Melanie Blatt, the singer who opened up about her time spent with All Saints, revealed that Nicole Appleton and her bandmate Nicole were instructed to have an abortion to “ruined everything.”
All Saints star Melanie Blatt has recalled her music bosses shocking reaction to finding out she was pregnant during her time in the band. The singer, 50, has candidly opened up on her time in the music industry and laid bare the realities of fame in the 90s.

It wasn’t people congratulating us, Melanie said while speaking on the program. “I hadn’t been with my partner for a very long, it was definitely a surprise. More accurately translated was the feeling of dread, worry, and realization that things will change.

In the clip seen by the Sun, Melanie said her bosses told her and Nicole they were “going to ruin everything” and “it was the end of the band”.
Melanie did have her baby with her then partner, Stuart Zender, the bassist for band Jamiroquai. Nicole, who was pregnant with then boyfriend Robbie Williams, did not have her baby.
Melanie and Nicole have been best friends since they were 11 years old, but Melanie acknowledged that the relationship in the documentary strained. She claimed that they discussed having children and discussing having children together.
The singer continued, “And it’s not really my place to talk about it, but sadly, I kept mine, and she didn’t.” Melaniei described it as a “truly complex” aspect of their relationship.
Melanie, Nicole, and Natalie, as well as Shaznay Lewis, made up All Saints. After releasing two albums, the band split in 2001, and Melanie later admitted to “hating each other.”
The new BBC documentary features members of Atomic Kitten, Eternal, Sugababes, Mis-teeq and Little Mix. Singer Kéllé Bryan claimed that people voiced concerns about her weight during Eternal’s heyday.
She told the Mirror, “People were always worrying about my weight and how much we weighed as band.” We’re talking about a time when size zero was common, she continued, “Stylists would come along and say “this doesn’t fit you.”
They drove us away to a rural area where they had complete control over our food. You might think that was crazy when you think back, but that’s what they did.
When Kéllé and her pal Louise (Nurding) Redknapp signed their first record deal, Kéllé was just 15 years old. They were paired with sisters Easther and Vernie Bennett shortly after Louise and Kéllé became official Eternal members.
The documentary, which was produced by seasoned broadcaster Louis Theroux, follows Boybands Forever’s success. The likes of Clara Amfo, Lucie Cave, MNEK, Pete Tong, Nicki Chapman, Scott Mills, and Tulisa will also be featured in interviews with girl bands over the course of the 1990s and beyond.
