Seven WSL clubs join trial allowing alcohol in stands

A trial that will allow fans to consume alcohol in the stands during the 2025-26 season has been completed by seven Women’s Super League clubs.

The top four clubs from the previous season, which included Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United, are also participating.

Following an initial trial last term at four second-tier clubs that were renamed WSL2 this year that gave fans the option to drink alcohol while watching the game.

WSL Football, the league’s operator, reported that 66% of the 51, 000 participants in the trial were in favor of the idea.

The expansion was “part of our strategy to offer a best-in-class experience,” according to Holly Murdoch, WSL Football’s chief operating officer.

WSL Football claimed there were no reported safety incidents during the trial last year and that match officials noted there had been “no change in fan behavior” during the trial.

Alcohol consumption close to the pitch is permitted in the women’s professional game, but it is prohibited in the UK for men.

There is no justification for allowing this research to be applied to the men’s game, according to Tom Greatrex, president of the Football Supporters’ Association.

Sharon Osbourne’s fertility battle – IVF ‘torture’, six pregnancies and sad phone call

In an effort to grow their family, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne were wed for more than 40 years. Unfortunately, this was unsuccessful, and Sharon later described her agony.

Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne died this week at the age of 76, leaving behind his beloved widow Sharon.

The couple were married for 43 years and endured many ups and downs along the way. Ozzy had been married once before when he met Sharon, 72, and had three children with his first wife Thelma Riley before he met his “soul mate”.

“Sharon is like my soulmate — sometimes I love her, sometimes I don’t love her, sometimes I’m angry with her, sometimes I’m crazy about her, sometimes I’m very jealous of her, sometimes I wanna f**king kill her,” the late star said last year.

Ozzy once tried to strangle his wife and had at least one long-term affair, despite the couple’s undoubtedly smitten relationship being featured in smash-hit early 2000s MTV reality show The Osbournes.

Sharon, 72, remained loyal and is said to be devastated and “fragile” following her husband’s passing, with paramedics trying to resuscitate the star for hours before he was announced dead at the couple’s home. The rocker was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019 and had numerous other health issues, with a source telling The Mirror he was on “borrowed time”.

The Osbourne family revealed the rocker’s death on Tuesday morning in a statement released this week. Our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning, according to them, with more sadness than words can express. He was surrounded by love and his family. At this time, we ask that everyone respects our family’s privacy.

Sharon-Aimee, 41, Kelly, 40, and Jack, 39, are the parents of Ozzy and Aimee. Sharon discussed how challenging it is to work as her husband’s manager with raising their young family in an interview with Metal Hammer. She said, “I managed my husband and we had three kids.” I had three pregnancies, and I had three. We created a small family out of wood.

After Jack’s birth, the couple struggled to conceive because Sharon’s fallopian tubes were harmed by a stomach infection. She underwent “mental torture,” or IVF.

“Sadly it didn’t work,” she said in her autobiography Extreme. “I just couldn’t take that ride. The wait for results, for each phone call, was mental torture. It did me in and I couldn’t go through it again.”

Ozzy’s band Black Sabbath, which he formed with 56 years ago, played his final performance on July 6 in Birmingham. He closed the show by saying, “It’s the last song ever,” to 42, 000 fans. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to lead such a wonderful lifestyle.

The star was beloved by his fans and most of all by Sharon, of whom he said: “At the end of the day, I love her more than anything in the world. Put it this way: I couldn’t live without her. I don’t wanna live without her.”

Senate Committee Probes Poor Enforcement Of Local Content Laws

Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content, has urged all parties to fully abide by Nigeria’s Local Content laws, warning that defaulters will be subject to severe sanctions.

According to Thomas, who spoke with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, the Committee is currently reviewing numerous complaints from local businesses alleging poor compliance with Presidential Executive Order No. 10/2014’s Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGIC) Act. 5 of 2018 and the Nigeria First Policy (2025).

According to him, “all stakeholders are expected to ensure strict compliance with Local Content laws and regulations in accordance with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”

He claims that many of the petitions raised concern failures in Nigeria’s efforts to grow its economy and become self-sufficient in terms of contract awards, project execution, human capital development, and technology transfer.

The Committee is currently looking into underinvestment in workforce development, underemployment, and a general pattern of missed opportunities for domestic technological advancement, as well as the delayed progress being made in local capacity building for fabrication, marine operations, and engineering.

We’re concerned about Nigeria’s disadvantage as a result of the slow pace at which local content policies are implemented and enforced. These behaviors, according to Thomas, impair our ability to create jobs, establish competitive industries, and maintain value in the nation.

He claimed that all current content plans, compliance frameworks, and waivers are being thoroughly reviewed in progress. &nbsp,

Further, Thomas added that the committee would consult with relevant organizations and private companies to assess the effects of these errors and wouldn’t hesitate to impose penalties for errors or complicity.

Michelle Agyemang in England spotlight before UEFA Euro 2025 final

Michelle Agyemang, who had her hands covering her eyes when she fell to the ground, was overcome by the situation. The 19-year-old, whose surname appropriately describes the “savior of the nation,” rose when it was most needed in England.

After her 96th-minute equalizing goal against Italy lifted the Lionesses from the brink of defeat, a little-known teenage player who had just been released just weeks ago, her name still rings in the hearts of all England football fans.

Although Chloe Kelly’s extra-time winner earned her acclaim, Agyemang held her attention, displaying a composure that belied her age, in a brave act.

Agyemang scored a stunning double-nutmeg goal in Tuesday’s victory over Italy, which was her second goal in five days after coming off the bench to score a late equalizer in their quarterfinal victory over Sweden.

“Big Mich at it once more” Kelly told ITV Sport. She is “an incredible player with incredible skill and incredible talent.” A promising future for a young player. I’m utterly enthralled by her.

Agyemang, an English fan’s favorite, has sprang up in thousands of fans in the stands at Stade de Geneve and the Wembley Boxpark since Euro 2025, when everything seemed to be lost. The striker is a must-watch on television as she blazes forward with a combination of power, poise, and unselfish play while her black braids trail behind her blistering runs on the pitch.

Ellen White, England’s Euro 2022 champion, said, “She plays beyond her years.” With only a few minutes to go, she turned England’s history on its head and helped them reach yet another final.

Agyemang has given the Lionesses a new scoring dimension with three goals in four international appearances.

A star is born.

Agyemang, who is of Ghanaian descent, was chosen for England’s wild card squad and played a key role in the reigning champions’ advance to Sunday’s final against Spain in Basel.

Despite only playing one international game for the Lionesses and becoming the youngest member of the squad, she was given a call-up for the European Championships. It’s difficult to believe Agyemang only made her international debut three months ago as she watched her pass through the defense and finish the tournament with such poise at Euro 2025.

In one of Sarina Wiegman’s first games as national coach, she threw the football to some of England’s current superstars as a ball girl on the sidelines at the famous Wembley Stadium in London as late as 2021.

“Four years ago, I was a kid, playing with some of these girls, but now I’m here.” Agyemang expressed his gratitude for the great opportunity, and he is so happy he is here.

I’m so blessed to be here, and more than I could have hoped, to be doing this at this level and supporting this team.

Agyemang’s poise on the biggest stage was admirable but not unexpected.

The 1.69-meter (5ft-6.5in) forward made her international debut in April, volleying a stunning volley just 41 seconds after being substituted, giving Wiegman a first glimpse of her incredible talent.

Wiegman recalls that “I already said that she brings something special with the squad announcement.” She is only 19 when she matures a lot. She is completely aware of what she needs to do. She has a very promising future if she continues in this manner.

“Crazy season”

Agyemang, who was born in Essex to a family of Manchester United, Chelsea, and West Ham United supporters, has spent his entire life at Arsenal and has since joined the North London club’s academy.

Agyemang made her senior debut for the Gunners at the age of 16 before being loaned to second-tier Watford for the 2023-24 season. In 2022, Agyemang gained some first-team experience.

She signed with Brighton & Hove Albion on loan in the top-tier Women’s Super League (WSL) in September 2024 after scoring five goals in ten appearances for Watford, earning her first professional contract with Arsenal.

Agyemang was named the Women’s Young Player of the Season, a nod to the potential explosion, despite only having three goals and making as many starts.

Agyemang had no idea how excited she was to learn that Wiegman would soon be contacted by her parent club Arsenal, the second-largest female football competition on the planet, to discuss Euro 2025, which was held on May 24 in Lisbon.

Who was she the first to tell? Her father, who exuded pride and disbelief around the house.

“It’s been a crazy season for me to be on loan and then to be called in such a late season. However, Agyemang said, “Everything happens for a reason.”

“They have really taken me into and I’m so grateful,” I said, “but it’s easy to come here and not really be connected to a team because of the short amount of time.”

In England, Agyemang’s sensational 96th-minute equalizer against Italy in the Euro 2025 semifinal made her a household name.
