The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has arrested one Phil-Olumba Ifunaya Sheila for allegedly failing to report the amounts of $14, 567, £1030, and $40, according to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)’s (EFCC) Zonal Directorate 2 in Lagos, located just outside of Lagos.
Dele Oyewale, the agency’s head of media and publicity, made this known in a statement.
Sheila was detained by NCS personnel on a routine check on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Ikeja, Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
The suspect claimed she had only $4, 000 on her when she was arrested and was scheduled to travel to the United Kingdom.  ,
In a related development, the Commission announced that it had begun an investigation into a parcel that contained 101 trillion Zimbabwean Dollars, or 426, 091, 066, 068, and 41, 640, 000 Vietnamese Dong, or 95%, 746.52, which were intercepted by NCS agents and NPS officers.

The Area Comptroller in charge of the NCS at the airport, E. J. Harrison, stated, “Today, we have two interceptions that we want to hand over to the EFCC. And they are entering the command from two distinct locations.  ,
The first one is from the NIPOST (Nigerian Postal Service), which is a subject we may not be familiar with but which we are responsible for. A package containing foreign currencies was intercepted by us.  ,
It was actually the vigilant and hard work of our officers and the NIPOST’s officials, who were looking at the package, that made it clear that someone was trying to import a lot of money into Nigeria.
However, we must make sure that this doesn’t occur. Therefore, we currently have a parcel that will be subject to government agency scrutiny. “ ,
A. A. Timta, a representative from the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the EFCC, assured the service that the EFCC would proceed with the investigation and prosecution of the suspect while they were receiving the suspect and the money in the intercepted parcel.

Why should your bird bath be regularly cleaned?
Algae and other organic matter can thrive in warm, still water in bird baths. The bird bath’s surface is then covered in a slippery green layer (biofilm), which can harbor harmful bacteria as well as looking unpleasant. The ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes is stagnant water. These insects have the ability to spread diseases that can affect both birds and people.
Additionally, the bird bath is filled with decaying leaves, bird droppings, and other debris that can introduce bacteria into the water. Salmonella and E. coli are frequent suspects, which can lead to severe illnesses in birds, including ruffled feathers, lethargy, and even death. Additionally, sharing contaminated water can quickly cause diseases in bird populations.
How is your bird bath cleaned?
It’s a relatively simple and easy process that can be done weekly or bi-weekly to ensure algae and bacteria build-up doesn’t occur. Start by tipping out all of the old water. Rinse out the bird bath with fresh water, then use a stiff-bristled brush to vigorously scrub all surfaces of the bird bath, paying close attention to the bottom and sides where algae and biofilm will tend to accumulate. You might not need a cleaning agent for every routine scrub, but a bit of elbow grease will go a long way. Give it another rinse and then fill with clean water.

For more serious cleaning successions, which are suggested once a month, use diluted bleach, white wine vinegar, and other cleaning products. You can soak the bath while you’re doing this, making sure all the bacteria are removed.

WBO has mandated that Joseph Parker, the undisputed heavyweight champion, begin negotiations with the undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
The Ukrainian, 38, stopped Daniel Dubois in the fifth-round at Wembley Stadium on July 19th, bringing the division together for the second time.
In March 2024, Parker defeated Zhilei Zhang to claim the WBO interim belt.
The WBO will order the purse bid proceeding after the parties have 30 days to come to terms.
Parker won the vacant belt from Anthony Joshua in the WBO fight between 2016 and 2018, defeating Andy Ruiz Jr.
Parker and Dubois were scheduled to compete in the IBF title in February, but due to illness, the Briton withdrew on two days’ notice. The New Zealander won the matchup against Martin Bakole in Riyadh, keeping him on the card and defending his interim title.
In the run-up to Usyk’s most recent success, Parker was a constant and vocal presence, and he watched from the ringside as the two-weight undisputed champion staged yet another masterclass in London.
After claiming his second victory over Dubois, Usyk stated that he wanted to rest for “two or three months,” but that Parker, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Derek Chisora were all potential opponents.

The 21-year-old took the early lead in Lottie Woad’s first professional round at Dundonald Links, where she won the Women’s Scottish Open.
After six birdies in 14 holes, including almost holing her tee shot at the short 11th hole, the former amateur world number one from Surrey had held onto her own.
However, Woad’s only bogey of the day came at the par-four 17th, where she was backed up alongside Rio Takeda from Japan, Rio Takeda from Spain, and Nuria Iturrioz from Ireland, who both shot five under-par 67.
“I will definitely take it, there were some positive aspects and some negative aspects,” Woad said.
“The wind made the last couple of holes challenging, and I was just playing for par.” Most of the day was pretty stress-free.
Woad, who won the Irish Open earlier this month, made the announcement last week that she would become a professional.
That came after Grace Kim’s finish was just one shot outside the play-off won by her in the women’s fourth major of the year, earning her £400,000 prize money.
