Boasting 972 reviews, with a resounding 86% bestowing 4 or 5 stars, this swing chair is a favourite among Amazon shoppers. One thrilled customer beams: “Lovely, comfortable swing. Absolute bargain for the price and swift delivery. Highly recommend. ”

Further praise comes from this buyer who says: “We bought it last summer. We enjoyed it and then packed it away for winter. Recently we have brought it back outside for this year’s pleasure. It is still smart and sturdy for the new season. Thank you for a wonderful garden swing. ”

Even more glowing praise comes from this shopper who gushes: “Nice for relaxing in the garden all year round. It’s strong and sturdy and good quality. The canopy can be removed for washing and if the seat looks a bit dirty I just scrub it with some warm soapy water. Obviously, it’s great for relaxing in the sunshine during the summer months but I decided to wrap fairy lights around the frame and now I love sitting outside in the autumn evenings with my lights on, a snuggly blanket and glass of wine. The frame took me and my husband a hour or so to put together. Read the instructions and follow the steps carefully as it can be a bit confusing due to there being so many pieces. Definitely worth the money. ”

A fourth enthuses: “ This has been the best of all I have purchased is Amazon. I always rock my baby to sleep on this hammock during summer, autumn, spring and winter. If it’s raining I even brought it inside the house. After few months of use, you just have to apply a bit of all on the handles of the swing to avoid loud squeaking. We are using it for almost 2 years now, and it never had rust on it because we took care of it. Definitely recommended. ”

And this 5-star rater shares: “I’ve always wanted a garden swing and this was too much of a bargain to miss at £55. It was a bit awkward to put together as I was on my own but I managed it. I just love it and have used it every day since I put it up, even in the rain. ”

While this Amazon sale lasts, you can pick up this convertible 3-seater swing seat for the reduced price of £102. 99, nearly £60 less than its full price.

Eight teams, six points, four spots – the URC’s play-off race

Inpho
  • Comments

At the top of the United Rugby Championship, Leinster are firmly established in a class of one.

Behind them, Glasgow Warriors, Bulls and Sharks are all but secured in the top four.

However, for the remaining four play-off places, eight teams are separated by just six points.

Not only does a top-eight place secure a spot in the URC play-offs, but also a likely Champions Cup spot for next season.

How things stand

United Rugby Championship tableInpho

As illustrated above, there is barely anything to split the sides from fifth to 12th in the URC table before the final three rounds of fixtures.

With just six points between the sides, there will be plenty of chopping and changing before the top eight is decided.

Italian side Benetton, Welsh challengers Cardiff, South African outfit Stormers and Irish province Munster currently occupy the final four play-off spots.

However, Scarlets are just two points off eighth place, swiftly followed by Ulster and Edinburgh.

Connacht are also in contention in 12th, but five points off knockout rugby.

While a top-eight finish guarantees knockout rugby in the URC, it does not necessarily secure one of the league’s eight Champions Cup spots for next season.

If a team wins the Champions Cup or Challenge Cup and finishes outside the top eight in the league, they will take one of the URC’s spots.

This currently only applies to Edinburgh, who are outside the top eight but are in the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup.

Big matches ahead

Remaining United Rugby Championship fixturesGetty Images

The intrigue in the URC is further enhanced by the remaining fixtures, with all but one team having to face one of their play-off rivals at least one of their final matches.

The exception is Scarlets, who face leaders Leinster, strugglers Lions and the Sharks, who have all but booked their place in the knockout stags.

On paper, it’s actually 12th-placed side Connacht who have the easiest run-in. They travel to the Lions and Zebre, and host Edinburgh in the middle of that run where the Scottish side will also have to juggle a European semi-final.

Could the Irish province, currently without a permanent head coach, make a late run for the play-offs?

Munster and Ulster are the other Irish sides in contention, and they face each other in the penultimate round of fixtures in Limerick.

It has been a mixed campaign for Ulster but, despite a recent resurgence in form, they will need to beat the Sharks, pick up a positive result in Munster and then take on Edinburgh on the final day in what could be a shootout for the knockout stages.

Munster's Peter O'MahonyInpho

Despite the well-documented struggles of Welsh rugby recently, Cardiff have worked their way into a strong position to make the play-offs but have a tricky final three fixtures at home to Munster followed by a South African double-header with the Bulls and Stormers.

Cardiff are one place below 2021 Pro14 champions Benetton, who finish up with trips to the Stormers and Munster either side of a home match with Glasgow.

While it is tight between the sides, the three-point buffer Benetton and Cardiff hold to the cut line could be crucial.

As previously mentioned, Edinburgh are in a unique position as they have two routes to Champions Cup rugby available for next season.

If they cannot qualify by winning the Challenge Cup, then they can book their place by sneaking into the top eight.

Games away to Zebre and Connacht are certainly winnable and, as we’ve mentioned, that final game at home to Ulster could be crucial.

Should points difference come into play, both the Scarlets and Edinburgh are better off than the sides immediately ahead of them.

Last, but by no means least, the Stormers are in a strong position heading into the final three fixtures as they round out the season with three home fixtures against Benetton, bottom side Dragons and Cardiff.

David Beckham’s intimate 50th birthday plans revealed amid tense family feud

David Beckham is planning his 50th birthday amid a family feud among his sons that is threatening their previously tight family bond, with eldest Brooklyn Beckham snubbing mum Victoria Beckham’s birthday on Thursday

David Beckham’s 50th birthday plans with his family are being finalised amid a feud among his sons which is threatening their previously tight family bond. The former England and Manchester United star will turn 50 on May 2 and the footballer is planning a series of events and an ‘intimate’ birthday party during a month of celebrations.

Becks has already kicked-off proceedings with a star-studded bash in Miami at the end of March, which was packed with celebrity guests including Lionel Messi, Jack Whitehall and Victoria Beckham’s fellow Spice Girl, Mel B.

This warm-up to the main event of David’s birthday was held at exclusive Italian restaurant Cipriani and is a precursor to more intimate celebrations in Europe with more friends and family.

A source told The Sun about David’s plans: “What he actually really loves, and wants more than anything, is some quiet time with Victoria and their kids away from it all – that’s the thing he’s looking forward to most. “

Article continues below

It is believed that David’s 50th plans will follow in the footsteps of Victoria’s 50th last year, during which she enjoyed a party at London’s exclusive private members’ club Oswold’s before the family jetted to the south of France. The source continued to say that plans for David’s celebrations are being kept as a “surprise” from him.

The source added: “It will be very isolated, well away from the big showbiz places they might usually be seen at – just them and the kids miles away from it all having some great food and drink together. They’re the private moments he really cherishes – they’re hard to find when you’re as recognisable as a family as they are. ‘

While David is hoping for a family celebration, it is looking increasingly unlikely that the fall out between siblings Brooklyn and Romeo will remain unresolved, leaving many to assume the eldest son of David and Victoria, will be absent from the celebration.

The rift is believed to be centred around Romeo’s girlfriend Kim Turnbull, who reportedly dated Brooklyn nearly nine years ago. According to media outlets across the pond, Brooklyn and Nicola allegedly believe Kim does not have the right intentions when it comes to dating Romeo. However, Victoria is said to adore Kim and Cruz’s girlfriend Jackie Apostel.

And this is why the couple who tied the knot in lavish ceremony in 2022, have been noticeably absent from family gatherings and David’s landmark birthday may be another family occasion to add to the list.

Adding insult to injury, neither Brooklyn or Nicola publicly wished Victoria a happy 51st birthday last Thursday, which is highly unusual when compared to previous years.

Instead, only Romeo and Cruz took to social media to wish their mum a happy day. According to those close to the family, David is said to be left upset over the strained relationship among his sons.

They added: “Family is everything to him. He is a working class boy who grew up with strong connections to his grandparents and parents, and he loves nothing more than to see his boys, and Harper, being so close. While the location will be perfect and stunning, what he wants most is for his family to be around him, happily getting along.

Celeb couples who sleep in separate beds – as Vicky Pattison says ‘We do’

Vicky Pattison has revealed that she and husband of six months Ercan Ramadan are sleeping in separate beds, and it turns out many celebrity couples actually split up at bedtime.

Reality star-turned-radio host Vicky Pattison jokingly revealed recently that she and husband, Ercan Ramadan, really need to start sleeping in the same bed (she sleeps with their two dogs ).

It might have sounded unusual, particularly just six months into their marriage, but happy couples sleeping in separate beds isn’t as uncommon as you might think.

Relationship expert Tina Wingman, founder of the Wingman app, maintains, “When couples decide to sleep in separate beds, often called a ‘sleep divorce’, it can sometimes lead to judgment from others.

Many think that couples need to always sleep together to stay close, so when they hear separate beds, they assume there’s trouble. But it’s not always about a lack of love.

“For some, sleeping apart makes sense – maybe one person snores, has different sleep habits, or needs more space to get a good night’s rest.

While sometimes separate beds can be a sign of trouble, others find it actually helps them feel more rested and less stressed, which can improve their relationship overall. ”

Here, we take a look at the stars whose decision to sleep in separate beds has made the ‘snooze’ headlines recently.

The Beckhams

The King and Queen of the Beckham brood, Victoria and David, are thought to occasionally sleep in separate beds on some night s, with designated “his” and “her” wings in their country bolthole in the Cotswolds.

Though neither of them have ever addressed the rumours directly, it wouldn’t be a huge leap to imagine – they installed separate living quarters in their primary London home, where there was a separate wing where son Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz stayed when they were dating.

Katherine Ryan

Comedian Katherine Ryan opened up last year about sleeping apart from husband Bobby Kootstra.

The Canadian funnywoman revealed she co-sleeps with their daughter Fenna, while Bobby sleeps in another room with son Fred: “I’ve had a lot of experts say: ‘You have to sleep with your husband. It’s really good for your relationship and your intimacy. ’

But I don’t think there’s anything anyone can say that will convince me that I should leave an infant alone in a room… I’d like to share a bed with Bobby, but there’s time for that. ”

Reality star Ferne McCann confessed last September that she and fiancé of two years Lorri Haines sleep in separate bedrooms, having previously admitted they’d turned to an intimacy coach.

The former TOWIE star, 34, who shares daughter Finty, 18 months, and Sunday, 7, from Ferne’s previous relationship. Explaining that Lorri reacted badly to sleep deprivation after Finty’s birth she said, ’At first, it was more just to have our own space to get some really good quality sleep.

But, it’s all the rage now, babes! It just works for us. Now, we get excited on holidays and special occasions when we do share a bed. ’

The co-host of iconic 2000s show What Not To Wear, revealed hilariously in 2023 that she’d had a ‘sleep divorce’, admitting, ‘It’s all my fault! ’

Thousands gather for centuries-old Holy Fire ceremony in Jerusalem

Thousands of Christians gathered in the cavernous Church of the Holy Sepulchre for a centuries-old Holy Fire ceremony.

Holding unlit candles, they packed into the sprawling 12th-century basilica built on the site where, according to tradition, Jesus was crucified and buried.

In near-total darkness, the Greek patriarch entered the Holy Edicule and emerged with two lit candles. The flame was passed from one candle to the next, the light overcoming the darkness in the rotunda. The flame was later transferred to Orthodox communities in other countries on special flights.

Eastern Orthodox Christians believe the light miraculously appears inside the Holy Edicule, built on the traditional site of Jesus’s tomb, while sceptics going back to the Middle Ages have dismissed it as a carnival trick for the masses.

Either way, the ceremony, which goes back at least 1,200 years, is a sight to behold. It has also ignited safety concerns.

In 1834, a frenzied stampede broke out in the darkened church, and the ruler of the Holy Land at the time barely escaped after his guards drew swords and hacked their way through the crowd, historian Simon Sebag Montefiore recounts in his history of Jerusalem. Some 400 pilgrims died in the melee, most from suffocation or trampling.

Israeli authorities have sought to limit participants in recent years, citing safety concerns. That has drawn protests from church leaders, who have accused them of upsetting the delicate, unwritten arrangements around Jerusalem’s holy sites known as the status quo.

On Saturday, there was a heavy military presence as thousands of worshippers passed through Israeli checkpoints to enter.

Some worshippers lamented that the turnout lacked numbers this year because of Israel’s 18-month war on Gaza. “The number of police is higher than the number of pilgrims,” said Adeeb Joude, key holder for the Holy Sepulchre.

Israel captured East Jerusalem, including the Old City with major sites sacred to Jews, Christians and Muslims, in the 1967 Middle East War, and annexed it in a move not recognised internationally. The Palestinians want East Jerusalem to be the capital of their future state.

The Old City has a long history of tensions between Israelis and Palestinians, among different religious groups that share its hilly confines and even within certain faiths. Perceived infringements on the status quo in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre have led to brawls between monks of different denominations.

Israel says it is committed to ensuring freedom of worship for Jews, Christians and Muslims, and has long presented itself as an island of tolerance in the Middle East.

In recent years, however, tensions have risen with the local Christian community, most of whom are Palestinian Christians, a population that has dwindled through decades of conflict as many have moved abroad.
