Dani Behr was one of Britain’s most recognizable faces on television at the time of the 1990s. She co-hosted cult classics like The Word, The Big Breakfast, and Hotel Babylon with a smoky voice, unmistakable charisma, and a glamorous appeal that earned her countless men’s magazine covers.
She lives a world away from studios and red carpets, but her fame was sown during a glittery era of music, pop culture, and television. Dani, a mother of two and a successful luxury real estate agent in Bel Air, is now 54 and based in Los Angeles.
Dani attended the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School, where she was born in Mill Hill, London, to Jewish parents from South Africa. Later, her father, a London estate agent, would inspire the career she has today, but music was the first thing to come. Tom Watkins, the manager of Pet Shop Boys, recruited her to the all-girl pop trio Faith Hope & Charity. Dani switched to TV after being signed to WEA, but the act didn’t take off.
Her breakout performance on Channel 4’s The Word, which she described on IMDb as “the show that pushed the boundaries of youth TV,” occurred in 1992. “Sometimes funny, other times just sick.” From there, she appeared on shows like Ice Warriors, The Big Breakfast, and The Saturday Show on the BBC, which she co-hosted in 2001 with Joe Mace.
She also had acting and voice roles in Like It Is and Rancid Aluminium, including voicing the on-board computer in Privateer 2: The Darkening.
However, her early persona’s edginess occasionally skewed with popular expectations. After a racy Maxim interview where she made jokes about having “really seedy, but great” sex in a car park and said her voice was ideal for phone sex, she was fired from The Saturday Show in 2002.

The comments were deemed inappropriate by BBC executives for a children’s presenter. Dani‘s career didn’t completely stall despite the conflict. Soon after moving to the US, she began working for EXTRA as a correspondent and eventually hosted numerous NBC, Fox, VH1, and Bravo programs, including the groundbreaking gay dating program Boy Meets Boy in 2003.
Dani and Carl Harwin got married in 2005 while they were living in Los Angeles. Coco and Zane, their two children, were born, and they spent several years moving from Los Angeles to Costa Rica to Sydney, Australia. However, they had already split up in 2014.
She told HELLO, “We’d been growing apart for some time. magazine . “We moved to Costa Rica and Australia, and Carl frequently arrived home at 11 p.m. and left before the kids and I awoke the following morning because of his crazy schedule.” It was very lonely. From the beginning, I was like a single parent.

She found herself in debt and with fewer opportunities for employment in television after the divorce. In a 2020 episode of the podcast White Wine Question Time, she declared, “TV here (in America) had completely changed.”
“There is no longer really a TV market for me.” I didn’t fit into any of those roles because you were either a late-night comedian or a sports journalist. Dani returned to her traditional profession, real estate, with ease. What else do I possess? She claimed that she didn’t attend college. So I thought, “OK, I’ll just get my license,” and I was like, “I know real estate.”
She completed her real estate exams in 2015, and Dani now runs her own agency, which specializes in high-end properties in Los Angeles, including multimillion-dollar homes.
“I once socialized with the most well-known people in the world, dating athletes, and socializing with the hottest bands. I’m selling houses to them right now. She told The Mirror in 2024, “It’s funny how things work out.
She’s made it clear that showbiz is not a secure alternative to real estate. She responded to White Wine Question Time, “I’ve jumped into the fire and flipped out of the frying pan.” Some years, you do well, while others, you say, “What will I do?” It’s brutal”.
The potential rewards are high, despite the statement, “If you do big here, you do big because the commissions are higher (than in the UK)”.
Behr resides in the prestigious Bel-Air neighborhood, where celebrities like Kim Kardashian also reside. Her Instagram account combines property glitz and personal photos, with posts about beach getaways and Aspen ski trips and nights out with her partner, a “mystery man,” for more than two years. She records their travels, frequently using private jets, in Vegas, New York, and while watching whales off the coast.
She is also deeply committed to being a mother. Her teenage son Zane and daughter Coco, both now 19, occasionally appear on her Instagram accounts.
Behr hasn’t completely abandoned the media industry, despite having largely turned her back on the industry. She launched a podcast called The Behr Essentials in 2020, which ran for six episodes throughout the year, and it was later picked up again in 2023, where she explored success stories from LA’s entertainment and cultural sectors. “Learn from industry professionals about real success stories in LA,” she wrote.
She’s also appeared on British television as a guest. She made her first appearance on ITV’s Lorraine in July of that year, where she delivered Hollywood gossip live from Los Angeles. She expressed her joy on Instagram by expressing her gratitude to @itv @lorraine for welcoming me back into the studio. Resuming that oh-so-famous chair is a lot of fun.

And most recently, she used her platform to support relief efforts by sharing fundraisers for the affected families and urging support for relief efforts when wildfires hit Los Angeles in 2025.
Dani has reflected on her life of adapting, from her days as a host of music shows to her current position as a mother and real estate powerhouse. “I never really wanted anything,” he said.
“My father is delighted,” my father said. He claims that I finally have a legitimate job and that he is relieved. He is no longer required to worry about what he will read about me.
