Amy Dowden still doesn’t know about Strictly return as she admits ‘it wasn’t the same’

Dancer Amy Dowden overcame significant setbacks and made a comeback to Strictly Come Dancing last year, but she’s not sure if she’ll ever make it back.

Following her diagnosis with breast cancer, the professional dancer had to leave the BBC dance competition. She made a fantastic comeback to the program last September when she teamed up with JB Gill, a JLS star. Fans were just as excited for Amy’s return as she was for her comeback.

However, her series was heartbreakingly cut short when she suffered a foot injury. Amy had to step away from the show once more as a replacement for her, leaving her with JB in the finale. Amy was able to return to Strictly and participate in the UK tour just a few months later.

Amy is waiting for show managers to call to confirm her spot on the 2025 show, just like all other professional dancers. Carlos Gu, her co-star on Strictly, and she is currently accompanied on their Reborn tour together in the interim. When asked if the pair will be returning to the show, Amy told the Mirror: “We are waiting to find out, fingers crossed. We would like to, but we are holding off until the springtime decision is made.

Amy admitted that admitting to putting too much pressure on herself made her comeback not quite what she had hoped it would. The dancer, who was awarded an MBE this week for her services to Chron’s disease, told us: “Last year, it was a lot of emotions, excitement but I think also pressure I had put on myself.

If she participated in the 2025 series, I believe I would be able to truly go into and enjoy it this year, and I believe that’s what I’m looking forward to the most. I once again feel like Amy in a way that is truly authentic. Last year, I wasn’t confident in myself really deep down. I think I was still trying to accept everything. I didn’t look the same, with my hair growing back. You could tell a difference between me and others.

Amy confessed to Dianne Buswell and fellow professional Dianne Buswell during a conversation at the start of the year about a dancer’s performance. Dianne said at the tour rehearsals ‘ we have got Amy back’, “she explained”. She could see I wasn’t like that during the series. If I am back]on Strictly] this year, I would just embrace and enjoy every second. “

In a few weeks, she and her best friend Carlos will return to the dancefloor for their tour. Carlos explained:” Reborn is based out both of our stories. The story that we have is quite inspiring.
