The female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who was sexually assaulted and stripped naked by local security guards in Anambra State has pleaded for their perpetrators to be brought to justice.
According to Onu, who made the request during an interview with The Morning Brief on Channels Television, the security personnel should be brought to court and be compensated for the harm caused.
We have written petitions to the Anambra government, the Federation’s attorney general, and the Anambra government to demand that these individuals be charged and ordered to pay compensatory damages. It is permitted by the law, and we provided a timeline.
After that, we’ll take all the necessary steps, both civil and criminal, to make sure that these individuals are charged and compensated by the security organization and the governor of Anambra State, who will be the executive governor.

The attorney argued that “we are demanding compensatory damages for these people, not just criminal prosecutions.”
According to him, forcing the perpetrators to pay the victim’s damages is the only way to make them feel the consequences of their actions.
We want them to do that, they say. When the government realizes that misbehavior and disobeying their authority will result in a lot of money, the lawyer added, “perhaps everyone will just check themselves” once they begin to pay,” the lawyer added.
Onu also confirmed that plans are being made and that work is being done to arrest those security personnel and bring justice to the victim of the NYSC.
He said, “We will reach out to them as of yesterday [Tuesday], and we will of course do so, and we will be in Anambra this week, and we will follow up on this matter to make sure that they do this prosecution.”
