Sex Pistols star’s shock meningitis coma ‘helped’ him in wife’s Alzheimer’s battle

Johnny Rotten, a punk rock star, has revealed he wants to date Taylor Swift despite the Swift fans’ harsh criticism of the “incredibly dull” singer.

Sex Pistols legend Johnny Rotten – famed for albums like Never Mind the B******* – wants to duet with squeaky clean billionaire singer Taylor Swift.

His surprising revelation comes just months after he triggered a social media backlash from Swifties after calling Taylor “incredibly dull”. According to Rotten, the lead singer of Public Image Ltd. (PiL), who is now known as John Lydon, she is “one of those people that ends up in Vegas.”

In a ‘swift’ reverse ferret, 69-year-old Lydon now tells The Mirror : “Those that do that (kind of music) like Taylor, they do it very well. There was a period in music about 10 years ago when they were really out to kind of get her. I just thought all the boyfriends she dissed (on her songs), she deserves a go at me. Imagine that duet?

I once performed a Kate Bush duet; I adore Heathcliff. She wanted to do a song with me, and I wrote a song called Bird in Hand. Canoe trips to the Amazon, saving parrots, and releasing them in Florida were the goals. She said, “I can’t sing that,” and she was right. F*ck off. ‘ Although it wasn’t exactly what she meant, it did.

John, who as well as insulting Taylor Swift in February had a dig at Lady Gaga, saying about her: “I don’t feel any soul,” rose to fame as one of the main agitators in the Punk Rock movement of the 1970s and 1980s.

Famously banned from the BBC when The Sex Pistols dissed the Queen with their single God Save The Queen, with lyrics like “she ain’t no human being,” he has made more surprising revelations about his musical mentors.

He says:” The band who influenced me the most were Slade. The New York Dolls and Patti Smith? No, don’t bother with your beard and moustache. But Slade and The Ballroom Blitz, Elton John with Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting. Is that bad, Watford fans, is that not?

The Rolling Stones are also my favorites. Yes, I have slagged off the Stones in the past. Not, why? We are all envious of Mick Jagger’s sputtering rubber lips, don’t we? But songs like Street Fighting Man and Sympathy for the Devil – you can’t knock them. More than enough cattle can be produced if someone releases one excellent song. How do I approach music in that manner. I copy none of it. I’m not required to.

Fans will be able to get more of John, his music and, most likely, his controversial views, when Public Image Ltd kick off their 40 date tour – titled This Is Not The Last Tour – in Bristol on May 22. Before traveling to Europe, they will be playing shows all over the country.

Following the tragic passing of his wife, German publishing heiress Nora Forster, who passed away in April 2023 after a five-year battle with Alzheimer’s, John is making a comeback.

Up until her death, John – who was married to Nora for 44 years – acted as her carer at the couple’s home in Malibu, California. Before The Sex Pistols made a big-money move, they first met at Vivienne Westwood’s punk label Sex in 1975.

And John says his own battle with meningitis, aged seven, when he spent several months in a coma and did not recognise his parents once he regained consciousness, helped him to care for her.

When she got Alzheimer’s, John says, “I remember her because I had meningitis and she had meningitis.” You were unable to fully connect everything. At the time, the hospital told my mum and dad not to mollycoddle me, and things would come back. I found myself in my own way, despite the fact that it initially seemed cruel. They could have given me the best gift, in my opinion.

” That memory loss, when Nora was going through that with Alzheimer’s, I could look back on that and think ‘ Wow, that served a purpose. ‘ Don’t squander life experiences because they might come back and be useful. Nora got it, and that helped no end when they had to deal with her, like not asking her any questions. It would snap in her head and the memory would come back in her head on its own.

I had meningitis and that sense of accomplishment. Your memories did indeed return with meningitis, but those of poor Nora would fade and deteriorate as they did.

John’s recovery from his employment with PiL has helped him deal with Nora’s passing, which was followed by John “Rambo” Stevens, his manager and best friend, who passed away suddenly in December of this year, at the age of just 66.

The double tragedy rocked his world, but John says having a sense of humour helps him when it comes to remembering his late wife.

He says: “The favourite thing I bought for Nora? I ended up getting her one of those Japanese toilets that flushed nice hot water like a bidet, which was incredibly challenging.

She exuberantly laughed every time, which thrilled her to no end. I was very pleased with that purchase, but then Nora died and I have spent the last year sitting on this toilet and the hot water flush has give me haemorrhoids! The entire thing won’t stop.

“I just thought I would share that with you. She also used to wear a Donald Trump hat. She never lost her marbles. That was when she was starting to get ill, and I wrote Trump on a Union Jack hat for her.”

John paid tribute to Nora by writing a song in her honor called Hawaii after her passing.

The song was submitted as one of Ireland’s 2024 Eurovision Song Contest contenders, but it was unsuccessful.

John remembers: “Yes, we did the song, and that was Rambo, my manager’s idea. I had no intention of doing it.

I broke down that night because it was difficult to write the song, but I had to travel to Dublin to perform it live on The Late Late Show.

“I just cried my way through it as I am human. You know, I’m not sure if I’ll ever play that song again. Too painful is it. You put a full stop on it, and you move forward”.

Instead, he attempts to make Nora famous in a painting while admitting that it is still in progress, saying, “I have painted a picture of us both.” Although I don’t believe I will ever finish it, I am not in a rush. I may be Johnny Rotten to some people, but I am really John Lydon, a much more loving guy”.

Following his former Pistols bandmates’ recent decision to reform without him, John’s new PIL tour comes to mind.

The Pistols have hired Gallows and the Rattesnakes vocalist Frank Carter to replace John, despite John contributing to the band’s anarchist anthems, God Save the Queen and Pretty Vacant.

And The Pistols have played a string of dates across the UK, as well as the Royal Albert Hall in London, in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Back in 2021, John accused the surviving Pistols of collaborating on Danny Boyle’s Netflix biopic drama series Pistol without him.

John lost his fight to stop the Pistols’ music from being used in the 2022 TV drama, but the dispute reached the High Court.

In true Rotten style, John has more recently branded the Pistols reunion as “karaoke”.

When he discusses his life since he no longer calls himself Johnny Rotten, he says, “I have ended up with citizenship in Ireland, England, and America.

It’s fantastic, I think. What it means is that I don’t get searched when I come back to Blighty, which used to happen a lot.

They used to say, “Oh, it’s Johnny Rotten, yeah, let’s do a full search for him.” That used to occur frequently, didn’t it?

” How much Brussels sprouts and baked beans can you eat before a flight? They would find it less enjoyable, in addition.

“But I enjoy being an American. I love America, apart from the students who don’t study. My British passport just arrived, I believe. It was out of date, shame on me!

” I have to say getting it was hilarious. Johnny Rotten needed a sponsor to demonstrate that he was English, and I needed a sponsor too! I’m grateful for the support of my Indian accountant.

“But should I belong anywhere? Anyone interested in me anyway?

The audience has been left with me because the two people I loved left me. I call it family values. “

Danny Dyer and daughter Dani surprise locals as they film new caravan park show

The Dyers’ Caravan Park, a new series starring Dani Dyer and his daughter, Dani, was spotted filming in the rundown holiday spot.

Danny Dyer and his daughter Dani surprise locals when they film a new caravan park show.

Danny Dyer and daughter Dani were recently spotted filming for their new TV show, The Dyers’ Caravan Park, which will follow their investment in a rundown holiday site. The father-daughter duo work to breathe new life into the caravan industry after investing their time and money into it.

Dani was seen arriving on the set wearing a fluffy coat, a Louis Vuitton handbag, and baggy black pants in recent photos. Before the show’s filming began, she quickly changed into new clothes. Despite this, Danny wore a beige jacket, a matching sweater, and navy pants. As they prepared for filming, they were spotted circling the crew.

Despite investing in it, locals have argued that the duo has hardly ever been on-site. The locals claim that they only spent three days there this year.

The father-daughter duo was filming earlier this week, but some TV sources claim they won’t be visiting the site altogether for about 15 times.

Danny previously mentioned the new series, revealing, “I love a caravan, and I love a caravan site. I’m now in charge of one, with my daughter Dani by my side and the voice of reason.

I’m making an effort to make the most memorable British holidays once more cool with a few quid. This might turn out to be a success or a complete failure. However, the only way to find out is to roll the “f***ing dice,”

Dani said, “I love a caravan, so why not? My dad wants to get involved in the caravan park, and I’m all in.” Has my dad what it takes to succeed in this given that he is a very welcoming person and can bring everyone in?

‘Katy Perry launched herself into a PR black hole – her space stunt backfired’

As fans question the stunt’s environmental impact and how legitimate the journey was, a PR expert has given her opinion on Katy Perry’s 11-minute spacewalk.

Katy Perry has never been one to avoid a spectacle. She has built her career off of being bold, bright, and unapologetically out-there, dressing in candy-colored outfits and performing on cartoon stage shows.

But this week, Katy took “out of this world” literally – with a headline-grabbing trip to space. Only, the response wasn’t as positive as she might’ve expected. Instead, the pop icon found herself in a media storm as fans questioned the legitimacy of her stunt.

The pop megastar, 40, was one of six women to fly in the Blue Origin NS-31 from Texas on Monday in a mission funded by Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezo’s space exploration company. The 11-minute journey has been criticised for its questionable environmental impact, and for the bizarre and dramatic antics of the crew, including Katy.

What should have been a powerful moment of female empowerment, in the opinion of PR and personal branding expert Mayah Riaz, has turned into what she refers to as “a PR black hole.”

“Katy didn’t just shoot for the stars – she launched herself into a PR black hole,” Mayah tells the Mirror.

It appeared to be a slam dunk on paper. A woman in space inspires the next generation while pushing boundaries. However, it simply didn’t land for many.

“The big question is why she did it,” Mayah says. “In my opinion, this was a calculated brand move. Katy’s always been known for her eccentric image – she thrives on reinvention. A space flight fits with her whole ‘out of this world’ vibe.”

The gamble didn’t work out this time, though.

She got eye rolls, according to Mayah, rather than applause. Even some of the other celebs weren’t impressed. Everything has a tone and timing. Flying off in a billionaire’s rocket feels completely tone-deaf because of people’s financial difficulties and planet-related concerns.

And the attempt to incorporate a message promoting “femin empowerment”?

Mayah claims that “it felt forced.” You don’t buy empowerment with a space flight or a selfie in zero gravity, they say.

Katy also made her daughter known for the first time during the trip, adding an additional layer to the backlash, which ended up being overshadowed by the controversy.

According to Mayah, “that was a very personal reveal meant to humanize her.” Even that heartfelt moment felt out of sync or, worse, misjudged because of the incorrect backdrop.

Reports have since suggested Katy regrets introducing her daughter to the world. Mayah believes there is a way to recover, despite the possibility that the decision may have backfired.

That regret is “real and actually quite relatable.” Katie has the ability to completely revert to the overexposure and reshape those boundaries. That is wisdom, not weakness.

Mayah claims that Katy must remain calm in the wake of the criticism. She ought to address it. Fans want to know why she did it, what it meant, and, most importantly, how she is incorporating this feedback.

A sincere interview or open post on social media could be very helpful. Mayah claims Katy needs to follow up her empowerment message with action if she really wants to double down.

“Fund female STEM scholarships. collaborate with female aerospace engineers. That’s how you make the message meaningful.

Mayah believes that this incident doesn’t need to change Katy’s character in spite of the criticism.

“Cancell culture is a topic that we frequently discuss. However, no one is fired for a single PR error. When they reject it, they are terminated. She can make this mistake a breakthrough if Katy is humble and genuine.

Guardiola Motivated For Man City’s Champions League Push

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, claimed that motivation to qualify for the Champions League next year comes from being forced to watch the final stages of the competition from his sofa rather than his couch.

For the first time since the 2012-2013 season, City dropped out of the play-off round to Real Madrid in February.

Guardiola failed to make it to the last 16 for the first time in his managerial career, but he enjoyed the spectacle this week as Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, and Inter Milan all secured spots in the last four.

Guardiola praised his team’s performance on Friday, saying “they’ve been good games”. It serves as a motivation. To qualify for the Champions League, it is not a bad thing.

“Hopefully next season we can compete with the major clubs in Europe and do so in a better way than we have this year.”

Havertz Could Make A Champions League Remark:

In a fight to finish first in the Premier League, City and City face a 15th consecutive year of champion football.

With six games to go, Guardiola’s men are still one point ahead of Chelsea and Aston Villa.

Despite the team’s unprecedented four successive Premier League titles, Guardiola acknowledged that the results could have been much worse for his side following a drastic drop in their standards this year.

He continued, “We could be in a very lower position in the Premier League.”

“We are currently fifth, but some say we could be 11, 12, or 13 or 14. I’m confident in everything. We’ve been bad, but that’s up to us.

For City’s Saturday trip to Everton, Erling Haaland, John Stones, Nathan Ake, and Ederson are still out.

However, they might welcome back Manu Akanji as their first guest this month while Phil Foden, who suffered a knock, was unable to play last weekend’s 5-2 victory over Crystal Palace.

Utilita Bowl, Division One, Rothesay County Championship (day one)

Somerset 94-6: Lammonby 36, Wheal 2-18

Hampshire: Not yet batted

Somerset had no points, and Hampshire had no points.

As Hampshire made the most of the opening day of their County Championship game against Somerset, Kyle Abbott continued his impressive career record.

Abbott added two wickets, bringing his total against Somerset to 71, with 40 of those scalps coming on an average of 12 at Utilita Bowl.

As Somerset fell to a score of 94-6 at lunch, with three wickets falling in 11 balls just before the break, James Fuller and Brad Wheal, who also took two wickets.

However, the visitors’ injuries were spared because of the rain, which ended with lunch.

James Rew was named captain of his country for the first time in the Championship due to Lewis Gregory’s abdominal injury, having previously led the Second XI and England Under-19s. He became the youngest county captain in history by doing so.

Ben Brown chose to bowl under threatening grey skies because his first act called incorrectly at the toss.

Sean Dickson was hurriedly dealing with a Wheal in-ducker and was pinned in front, so the wait for the first wicket only lasted 34 balls.

Archie Vaughan and Tom Lammonby tried to lay a foundation, but both fell within 13 deliveries of Fuller after easing a 55-run stand.

Sonny Baker, a former Somerset tearaway, had been chosen to replace Fuller in the season’s opening two games. However, Fuller is still available because Baker, who is currently working for the ECB, was let go.

He tightened up before rolling his fingers down one to find some unmoving movement and the edge of Vaughan’s bat after being hit for two boundaries in his opening over.

Fuller angled it across the left-hander to avoid Lammonby. He then pitched it further up. Through Brown, he found the edge.

Around 10 minutes until lunch, the morning appeared to end fairly evenly, with 93-3, but Abbott made it clear who the session was with Wheal.

With his wicket, Tom Banton was unlucky in the least. Nick Gubbins sensationally caught the middle-order batter as he whipped a half-volley with gusto.

Rew hesitantly pushed back five balls later. Before Wheal slammed for pace and letting Kasey Aldridge out, Tom Abell added one more run before he was beaten for pace. One run and three wickets were all lost in 11 balls.

A late finish was confirmed just before 16:30 BST due to the rain at lunch, which prevented any further action.

‘Ripple effect:’ In US, anti-immigrant policy strains child and eldercare

Camila was aware that she would have to watch out when she saw the Trump sign in the yard.

Camila* had arrived at a home in North Texas to meet the new family, for whom she would nanny, in February 2025.

The 22-year-old college student has never had legal documentation, but that has never been a problem. According to her experience, many families prefer to pay their childcare workers in cash. Despite this new family’s unique challenge, More Trump paraphernalia was found throughout the home’s interior. Camila says, “Trump everything, everywhere.” The father apparently works for Fox News.

Camila told Al Jazeera, “It was very ironic. There are two ways that a “hey, this is my legal situation” could have turned out. They might not have cared, or they might have instructed me to leave. And who knows what might have transpired then?

In the end, she made the decision to concentrate on her responsibilities as a mother-of-two. Camila’s uncomfortable encounter and the “chill” caused create a bigger issue.

The US’s childcare, home care, and elder care sectors have long been supported by immigrant labor, including undocumented workers. In light of Donald Trump’s second administration’s anti-immigrant policies and policies, including the threat of “mass deportations,” those struggling industries are now facing fresh threats that, according to experts, could have a “ripple effect” on millions of Americans.

According to Lori Smetanka, executive director of the National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care, “people are not showing up for work because they’re worried about workplace raids.”

And kids “have been really worried about their parents and whether or not they’re going to be coming home at the end of the day,” she continued.

“Attempted from every angle.”

The US Immigration Council and organizations like the American Immigration Council map the trillions of dollars immigrants’ taxes and spending power contribute to the US&nbsp.

However, some industries are particularly vulnerable to changes in immigration policy.

For instance, nearly 30% of direct care workers in the US are immigrants, according to some studies. These roles have a far-reaching impact on communities across the nation, according to numerous experts who spoke to Al Jazeera.

According to Smetanka, “some of the policies that we’re seeing being put into place have ripple effects.” The policies, she continued, “are having an impact on immigrants’ ability to enter this country and obtain citizenship, feel secure there to stay and work, and provide the services that are required in those communities.”

Trump removed the “sensitive areas” guidance that had stymied immigration raids in places of employment, including churches and schools, shortly before his second term. Additionally, the government is denying or putting off H-1B visa applications, which goes against a ten-year trend of reducing access to a job-finding program.

In his announcement regarding the April 2 tariffs, President Trump stated that “we want people to enter our country, but we want them to enter through a legal process.” We need people to run these plants, and we need them to assist the autoworkers, the union workers, the non-union workers, and everyone else.

The president’s administration has restricted legal options by halting the refugee resettlement program in the face of this rhetoric. Then, in an interview on April 15, Trump suggested a new pathway for “great people” who could re-enter the country and obtain permanent citizenship if they first emigrate, and then get sponsorship from an employer.

Additionally, the president has suggested that applicants pay $5 million for a “gold card” visa.

The migration policy institute’s policy analyst Colleen Putzel-Kavanaugh claimed the main goal of the policy is “seeming to be to bring wealth to the US.”

One would need to consider both the number of visas granted and the extent to which the legal pathways for immigrants are expanding, whether strengthening them reduce irregular migration, or the length of the visa processing process.

In other words, Trump’s plan to allow more immigrants through a “legal process” in his April 2 speech would require making visas easier to obtain, something he failed to do in his first term, when the rate of so-called legal immigration declined.

School administrators, nursing home leaders, and daycare providers are unsure of their options for hiring and how to protect them as a result of the revocation of their temporary protected status.

According to Wendy Cervantes, these modifications were intended to “attack immigrant families from every angle.”

The Center for Law and Social Policy’s director of immigration and immigrant families, Cervantes, and her team recently held a webinar to provide technical assistance to childcare providers in the US. More than 1, 000 people showed up, according to her, as a result of the “stress and fear” created by the new administration’s immigration policy.

She told Al Jazeera, “People are worried about staff as well as the parents,” adding that “they’re worried about the staff.”

In consequence, childcare administrators are learning about the ins and outs of warrants, including what kind of documentation and information required from an immigration officer to be permitted on the premises.

She said, “This understanding at least gives them some agency.” However, it’s incredibly frightening in that area.

“I want to stay,” the statement read.

Cervantes wants people to realize how much their lives are shaped by immigrants, in contrast to the economists who study the effects of deportations.

This is especially true for those whose families have ties to the elder care, home care, or childcare industries. In rural areas, 40 new counties have turned into nursing home deserts: areas where residents must travel long distances to get much-needed care. In addition, nearly 20% of all US seniors reside in rural areas.

When a nursing home closes, it leaves a community gaping, according to Smetanka. Patients who were likely to have few options at the time of their employment are left to find a new home in a rush. Similar to Cervantes, it’s difficult to quantify the harm done to a child’s psyche when they’re afraid of being deported. It’s also difficult to quantify the economic and psychological effects of this on a family or a community as a whole.

Despite all of this, Smetanka says it’s crucial to keep in mind that immigrants want to stay in the US and continue to work in places like nursing homes. Direct care workers’ average hourly pay increased by less than $3 between 2014 and 2023, but immigrants still have a lot of interest in the field of healthcare.

You won’t be able to replace the 10 people you deported with 10 American-born workers, says Austin, Texas’ Sarah Valdez, an immigration lawyer who practices law in Austin, Texas.

Camila, a nanny from North Texas, is one of those people who accepts long hours, little pay, and long hours. Although she chose the field because she needed to pay for her school and enjoys working with kids, she may not have chosen it for a long-term career.

She frequently feels as though she spends just as much time with her clients as their parents do. Her typical day includes waking up at 6 am and working until around 10 pm, as well as finding time for studying and classwork whenever she has free time. She has assisted a number of children in coping with divorce and unexpected family deaths, among other things.

I’m not sure what will happen to me because of everything that is going on in the world right now,” she said. I’m just taking it week after week, day by day. But I’m aware that I’ll stay. Simply put, I’m happy to be here at this moment.
