Arteta ‘Proud’ Of Lewis-Skelly’s England Call-Up

After being named in Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad on Friday, Mike Arteta said he was proud of Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Lewis-Skelly has experienced a rapid rise since joining Arsenal earlier this year and achieving a dazzling Premier League position.

The 18-year-old has already established himself as a key member of Arteta’s lineup despite only making his Gunners debut in September.

The Islington, near the Emirates Stadium, home of the Arsenal academy graduate, has been a member since he was nine years old.

Lewis-Skelly’s rapid emergence in the England squad earned a commendable review from his manager.

Arteta’s team hosts Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday, and he is “very proud of him.” It’s a significant moment for both him and the club,” he said.

It’s a huge thing to see one of our graduates being called to England.

“Thomas is a top coach, I know a few people around him, and I have no doubt that they will treat Myles well.”

Tuchel was taken aback when Lewis-Skelly’s first Arsenal goal, a brilliant solo effort in the 5-1 victory over Manchester City, was his debut.

The youngster is one of four uncapped players in Tuchel’s squad and currently plays left-back for Arsenal.

It’s a story that gives young players a lot of hope, Arteta said. Your career may change dramatically for the better in six or seven months. It serves as a source of inspiration for people.

On March 21, England travel to Wembley to play another home game against Latvia, which will take place three days later.

After Tuchel claimed on Friday that the 27-year-old had made himself available for selection after an imposed absence of more than two years, Arteta said he anticipated Ben White’s return to the England squad gradually.

The defender, who had knee surgery and wasn’t included in the England squad until Friday, hasn’t played for Arsenal since November.

According to Arteta, “I’ve heard there have been positive conversations around it, so I suppose it will be more about timing than anything,” she said.
