As Adam Peaty’s wedding preparations ramp up without his mum Caroline, she has still made sure to buy a gift and card for her son and future daughter-in-law, and holds out hope they’ll invite her after all

Although heartbroken mum Caroline Peaty reportedly won’t be in attendance at son Adam Peaty’s wedding, it appears she hasn’t given up hope of reconciliation, and she’s even bought the couple a gift to mark their big day.

On December 27, Olympic swimmer Adam will say ‘I do’ to fiancée Holly Ramsay, the daughter of chef Gordon Ramsay, in a grand festive ceremony held at the historic Bath Abbey. Guests will then toast the newlyweds during a reception held at Kin House, an elegant Georgian estate nestled in the Wiltshire countryside.

Sadly, Caroline, 59, won’t be there to raise a glass to Adam and Holly, amid an ongoing rift that has reportedly seen her banned from the big day altogether. Despite all the upset, Caroline is still keen to pass on her best wishes to her son and future daughter-in-law, and has even selected a gift from the registry.

Speaking with the Mail Online, former nursery manager Caroline revealed: “It’s a decent present.” The grandmother, who lives in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, also intends to send a card, but says, “I don’t know if they will even open it.”

It appears Caroline also hasn’t given up hope that, with six weeks to go before the Christmastime nuptials, Adam, 30, will have a change of heart. The mum, who has dedicated herself to supporting gold medallist Adam’s career, shared: “If he changed his mind, I would go. I want to go to Bath, to go into the abbey, to watch him get married. I love him, he’s still my little boy.”

Caroline, 59, was initially delighted to learn about the engagement in September 2024, but things have since become complicated. Fans of Adam began to realise something was wrong after Caroline wasn’t in attendance at Holly’s plush Soho Farmhouse hen do.

Caroline’s sister, Louise Williams, then hit out at 25-year-old Holly in a social media post, writing: “You have inflicted a hurt on my sister that will take a very long time to heal if ever.” Matters have continued to escalate, and it’s now believed Adam’s sister Bethany will be the only family member from his side to watch him tie the knot.

Away from Caroline’s apparent ban from the big day, other members of Adam’s family have reportedly been unable to afford the price of accommodation and travel. One relative told told The Sun: “We were sent a ‘save the date,’ and it’s all these country houses. I’m on Universal Credit — I can’t afford that.” Meanwhile, relatives have claimed that Adam is “ashamed” of his working class roots, and “has been changed by money, fame and fortune”. One family source said: “He seems to have forgotten where he came from.”

Adam’s aunt Louise has now claimed that her sister learned she’d been dropped from the invite list while busily returning five-year-old grandson George back to the care of his mother, Eirianedd Munro, and was forced to mask the deep “hurt and betrayal” she felt in front of her young grandchild.
