Florence Pugh in ‘utter shock’ after discovering ‘crazy’ truth about family’s past

On a brand-new series that combines cooking and genealogy, actress Florence Pugh made a surprising discovery about her family’s past. The actress appeared on No Taste Like Home with Antoni Porowski, and she was “utterly shocked.”

The six-part series, executive produced by Gordon Ramsay, is available to stream on Disney+ from today (February 24). Antoni, a hostess for Queer Eye, follows celebrities as they learn about their ancestors through food.

In the episode titled ‘ Florence Pugh’s English Odyssey’, Florence and Antoni headed to Oxford, where the actress grew up, before venturing to Yorkshire, Whitby and London as they traced her ancestors ‘ movements and the food they enjoyed. However, one surprising revelation about her lineage left the star in ‘ utter shock’.

As the pair ate oysters in London’s Columbia Road, Antoni handed Florence a piece of paper which had a crucial detail about the daughter of her great, great, great grandparents, Johannah Becht.

“You’re aware that today we got to meet little Johannah,” you ask? Well, she met a Welshman by the name of Lewis Pugh as she grew up, Antoni said. “That’s where the Pugh came in”.

Johannah and Lewis went on to have a daughter who it was swiftly revealed was named Florence Pugh, born in 1882, prompting the present-day Florence’s mouth to drop open. “No”! she exclaimed. “I feel quite emotional. There’s already been a Florence Pugh”.

“Your parents never mentioned anything”? Florence explained that her family named her after the city, so Antoni inquired. “My parents had no idea. The city gave me the name “I.” My mum’s going to scream”, she said, before later admitting that she was still in “utter shock” after learning of her namesake.

In a tragic twist, it was revealed that 19th Century Florence Pugh didn’t make it past her fifth birthday.

“Because of the air quality and the pollution here, quality of life was really tough”, Antoni began. “Little Florence, unfortunately just shy of her fifth birthday, passed away. Most probably from tuberculosis, that was the case with most children in those times”.

Henry Golding, Awkwafina, Awkwafina, and Issa Rae, who are also actors in the series, are just a few of the other stars. The episodes will also be broadcast on the National Geographic Channel, with Florence’s first one aired on February 26 at 10 p.m.

The series synopsis reads: “From Italy, Germany and the UK to Senegal, South Korea and Borneo, Antoni takes celebs on epic journeys to explore their ancestral and culinary roots”.

No Taste Like Home with Antoni Porowski is currently streaming on Disney+. On February 26, at 10 p.m., the National Geographic Channel will also broadcast the first episode.

Inside Traitor’s winner Leanne Quigley’s home with fiancee Sophie – from military photos to animal-themed nursery

Leanne Quigley battled the Traitors for more than a month in a castle built in the 19th-century Scottish baronial style. However, she lives in a much cozier home than her husband Sophie Jones and their two sons, Harley and Hudson. Leanne and Sophie have chosen soft neutrals and many sentimental nods to their IVF babies, but neither oak panel nor tartan armchair can be found in the room.

When OK! when we arrive at the home in North Wales, which is five minutes’ drive from the nearest beach, the gorgeously clutter-free kitchen, which has a large window and patio doors that flood with light.

The couple, who got married in 2021, are obviously house-full, but they have fully embraced the mess that will eventually result, even if that means spending a lot more time tidying up afterwards!

“We love family time at home. Where we live is so idyllic”, says Leanne. “I mean, we tidy up 15 times a day, as these twins are wild! But it’s so nice to feel normal again. Life’s not been normal for a long time”. Sophie adds: “My family’s close by. Additionally, Leanne’s mother and sister are moving away from the house, so “we might even enjoy some date nights”!

The two were also at ease at home while Sophie’s breast cancer diagnosis and subsequent intensive treatment were being treated. After discovering a lump last May, the then 32-year-old underwent several chemotherapy sessions, blood transfusions, and an operation to remove the tumour and lymph nodes.

Their caramel-coloured home, which is full of soft textures and personal photos, gave them a space to escape the clinical-feel of the hospital, and somewhere they could just enjoy being with their boys. There are numerous Harley and Hudson photos all around the house, some of them in their military garb, their wedding proposal, and of course, many of them in their uniforms.

Now that Sophie is cancer-free and the madness of The Traitors is over, it’s onto family’s next big thing – planning a wedding to take place as soon as Sophie’s hair has grown back following her chemo, Leanne says.

“It will probably be next summer. I do not want a cold wedding”! laughs Sophie, adding that, because the twins are still small, and Leanne’s younger sister being disabled and unable to travel far, it will likely be local. “

Leanne claims that there will be many of her former Faithfuls and Traitors on the guest list because they joked about getting married in Ardross Castle, where The Traitors is shot.

” Like Sophie, I don’t really care as long as there’s family and good vibes. We’ll definitely invite the Traitors gang, and Claudia]Winkleman], of course! On that program, I made lasting friends. We don’t go a day without speaking. The WhatsApp group is never ending. Even so, Sophie and their partner relationships are excellent.

Peter was born in the UK, but when he was 10 he and his Greek-Cypriot family moved to Australia’s Gold Coast. In the 1990s, he moved back to the United Kingdom, but he also travels there frequently.

“I’m very blessed in so many ways”, he said. “The only thing is my parents – I would give everything else up 100 fold just to have them in full health and back to their youth, but, unfortunately, life isn’t like that”.

Venus Williams turns down Indian Wells wildcard

Venus Williams, the former world no. 1, turned down a wildcard for the Indian Wells tournament in the upcoming month.

The 44-year-old had been invited, according to organizers last week, but the seven-time Grand Slam champion has not contacted him.

The event was posted on X in a statement attributed to tournament director Tommy Haas, which read, “Our team has been informed that Venus is not accepting the wildcard this year.”

We wish Venus the very best of luck and anticipate seeing her return to Indian Wells later.

Williams hasn’t played a WTA Tour match since losing in the Miami Open’s first round in March, which places him 974th overall.

She previously stated on the TennisWeekly podcast that she would not participate in the Indian Wells tournament, which runs from March 2 through March 16.

Williams boycotted Indian Wells for 15 years after her younger sister Serena’s fans heckled and booed her in the 2001 final against Kim Clijsters.

The siblings’ semi-final, which Venus had left injured, gave the impression that the jeers were aimed at her.
