Michelle Obama reveals huge ‘blow’ she faced when having kids – and why she snubbed Trump

On the new podcast Diary Of A CEO, the former first lady and Steven Bartlett discuss their lives.

Michelle Obama is now in her 60s, but she claims that she is only just beginning to put everything together. She smiles and says, “As a woman, I think I’m finally owning my wisdom in a way that I didn’t,” I believe that women must be like, “I think I know a thing or two” until we’re about 60.

There would be few people who could argue with that. Michelle describes herself as a “box checker” someone who like ticking off lists and planning. But no list could prepare her for the life she has had. The former first lady was born in DeYoung, Illinois, on January 1964, to parents Frasier Robinson III and Marian Shields.

Michelle Obama enjoys Steven Bartlett’s interview on The Diary of a CEO.

She attended Chicago Public Schools with her older brother Craig, and she quickly excelled in elementary school. She was raised in a rented home in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood. Michelle adds, “I knew my parents loved us, and that’s a strong tool to have in your toolkit when you go to school every day,” despite the fact that the family didn’t have a lot of money and Michelle was raised in a shared bedroom.

Planning her life out then saw her gain at law degree from the prestigious Harvard Law School. She was hired by the Chicago corporate-law firm of Sidley & Austin, where she specialised in entertainment law, and was ultimately assigned as advisor to summer associate Barack Obama in 1988.

Barack Obama appeared in my life as the opposite of a box checker, but he was not the person I described in my book as the ultimate swerve, as I had met him at the same time. On the podcast Diary Of A CEO, she recalls that he was brilliant and fascinating.

He was actually attempting to unpack life in a way that people of my generation were not attempting to, and I decided, I must do more before I give in, and I think Barack helped me find the courage to do so.

Michelle subsequently worked in nonprofit companies in the States and as the associate dean of Student Services at the University of Chicago.

And Barack showed plenty of courage himself in the political world to get to the White House, winning the presidential election which meant Michelle was in the White House with husband between 2009 and 2017.

Michelle and her husband, who wed in 1992, were trying to conceive in the Nineties while also facing political pressure.

She discusses her struggles with fertility and IVF, saying, “Imagine your life as you’re checking boxes: I’m waiting, I delayed having children, I’ve found the love of my life, and I’m going to become pregnant.”

No one can prove that there is a biological clock, so you assume it will be like a box, and it will happen in that way. That is not true.

The biological clock is ticking as we wait for our lives to be perfect, which we really tried, which turned out to be perfect for our careers, as we matured, and have everything set.

She continues, “So when it happens to you, a box checker, someone who believed life would be going to be this and you did all the right things, and you know it was going to be that way and no one told you to be so that you be prepared for it, it just was a blow. And then you walk around with the blow as though it was your fault as a woman.

Thankfully, they were blessed to have two daughters, Malia born in 1998 and Natasha, who was born in 2001.

However, Michelle acknowledges that their time in the White House wasn’t always straightforward because of this.

Although Hillary Clinton and I were distinctly different, we were at a different time. The White House had a few small children, which wasn’t unusual. The West Wing simply didn’t consider or work to fully protect all of us as a whole in terms of accommodations and methods.

Since Barack’s time as President America has changed in many ways and the White House has a very different occupant in Donald Trump. Michelle has been vocal against him and chose not to attend his inauguration alongside Barrack, which saw her forced to deny rumours of marriage problems in April.

“You know, as a box-checker who has been doing the right thing her entire life, attempting to always set a example, always going high,” she says.

I believe I just self-proclaimed, “I think I’ve done enough of that,” and I’m never going to do it. It won’t ever suffice. So let’s get things started.

And while she may not like everything she sees right now in America or a lot of political issues, her husband still inspires hope.

She says, “You are not mad at me, I’m not mad at you,” reflecting on the current state of American leadership and the divisions among some. You have been told a lot about who people of my skin color are, and you don’t really understand what the world is all about. Because of what you’re going through, you’ve been taught to fear me.

I understand why people are afraid when you put yourself in someone else’s shoes. Barack helps me remember, and I do understand it. He says, “This is still the country that elected Barack Obama twice,” you know.

Business leaders and those in power who want power and haven’t understood their “why” can lead us into some dark tunnels, no, really, right?

“But it’s the empathy for me, that perspective-giving ability that prevents them from accepting all the hate and truly see the light in people,” he said. It’s just a better way to live; it prevents embarrassment, fosters optimism, and keeps people working for them. It’s a bit necessary to get past it.

Bartlett also thanks Michelle for her life’s impact during the podcast. He said that as a young black man who was “navigating the world and looking up role models that aren’t often in close proximity to our lives,” and that Michelle was a “huge source of inspiration.”

Afterwards he told the Mirror: “Sitting down to chat with Michelle Obama was one of the most significant moments of my career to date. It was also illuminating. What began as a conversation about leadership became something deeper — an honest and intimate exploration of Michelle’s fears, her marriage, and her journey to becoming who she is today.

For one, I’ve never heard her talk about her story in this way. It is undoubtedly one of DOAC’s most powerful episodes, and it represents a genuine moment for everyone who contributes to the program.

Michelle’s brother and co-host Craig Robinson also appear for the heartfelt and candid feature-length interview.

US judge limits Trump’s push to rapidly deport migrants in Guantanamo Bay

The Trump administration’s efforts to deport migrants held in Guantanamo Bay have few protections, according to a federal judge in the United States.

District Judge Brian Murphy in Boston issued a ruling on Thursday, saying that the government must allow immigrants to voice concerns about the safety of the nations they are deported.

The decision is the most recent development in concerns about Trump’s expansive interpretations of executive power and immigration law.

The decision is a victory for immigrant rights advocates who claimed that the administration had flown four Venezuelans to El Salvador from the US military base in Cuba in violation of a previous court order. However, it is still to be seen how the White House will respond.

The administration argued that the order only applied to the DHS, not the DHS, which was in charge of the flight.

The Tren De Aragua gang has frequently made similar claims with little supporting evidence, despite the Department of Justice’s assertion that three of the four Venezuelans who have been sent to El Salvador belong to the administration, which has frequently accused them of being held in Salvadoran prisons, where abuse and torture are frequently alleged.

In extreme isolation and without legal counsel, according to immigrant rights organizations, migrants are being held in Guantanamo Bay, which was previously a detention facility and torture site during the so-called “global war on terror.”

A lawsuit brought on behalf of two Nicaraguans being held in Guantanamo states claims that “officers at Guantanamo have created a climate of extreme fear and intimidation where immigrant detainees are afraid to communicate freely with their counsel.”

As they proudly held hands while spending quality time together, they both beamed at the camera. “Back out on tour – together again,” Penny gushed.

Rod is due to take to the iconic Pyramid stage at the 2025 Glastonbury festival in the traditional Sunday Legends slot later this year.

He stated in a statement at the time of his announcement, “I’m proud, ready, and more than capable of enjoying and titillating my friends at Glastonbury in June.”

However, he later revealed performing at the music festival would cost him a huge amount of money – but he insisted it was worth it in order to play to fans on Worthy Farm.

He stated on TALKSport in November that it was a “great honor.” However, he admitted: “It’s going to cost me a fortune to do it – $300, 0000 (£236, 832)”.

Rod explained the enormous financial burden by saying, “I’ve got to bring all of my band back from America, of course Glastonbury don’t pay for that.

” But I don’t care if it cost me $1million (£789, 440), I would have done it. It’s a great honor to do this. It is in fact the greatest honor.

Rod is also heading out on a world tour this year, which kicks off in Dortmund, Germany on Saturday. It will be a mammoth seven-month trip across the world as he performs in Europe, North America and South America.

Penny will be on hand to support the rocker, as she recently opened up on their home life together. Rod is the father to eight children: Sarah, Kimberly, Sean, Ruby, Renee, Liam, Alastair Wallace, and Aiden Patrick, from relationships with five women: Susannah Boffey, Alana Stewart, Rachel Hunter, and his spouse Penny herself.

On Loose Women: The Podcast, Penny spoke with Coleen Nolan about her and the extended clan of the “Maggie May” hitmaker.

She acknowledged that she was unsure of “what it would be like” when your children moved out with a”new wife” after filing for divorce.

It’s a little blended because there are five mothers, Penny said. She later stated, “I really considered what it must have been like for the mother to be around Rod Stewart’s kids.”

“Liam and Renee, Renee was seven and Liam was only five. So, while still very young and impressionable, I couldn’t help but think of how challenging it must have been for those kids to divorce, let alone to find a woman to live with.

She continued, “I guess I just wanted them to see that dad was happy, and if I was the one making dad happy and they still communicated with each other and still made the important decisions about things, it was just tiptoeing.”

Emma Willis back on TV for first time since heart surgery in ‘groundbreaking’ show

Just a few weeks after she revealed she had keyhole heart surgery, Emma Willis, the former Big Brother host, will return to television with her husband Matt Willis.

Presenter Emma Willis will be back on TV next month just weeks after announcing that she had surgery on her heart. She has teamed up with her husband Matt Willis for a new project and details of its release have now been confirmed.

Emma, 49, and Matt, 41, will front the four-part BBC series Change Your Mind, Change Your Life. It’s been teased that the show, which is centred around mental health, will see them work with therapists to “explore how they can help us navigate the challenges that modern life throws at us”. The show is set to launch with its first episode on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on May 13 from 10.50pm. According to a schedule for the channel, the second episode of Change Your Mind, Change Your Life will then air from 11.40pm.

Back in February, the BBC made the first announcement about the upcoming project, which was at the time known as Inside Therapy With Matt and Emma Willis. Then, it was referred to as a “groundbreaking new format” that offered “mental health experts behind closed doors unprecedented access.”

At the time, the show’s details were made public. For the first time, cameras show actual therapy in action as people from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences work through the issues that affect their lives at a specially designed clinic, capturing the real-world breakthroughs and real-world instances of change as they occur.

Therapy has played a significant role in both of our lives, both individually and as a couple, Emma and Matt said in a statement released at the time. We are aware of how powerful that can be and how it has given us the tools to better understand ourselves and each other.

With this documentary series, “we’ll hear from incredible experts and observe what actually happens in the therapy room,” to help remove the stigma and start conversations. We’ll meet those participating and closely follow the procedure, which we hope will demonstrate the benefits of talking about mental well-being.

We want to give people a window into the therapy process and share resources to help them navigate their own difficulties because we know that therapy isn’t always simple to access. Asking for assistance is never a weakness; it is one of the bravest things you can do.

The release of the show comes after Emma announced last week that she had surgery following the discovery that she had a hole in her heart. The former Celebrity Big Brother host shared the news with fans in a post on Instagram.

It included a series of photos showing her in hospital. Emma was joined by her husband Matt – whom she said had been supporting her in the caption – in some of the photos that were part of the presenter’s post on the platform.

Emma expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Royal Brompton Hospital staff for their care and support. Keyhole heart surgery occurred a few weeks ago, and the writing process is strange and even stranger when I say it loudly. They were absolutely incredible from their last year of investigations to their diagnosis and then surgery. As was [Matt], who remained committed to my side.

Turns out, I’ve been pottering around in my heart’s eye for 48 years without realizing it. Isn’t it crazy how our bodies are acting in ways that we have no idea about?

The miracles of modern medicine and the incredible people who save, fix, and assist us every day, she continued, “blows my mind even more.” Can you picture how exhausting it must be to have those hands? They are the true “superstar”

Emma went on to name people whom she had met through the experience in the post shared a week ago. The Voice host wrote about their support in the caption that accompanied her photos and expressed gratitude for her surgeon.

Just a day later, Emma was seen for the first time since the news whilst attending events in London. She was at a BAFTA nominees’ party last Thursday evening, after reportedly going to a press night for the musical the Great Gatsby, which has now opened at the London Coliseum.

On May 13, BBC One and BBC iPlayer will air Change Your Mind, Change Your Life starting at 10:50 p.m.

Paul Hollywood rushes to pilot’s aid after horror plane crash in field

After crashing his plane into a field, Bake Off star Paul Hollywood was able to save him from a collision in Thorne Hill Minster, according to a pilot.

A pilot was saved from a plane crash by Paul Hollywood yesterday.

A pilot has recounted how Bake Off’s Paul Hollywood came to his rescue after he was left blinded and struggling to breathe when his plane crashed. At noon yesterday, shortly after departing from Manston Airport in Kent, disaster struck for 58-year-old Iain Stingemore when he found himself plummeting to the ground just moments after taking to the skies.

Between the catastrophic failure and his plane crashing into a field close to Thorne Hill, Minnesota, the pilot had 15 seconds to act.

Following a plane crash, Paul Hollywood intervened to save a pilot.

However, celebrity baker Paul Hollywood came to his rescue in an extraordinary twist of fate, with the Channel 4 star practising flying nearby. The Great British Bake Off judge was mid-way through a flying lesson withPolar Helicopters when he made an impromptu landing to rush to Stingemore’s aid.

The shaken gas engineer recounting the incident to KentOnline, said that Paul Hollywood was checking if I was okay while he was taking a flying lesson, adding, “It wasn’t how I planned to meet him, but he checked if I was okay.” I said to him, “I don’t think you intended to do this during your lesson,” I don’t think so.

People from all over Manston rushed to get the plane back after the local community quickly rallied to support it. Despite the agonizing ordeal, Mr. Stingemore attributed his thorough training and flight knowledge to his successful escape.

Following a “emergency aircraft landing,” five fire engines responded to the scene. While Mr. Stingemore escaped with minor injuries, only getting a “damaged pride” and a graze on his leg.

When Mr. Stingemore described the accident as “I was about to fly back to Stoke in Medway.” The canopy came off about 15 seconds before I landed as I was leaving Manston and crossing the road to the right.

“I was climbing about a hundred feet. I was unable to breathe or see anything.

Mr. Stingemore described a neighbor’s well-intentioned but comically improvised efforts as “the owner of the house next door rushed out to help,” adding a lighter note to the story. He purchased a box of rusty tools to move the aircraft to the airport.

Since Mr. Stingemore’s previous one is beyond repair, he is already planning his return to the skies tonight in a different aircraft.

He continued, “It takes a few seconds before you realize there is no way out,” referring to the hair-raising moment. You must set up the plane to make it as level and flat as possible, thankfully, and I was very well-trained.

“It has the potential to be a lot different. In this circumstance, a lot of people are in panic.
