Prince William is in a “power struggle” with the King as they work out a future for Prince Andrew, according to an expert. The disgraced Duke of York was welcomed into the Royal Family fold to celebrate Easter with them at Windsor Castle despite recently dragging the King into an alleged Chinese spy scandal.
It comes as despite being forced to stand back from royal duties more than five years ago, Andrew was assured by his older brother that when he ascended the throne, he would not be shut out of family gatherings. Andrew joined the King and Queen at the service along with other members of the Firm last weekend but missing were the Prince and Princess of Wales, who skipped the service to spend time together as a family in Norfolk.
William is understood to be reluctant to spend time with his uncle Andrew, 65, at any family gathering. And speaking on True Royalty TV’s The Royal Beat, the Mirror’s Royal Editor Russell Myers explained: “Is it a convenient truth that Andrew was going, William has no time for him?
When the King claimed that William was overthrown, “William was absolutely influential in banishing him at the time when he was forced to step down from his duties. However, William disputed the King’s decision to re-establish him as a member of the family and the King ruled.
“So we have this sort of interesting power struggle going on and I imagine you know that hopefully in a long time in the future when William is King, he [Andrew] will be nowhere to be seen around the family.” The Prince of Wales was instrumental in Andrew’s banishment from royal life, after his disastrous Newsnight interview in 2019 which exposed his relationship with the late billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
A royal source told the Mirror earlier this week: “William has no time for his uncle. This Easter was about spending time with his own family, but he would far prefer a situation where he doesn’t have to spend time with him.”
By arranging for Andrew to spend time with him and the extended family at Balmoral in the summer of 2023, the King overruled William in favor of dissolving him. The Princess of Wales was pictured in the back seat of William’s car when he was driving his uncle to Crathie Kirk Church on Sunday. Andrew was reportedly “cookahoop” because he was no longer an outcast, according to sources.
When offered a smaller home on the Windsor estate, he soon found the King and senior palace officials’ wrath for refusing to leave his 30-room Royal Lodge mansion. Andrew was identified as having an “unusual degree of trust” with Yang Tengbo, a Chinese businessman who had been banned from Britain allegedly due to his ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
A senior royal source said: “The Duke seems to be in the habit of being a significant contributor of headaches for the family and many have run out of patience with him.”
Meanwhile, Andrew has told close friends he is “going nowhere” and told the King and the Crown Estate who own Royal Lodge, that he has a “cast iron lease” that he signed for 75 years in 2002 amid a row over whether he should remain at the property, which is in desperate need of renovations. Work did start on the roof and crumbling facade of the property last year but has since ground to a halt.
Now sources say he is looking to project manage renovations himself and even taking on some of the landscaping in a bid to save money. One royal source said: “The Duke has been walking around the estate a lot recently, speaking to staff and asking for tips on managing the grounds.
The entire area needs a lot of care because it has fallen apart. He has been enquiring about various shrub and tree species, as well as whether it is possible to relocate or move some trees. Given everything he has going on, he definitely has a spring in his step and is significantly cheerier lately.

*Asif Dar unapologetically realized that “all eyes were on me” as he passed through the narrow and crowded streets of Jalandhar, a city in the northern state of Punjab.
And their gazes weren’t friendly.
Dar recalled that “I felt like everyone in the audience was committing retribution.”
Two unidentified people approached them as Dar and a friend stopped by an ATM and inquired about their ethnicity. They ran away in a panic. Dar left his home the following day, April 23 to purchase milk. According to Dar, “Three men saw me and hurled islamophobic slurs.” One of them yelled, “He is a Kashmiri, everything happens for him.”
26 tourists were killed and dozens injured when gunmen opened fire on tourists in Kashmir’s resort town of Pahalgam on April 22.
The killings have also uncovered the nation’s religious and ethnic divides, even though New Delhi has attributed the attack to Pakistan, which an armed group claimed sought secession from India.
Kashmiris living across India have reported being heckled, harassed, and threatened by far-right Hindu organizations or even their classmates as the Indian government searches for the attackers in Kashmir’s dense jungles and mountains.
Shopkeepers are refusing to trade with them, and landlords are pushing Kashmiri tenants out from Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh. As they make their way home, a number of Kashmiri students are sleeping in airports.
The deadly attack was carried out by another person. Dar responded, “And we are now left here to pay the price.”
India and Pakistan both claim the entire region of Kashmir, but they also rule in some places.
Islamabad has accused the Pahalgam attack and “cross-border terrorism” of being directly involved. Pakistan refutes the accusations, claiming that it only gives moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiri nationalism. India has claimed that it has not provided any proof of Pakistan’s involvement in the Pahalgam attack, which has sparked a tense standoff between the nuclear-armed neighbors: both countries are evicting each other’s citizens and reducing the diplomatic effectiveness of their missions in their respective capitals.
However, Kashmiris are most enraged by the attack from Tuesday inside of India.
A further ten Kashmiris who spoke with Al Jazeera, who were speaking anonymous, claimed they had locked themselves inside their rooms in at least seven cities in India and stayed away from online purchases and cab reservations.
In Jalandhar, Dar attends a second-semester class studying anesthesia and operating theatre technology. Dar has for the first time left Kashmir and his parents to pursue higher education.
In a phone interview, he said, “I want to study hard for my future because there are no opportunities in Kashmir.” “I will be able to support my family if I do well here.”
But he finds solace in the actuality. Dar claimed that as a result of his term exams looming down his spine, he has grown anxious and depressed. He claimed, “I have forgotten everything I have learned in these months.” I may stay non-attendant [at class], return to my home, or go home because “my head just doesn’t work.”
He said, “There is mistrust everywhere I look.” Our faces and features reveal our ethnicity, and we are also cursed.
Multiple survivor accounts emerged shortly after the attack, suggesting that the gunmen had separated the attacked tourists according to their religion. 25 of the 26 people who were killed were Hindu men.
The identity of the 26th victim, a Kashmiri Muslim man who attempted to stop the attackers from killing the tourists, was largely overlooked in the roost of anti-Kashmiri and anti-Muslim sentiment that has permeated Indian social media since Tuesday.
Sheikh Showkat, a political analyst and academic from Kashmir, claimed that “today’s India is high on xenophobic propaganda that has been unleashed for some time and mostly targets Muslims.”
Being a Kashmiri and a Muslim, he said, “Kashmiris bear a double burden.” They are “the simple targets always.”
The leader of a far-right Hindutva outfit issued a chilling warning on Tuesday in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand state, nearly 350 kilometers (217 miles) away from Jalandhar.
Kashmiri Muslims, leave by 10am, or else you’ll face action you can’t imagine, according to Lalit Sharma, the Hindu Raksha Dal leader, in a video statement. All of our employees will leave their homes tomorrow to treat Kashmiri Muslims this way.
*Mushtaq Wani, a 29-year-old Kashmiri student in the city, was soon receiving similar warnings on his social media accounts.
Wani, who is older than the majority of Kashmiri students in the city, started getting panicked calls from others as he pursued his master’s degree in library science. He said, “We took the threats seriously.”
Kashmiris have been subjected to violence in the area: shortly after the Pulwama suicide bombing attack that left at least 40 paramilitary personnel dead, Kashmiri students were imprisoned in Dehradun, assaulted, and forced back home. Several people left the city.
Wani lamented, “This is what our life is like.” Why can’t India defeat the militants in a single attack? “This happens again and again. There are so many troopers, and there are so few militants in the country that someone kills someone and causes havoc for our lives.
Wani has coordinated the return of at least 15 students to Kashmir since the threats. For his own good, he is studying for his term exams starting the following week while locked up inside a friend’s home. We are scared and don’t feel safe, but he claimed that if I miss my exams, I could lose a lot.
Wani claimed that Sharma, the far-right leader, was apprehended by the police and that he was relieved that they had been given assurances that the authorities would protect their safety.
Omar Abdullah, Jammu and Kashmir’s newly elected chief minister, pleaded with other state chiefs on X to ensure the safety of Kashmiris after videos of frightened Kashmiris and of their physical assault in nearly half a dozen Indian cities surfaced on social media.
Later, Abdullah retorted, “I request that the Indian people refrain from treating Kashmiris as their enemies.” “What transpired did not occur without our knowledge.” We are not adversaries.
In the midst of a communications blackout, the Indian government unilaterally revoked the region’s semi-autonomous status and divided the former state into Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The Jammu and Kashmir government currently has far less power than any other provincial administration, with New Delhi largely in charge.
South Kashmir resident Urs Parray has been a student of pharmacy in Jammu for five years. The union territory’s two administrative blocks are Jammu and Kashmir, which both have Hindu and Muslim populations.
Before Pahalgam, he claimed, life in Jammu had been normal. He claimed that “the Pahalgam attack changed everything.”
Prior to this, Parray would take friends on late-night walks to ice cream shops with them. Parray hasn’t left his house in a Kashmiri neighborhood where many people live since the attack.
Descent riders riding through the neighborhood the night after the attack blared horns and yelled “Jai Shri Ram,” a traditional religious anthem and a rally cry for the far-right movement that has recently been transformed into a war cry.
Later, a video of men running after Kashmiri students in his nearby lane emerged.
He claimed, “We have never seen anything like this.”
A Kashmiri student was brutalized by the mob in Janipur, Jammu, last night, despite being a Muslim and being a Muslim.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son has wowed fans with his impressive weight loss after he was spotted in a rare public appearance while out with his family – but he’s not the only son to make recent headlines.
Schwarzenegger, Christopher is the 75-year-old legendary actor’s youngest child, whom he shares with ex Maria Shriver. Heading to a family gathering on Easter Sunday, Christopher, 27, was pictured with his older brother and White Lotus star Schwarzenegger, Patrick, 31.
Christopher wore khakis and white Henleys with a dark teal Henley. His chiselled jaw was defined by stubble, while he also wore round brown glasses. A swept-back quiff, along with a new hairstyle, also appeared on him.
The son of Arnold started a fitness journey in 2020, and Patrick’s birthday party in Malibu at the time, he was the first to see him again in 2023, looking trim after leaving the gym.
Chris was then spotted on April 19, as he was seen leaving Restoration Hardware restaurant in West Hollywood where he met up with his family, including Maria, Patrick with his model fiancé Abbie Champion and their two sisters – Christina, 33, and Katherine, 35, and her actor husband Chris Pratt. He left with Patrick and Abbie while Maria got into her son-in-law’s Chevy.
But their famous father wasn’t in attendance. It comes as actor Schwarzenegger, Patrick has made a name for himself in the latest season of HBO’s The White Lotus, and was at the centre of a particularly eyebrow-raising scene. Here, the Mirror takes a look at Arnold’s five children, including his secret love child.
Schwarzenegger, Katherine, 35, is the eldest of the actor’s children with his now ex-wife Maria Shriver, 69. She’s pursued a career as an author over the last decade or so.
She is credited as having written a children’s book and several self-help books, including the New York Times best-seller Rock What You’ve Got, which was released in 2010. Katherine has been married to actor Chris Pratt, 45, since 2019. The couple have two children together, with them parents to daughters Lyla, two, and Eloise, one.
Arnold’s second eldest child is Christina Schwarzenegger, 33. Her career has included her having worked as an editor at Gwyneth Paltrow ‘s lifestyle brand Goop.
She’s also a founding member of the Special Olympics Founder’s Council, with the sports organisation itself founded by her late grandmother Eunice Kennedy Shriver. Christina is credited as an executive producer, alongside her mother Maria, on the Netflix documentary Take Your Pills (2018), which explored the use of certain drugs.
Schwarzenegger, Patrick, 31, is the eldest son of former couple Arnold and Maria. He has followed in his father’s footsteps by having pursued a career in acting himself.
The actor has appeared in movies like Midnight Sun (2018) and TV shows like The Staircase, and has been dating model Abby Champion, 28, for a while. Together with his mother, he co-founded the MOSH brand, which aims to “create a conversation about brain health through food, education, research, and provide the tools for a “mindstyle” lifestyle.
He has since played Saxon in White Louts on HBO. Patrick has never resisted showing off his toned body, having recently gone as far as wearing a full-length outfit as well in scenes from The White Lotus, which attracted a lot of online attention. Additionally, he performed incest scenes that shocked viewers.
Schwarzenegger, Christopher, 27, is the youngest child from Arnold’s marriage to Maria. And unlike his siblings, he has largely kept himself out of the spotlight.
However, his family has provided insight into his life on social media, including Arnold’s expression of pride after Christopher graduated from the University of Michigan. He said, “I burst with pride because of your compassion, your work, your vision, your critical thinking, and your selflessness,” as he said at the time in 2020.
He currently serves as the Los Angeles-based production company’s director of development for the world-renowned film and television network Indus Valley Media. A source close to Hollywood Life reported that he had started working out and making better food choices after losing weight recently.
He spent a few years away from home, where he lived and where a typical college student would go, but he is now mature and prepared to take better care of himself.
While he was married to his then-wife Maria, Arnold had a son named Joseph Baena, 27, with Mildred Baena, the family’s 62-year-old housekeeper.
Joseph – who competed on the latest season of Dancing with the Stars, which was broadcast last year – is understood to be a bodybuilder, fitness model and actor. He has pursued other opportunities too, including having launched a career as a real estate agent in 2021. And according to his Instagram profile, Joseph is also DJ.
In June 2023, a previous version of this story was released.

Osamede, a historical fantasy novel from Nigeria, will make its debut at the Pavillon Afriques on May 17 at the Cannes Film Market.
The film’s entry represents a significant development for Nigerian cinema as it continues to gain popularity abroad.
Osamede, a young orphan girl in the Benin Kingdom who discovers superhuman abilities tied to the ancient Aruosa stone, is a film that was directed by Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) winner James Omokwe (Ajoche, Riona, Itura, Chetam) and executive produced by Lilian Olubi. Her goal is to free her people from British rule.
“With Osamede, we’re revolutionizing how African historical narratives are presented, despite the export of music and movies abroad.” Production values and storytelling rival Hollywood fantasy epics, according to Olubi, bring the mythology of the legendary Benin Empire to life in this movie.
Ivie Okujaye Egboh, Lexan Aisosa Peters, William Benson, Tosin Adeyemi, Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen, and Alexander Bud are the film’s stars. In a similar vein to The Woman King and Black Panther, it joins the growing canon of African historical fantasy works that are gaining worldwide notoriety.

Osamede, a stage play created by Olubi’s Gold Lilies Productions, is a cinematic adaptation. The film had a pre-tested narrative foundation similar to successful Broadway-to-screen adaptations, and the theatrical version was performed 12 times to sold-out audiences.
Beyond just being a fantasy movie set in Africa, “Osamede goes. We’re using the fantasy genre to reclaim our historical narrative with this movie.
We’re continuing to develop African historical fantasy based on true Benin Kingdom mythology, as Black Panther did for Afrofuturism. In a way that hasn’t been seen before, director Omokwe said, “our approach combines authentic cultural elements with cinematic spectacle.”

The world’s appetite for culturally rooted storytelling is growing as a result of the premiere. The rich, underexplored heritage of the Benin Empire is highlighted in Osamede, which also provides an opportunity to showcase the commercial potential of African historical fantasy.
The movie’s Cannes screening is in line with Nigeria’s wider plans to expand its film industry internationally. It builds on the momentum created by My Father’s Shadow, which will be the first official Cannes film from Nigeria this year.
Both movies represent a breakthrough for global recognition for Nollywood, both present in the main festival selection and the film market simultaneously.
Osamede is a historical fantasy set during the Benin Empire’s British invasion in 1897.
According to Benin mythology, a young orphan girl discovers extraordinary abilities linked to the sacred Aruosa stone, an artefact thought to be a divine gift from Osanobua.
The production, which was shot on location in Benin City, Nigeria, excels in terms of historical accuracy and cultural authenticity by seamlessly blending traditional elements with sophisticated visual effects to create a fantasy world.
