me to leave.”

“The car needs to be improved. A few times throughout the session, the soft tyre didn’t appear until the soft tyre is reached. Tonight, we’ll make some adjustments, and we’ll probably come back stronger tomorrow.

The late in the second session race simulation runs were halted by Tsunoda’s crash.

The left-front track-rod was damaged when he first struck the wall, which caused the car to crash into the outside wall, where the front right also suffered damage.

Allies say Ghannouchi ‘unjustly’ held, as he marks 2 years in Tunisian jail

An international committee established last year to raise awareness of Rached Ghannouchi’s imprisonment claims he is being held “unjustly” and on “trumped-up charges” in honor of the second anniversary of his arrest.

The former Tunisian parliament speaker and former leader of the Ennahdha party was imprisoned and ordered by the International Committee for Solidarity with Rached Ghannouchi to release him immediately.

More than 15 cases against Ghannouchi have been brought forward, according to a statement released on Thursday, and “several unjust convictions and sentences have been sentenced.”

The committee said that the most recent of these was a 22-year prison sentence that was handed down in February on charges of plotting against state security. “He has no connection to this case,” the committee said.

Ghannouchi was given a three-year sentence earlier this year for making allegations that his party received foreign contributions.

The 83-year-old, who has been the country’s president’s main rival, was detained in April 2023 and given a one-year prison sentence on suspicion of incitement.

He has spoken out against Saied frequently and became the most well-known person to be detained as part of the president’s ongoing consolidation of power. He was elected in 2019 and has overseen a wave of legal reforms and repression that grew his rule.

The committee stated in its statement that “these unjust trials and sentences occur within the context of a widespread repressive campaign led by Kais Saied’s regime, which targets opposition voices from all backgrounds, represses organized action in all its forms, controls the media and civil society, and silences critical voices.”

Saied’s government must “exploit the judiciary as a tool for settling political scores,” it said.

An era of political prisoners

Human Rights Watch (HRW) called on Tunisian government to halt its crackdown on opposition and release all detainees just days prior to the committee’s statement.

In Tunisia, Ghannouchi is being tried on conspiracy charges in the wake of the trial of prominent opposition figures, according to the rights group.

HRW’s report, which was released on Wednesday, reinforced the concerns of opposition leaders over Saied’s authoritarian rule, which was established when he dissolved parliament in 2021 and became legally able to rule by decree.

Saied’s action was deemed a coup by the opposition. He has refuted these accusations, claiming instead that he is attempting to end the country’s political unrest and widespread corruption.

According to the report, Tunis had transformed arbitrary detention into a framework for repressive measures.

Bassam Khawaja, HRW’s deputy director for Middle East and North Africa, said, “Said’s government has returned the country to a time of political prisoners, robbing Tunisians of hard-won civil liberties.”
