The Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, has condemned the assault of a corps member, Jennifer Elobor, by security operatives but said those involved have been arrested.  ,
A video that went viral saw the operatives armed with guns storm the corps members ‘ home in the Oba community of Anambra State. The members of the Operation Udo Ga-Achi, also known as the Agunechemba Vigilante Group, were seen beating the female corps member, tearing her clothes, despite presenting her identification card.
The security operatives accused Elobor and her colleagues of fraud.
Reacting to the incident, Emeakayi said it was unacceptable and wrong.
“It was not part of their duty. That was why I said that the act, and in the process of carrying out their legitimate duties, and what they did next was unacceptable and wrong. It was not part of their duty to beat up anybody or to strip anybody, which was why we arrested them”, he said on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief.
“Immediately that incident happened, we got the report, and the best step we took was to arrest the operatives involved in that act, then detained them. They were with us”, he said.
He said investigations are ongoing over the incident, which has sparked outrage among Nigerians.

“According to our practices, when an incident involves our operatives, we arrest them, carry out our preliminary investigations, then get the complainants, or the victims involved and our operatives, to determine the level of what action to take and whether it is something we can handle by internal disciplinary measures or something we would have to prosecute”, Soludo’s aide told the morning show crew.
“So, in that case, we arrested our people and invited them and the victims to hear them out. At the end, our views were that our men who went on a legitimate and legal assignment, the acts and actions they carried out there were unacceptable”.
Emeakayi said that the operatives involved have been suspended, and their final evaluation is in process.
“They are suspended because when a case has been established against someone, you arrest the person, then hand him over to the police”, he said.
