Skin cancer has been identified in Adrian Chiles, according to the doctor. A suspicious patch of skin on the TV presenter’s shoulder was removed after an operation, which later turned out to be cancerous.
In his most recent Guardian column, Adrian, 58, explained how he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma but reassured readers that it is thankfully “no serious” and that he had been treated for it.
After spotting a change on his shoulder, the presenter claimed to have scheduled an appointment with a dermatologist. The former One Show host admitted to being concerned while awaiting the results after removing the patch to check if it was cancerous.
“I can tell there is carcinoma somewhere,” said Adrian. He said I would have to go back and have it removed, and then they would determine whether or not it was carcinoma. Great . Whenever ? He promised to write to you. I suggested that a little hurry-up might be required if cancer was a possibility. which he responded, “Oh, it won’t matter now.” If you had arrived sooner, it would have changed everything. This phrase seemed to me to have some sort of argument against itself. Time either had a limit or was not. I even tinkered about interpreting “won’t matter now,” as if that were his way of saying I was doomed anyway.
A patient-focused app “Powered by Patients Know Best” later informed him that he wouldn’t receive his results until December 18.
By now, Adrian had wished to flush my phone down the toilet. This nonsense pretends to be communication, but it’s actually two-way.
Later, thankfully, better news arrived as he was able to contact someone who assured him that the situation was not life-threatening after experiencing stress from the NHS phoneline and app.
It was a squamous cell carcinoma, Chiles wrote. All gone, no longer spreading. Not nothing, but not serious, that is. requires constant monitoring. I don’t care because I now have the email address for this skin cancer nurse. As good as any treatment or cure feels from the touch of a human being.
He continued, “I can forgive bad hospitals, confusion over appointments, even doctors’ poor bedside manner, but all the apps in the world can’t replace a real person.”
Up until 2010, Chiles co-hosted the One Show and co-hosted the Match of the Day 2 breakfast show with Christine Lampard. He also co-hosted the show with Christine Lampard. He left when ITV abruptly terminated his contract in 2015.
After being fired from the ITV breakfast program Daybreak in 2011, he also acknowledged that he had battled alcohol and anxiety.
The presenter said in an interview with The Guardian: “I’ve always been quite cautious with money, but the ups and downs have been stressful over the years. He has appeared on Radio Five Live and the BBC on screen more recently.
Adrian previously co-hosted Have I Got News for You, a satirical news quiz on BBC One. He first presented The Apprentice: Your Fired, The Money Programme, Panorama, various documentaries, and Working Lunch and The Money Programme in his early career. In 2021, he also made an appearance on a Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special.
