The recently concluded Niger State Local Government Council elections were won by the All Progressives Congress (APC) by all 25 chairmanship seats in the state.
The polls were “credible, transparent, and reflective of the people’s will,” according to the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC).
All Returning Officers were required to complete the operations and collation in accordance with the Electoral Law and the Commission’s operational guidelines, according to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Operations, Mohammed Liman, NSIEC.
The Commission approved and ratified the results after thorough investigation, confirming the duly elected chairmen and councillors who adhered to all legal standards, according to Liman.
APC candidates won in Agaie, Bida, Kontagora, Lapai, Bosso, Chanchaga, Wushishi, and other local government areas, according to the list.

Sayuti Ibrahim Halilu (Agaie), Usman Mohammed (Bida), Mustapha Jibrin (Chanchaga), Lawal Yusuf (Kontagora), and Mohammed Lokogoma (Wushishi) are just a few of the newly elected chairmen.
The results revealed significant differences between the ruling party’s and its closest allies across various local governments. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 6, 039 votes in Bosso, compared to the APC, which received 29, 140.
Similar patterns were seen in Gbako (32, 310 vs 7, 363 PDP), Suleja (61, 877 vs 1, 146 SDP), and Lapai (43, 604 vs 2, 639 SDP and 1, 429 PDP).
PDP, SDP, and the Labour Party were all statistically ahead of them with 10, 216, 1, 137, and 313 votes, respectively, in Bida and Chanchaga, while APC received 40, 868 votes, compared to PDP’s 8, 386, and the party received 25, 340 in Chanchaga.

Across the northern part of the state, APC maintained commanding leads in Kontagora (25, 154 vs 7, 164 PDP), Borgu (44, 248 vs 3, 172 PDP), and Mariga (25, 485 vs 6, 662 PDP). Other results include Lavun (53, 257 vs 1, 340 PDP), Mokwa (27, 100 vs 11, 210 PDP), and Edati (20, 414 vs 8, 553 PDP).
The results endorsed by the 274 ward Returning Officers were for the councillorship seats.
In Tafa and Rafi Local Government Areas, the PDP won two seats, one each, while the APC won 271 councillor seats.
In carrying out their duties, Liman congratulated all elected officials and urged them to continue to be transparent, accountable, and service-driven.

He also appreciated the efforts of voters, security forces, political parties, observers, the media, IPAC, ALGON, and other parties for ensuring the success of the elections.
