Snoop Dogg Becomes Co-Owner Of Championship Club Swansea

Swansea City and Championship side Swansea City have an unlikely partnership, according to the Welsh club.

Luka Modric, a former Real Madrid stalwart and World Cup winner, is the new owner of the club, joining the 53-year-old American.

Snoop Dogg made an unexpected appearance last week on the team’s social media channels, presenting their new home jersey for the 2025-26 season, and the team announced on Thursday that he has become an investor.

His involvement comes after Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen, two American businessmen, purchased the club in November.

Swansea will hope that Snoop Dogg, who is actually Calvin Broadus, can use his 100 million social media followers to raise the club’s profile as they attempt to reclaim the title for the first time since being relegated in 2018, will use his 100 million followers to do so.

According to the owners of Swansea, greater revenue would enable them to invest more in new players in accordance with British football’s profit and sustainability regulations.

The 53-year-old rapper stated on the club’s website: “My love of football is well known, but it feels special for me to make my move into club ownership with Swansea City.

I really enjoyed the club’s history and the surrounding area. A working-class city and club are proud to exist here. a dog that defends itself, similar to me.

“Swansea City is a great place to live.”

After leaving Real Madrid this week, Modric, who is 39 years old, joined AC Milan, and Swansea announced in April, had a stake in the club.

This announcement is Swansea City’s next episode, to borrow a phrase from Snoop’s back catalogue, as we look to expand the club’s reach and profile, according to Swansea’s owners, in a statement.

Snoop has made it clear to us throughout the entire process how excited he is about joining the club that “Snoop’s enormous global fanbase and audience will certainly help us do that.”

Snoop has openly expressed his desire to play football and has a passion for the sport, and we anticipate that he will help us form as much of a competitive team as possible.

Plateau Govt Faults Military Over Non-Arrest Of Killers Despite Close Contact

The Plateau State government has blamed the Nigerian Army soldiers for failing on Monday to detain the bodies of 27 farmers in the Tahoss community in Plateau State’s Riyom Local Government Area.

Despite making contact with them during the attack, the state government held the military responsible for failing to detain or neutralize any of the suspected killer herdsmen.

Joyce Ramnap, the state’s information commissioner, said on Friday’s The Morning Brief program that “the checkpoint is barely 200 meters from where this incident occurred.”

“No one was arrested or taken into custody,” the response we received. None of the victims’ injuries were caused by anything.

At a military checkpoint, Nigerian Army patrol vehicles can be seen.

The commissioner claimed that a neighborhood close to a military checkpoint-enhanced access road was the target of the vicious marauders’ attack.

The people were unable to access assistance because it was not a hidden community, she said, and we would say it was far.

“We don’t want to stereotype and claim that this case involved a complete compromise between the Army.”

However, there is room for improvement, and the governor specifically requested that at least they should be subject to some form of arrest.

The commissioner continued, “If you are that close and you engaged them closely, you should be able to say this is where they followed and what steps have been taken to arrest them, but no arrest has yet been made.”

Ramnap claimed that Plateau’s recent killings were vile and unprovoked.

She claimed that the assailants enter farms and raze all of their crops in addition to killing the people.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang and a herder are seen in a photo.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who traveled to the area on Wednesday, shared his views and called the ongoing killings of the people by bloodthirsty marauders a genocide.

She continued, “We have gallant soldiers in the country, we have them within Plateau State that are making their efforts to ensure there is peace on the Plateau, just like the governor has said.

“The attacks occurred on three distinct fronts within the community.” One side managed to contain them and prevent any further events. The side that was most likely to be hit by the people hiding out in the church was the one that was most likely, which is why we experienced that many casualties.

“At some point, the pastor of that church threatened to leave and wait for them to kill him as well.” Six people were killed right in his home when he left, and his wife followed him.

Scotland bounce back with seven-try win over Samoa

Samoa: (0) 12

Attempts: Umaga, Paia’aua, and Nee-Nee

Scotland: (22) 41

Scotland ended their summer tour on a high with a thumping seven-try victory over Samoa in Auckland after suffering a painful defeat by Fiji last weekend.

Gregor Townsend’s side were in command in the opening minutes thanks to Ewan Ashman, Rory Hutchinson, Arron Reed, and Kyle Steyn, before Grant Gilchrist, Kyle Rowe, and George Turner added more points in the second period.

At Eden Park, Ben Nee-Nee and Duncan Paia’aua, who had a strong showing, were able to recoup two goals for the hosts, but Scotland dominated in every way with a much more skilled and disciplined performance.

A loss to Samoa would have been incomprehensible, despite Scotland’s suffering from Fiji. Ashman’s early score, however, helped to lessen any anxiety.

After seven minutes, the Australia-bound hooker slammed onto a driving maul to give Scotland the lead, but in those early stages they had to withstand a ferocious Samoa attack.

The backline then jumped out of gear after they received the first blow. The Northampton man darted over for Scotland’s only crucial score of the first half after Stafford McDowall had already scored.

The impressive Jamie Dobie looped a long miss pass out to Reed to dot him down in the corner, making the next one much wider.

They finished their fourth five minutes later. Steyn cantering in unfettered while Dobie, Fergus Burke, and Rowe all performed flawless passes.

They did a similarly clinical first half. The battering ram of Gilchrist, who was pounding at the Samoan barricades, eventually broke through for only his second international score.

Any chance of outrighting the hosts was soon thwarted when George Horne, who had been bundled into position, threw a blind pass on his own five-meter. Samoan lock Nee-Nee was present to intercept, appreciative of the opportunity being given to him.

Scotland immediately responded. They left first, then right, and then back again after the scrum. Both Matt Fagerson and Andy Onyeama-Christie performed well, but it was Burke’s pop-up offload from the deck that allowed Rowe to lean into the corner and touch down.

Paia’aua, a center for Toulon, spun out of the hands of two Scotland tacklers to win one back for Samoa, but Turner received the seventh kick from a driving maul.

Samoa: Ah Kiong, Tuitama, Paia’aua, Taefu, Alosio, Umaga, Matavao, Seiuli, Sue, Alaalatoa, Nee-Nee, Slade, McFarland (capt), Mau’u, Seu.

Tolai, Siteine-Tua, Fepuleai, Curry, Jones, Mapu, Tupa’i, and Iona are the replacements.

Scotland: Rowe, Steyn, Hutchinson, McDowall, Reed, Burke, Dobie, Sutherland, Ashman, Millar Mills, Brown, Gilchrist, Onyeama-Christie, Darge (capt), M. Fagerson.

Turner, McBeth, Richardson, Henderson, Sykes, Muncaster, Horne, and Hastings are the replacements.

‘I was attacked at Oasis’ Heaton Park show over a beer – and missed the entire concert’

A man has recalled being assaulted while attending one of Oasis’ homecoming concerts at Heaton Park last week, resulting in him missing the entire show due to the ordeal

A man was assaulted after allegedly “spilling someone’s pint” at an Oasis gig at Heaton Park. Martin Brierley was forced to miss the whole show after spending £300 and later spent the night in A&E.

Emma Brierley, 32, attended the concert last Saturday night (July 12) with her husband, Martin, 50, and a mate. After entering the cordoned-off area, the couple queued for the loos and planned to grab a drink from the bar before settling in to enjoy the gig they’d been eagerly anticipating for months.

Shortly afterwards, Martin decided to head to the bar to fetch a round of drinks while Emma returned to their spot in the park ahead of the concert. It wasn’t until Liam and Noel Gallagher hit the stage and Emma noticed Martin hadn’t come back that she began to worry he might have lost his way – until she received a call from a security staff member asking her to make her way to the medical tent near one of the entrance gates.

“I tried ringing him a few times, but there was no signal at all,” Emma, who works for the Mirror’s sister title, the Manchester Evening News, said. “I thought he’d have just gotten lost somewhere in the park on the way back from the bar.

“Oasis were already playing now and I was saying to our friend how gutted Martin would be to have not made it back from the bar yet. We were just thinking he was struggling to find us at this point.

“We were on the top of the hill, quite far back from all the crowds. We weren’t bothered about how close we could get and didn’t want to get crushed because it was very busy.

“At 8.23pm I received a call from ‘Martin’, but it was actually a member of security staff using his phone and telling me to go to Gate 20. There was no mention of what had happened, so I told my friend to wait with my bag, still presuming he had just got lost on the way back.”

As Emma approached the gate, she spotted Martin on the ground, bleeding and hurt. She immediately recognised him from his trainers and “rushed to him” as he was surrounded by security officers.

“He was conscious when I got there, but looked a mess, and his shirt was soaked with blood,” she said. “They were telling me they were taking him to the [medical] tent for treatment.

“I asked a member of security to help me try and find our friend to come with us. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find our friend, so I headed back with security. When I returned, we then went through sealed fence and to a gazebo with police and paramedics.”

Martin’s recollection of what occurred is hazy. He recalled accidentally toppling over a group’s beers, which were placed on the ground, as he walked back from the bar whilst watching the large screens.

Recalling the incident, Martin explained: “I was bringing the drinks back from the bar, and there was a group with their drinks on the ground. I didn’t realise and obviously walked right through this bloke’s beers. I told him they shouldn’t have been on the floor because it’s a field.”

He continued: “I turned around to walk off, and I’ve got this flashback of a hand coming across my face. The next memory I have is of a member of security trying to pull me up by my right arm, and blood being everywhere. I am not sure if I passed out or not. Then the next thing I knew, I was in the medical tent.

“They definitely went for me more than once. I had injuries to my head, two black eyes and injuries to my jaw and lip.” The Oldham couple reported that they were only asked for basic details by police officers who arrived about 10 minutes post-assault. Martin was stretchered into the medical tent where his head wound was glued and bandaged to stem the bleeding.

Emma said that after roughly half an hour, they were informed they could go back to the concert, but they ‘just wanted to get out and get home’ after what happened. Describing their departure, Emma said: “I asked where we were going as we didn’t have a clue where we were and was told to head out of the tent and just keep walking and that the stage was on our right.”

“At this point, Martin had no shirt because of how blood-soaked it was, but we couldn’t find anywhere to purchase one or offered anything. I was concerned that we had just been let out with the injuries Martin had sustained, but at this point, we just wanted to get out of the concert, get home, and get Martin to A&E near us just to be checked out properly.

“After missing nearly all of Oasis because of what happened, the day had been ruined for us. I was feeling very anxious around everything and just wanted to get Martin closer to home, into appropriate clothing and to A&E.”

The couple later found their friend, who had been able to enjoy the entirety of the concert, and they left Heaton Park. On the way out, Emma claimed she asked a police officer how to make a complaint because they ‘hadn’t been given a crime reference number’ or had chance to explain what had happened to any officers at the scene.

Martin spent eight hours at Royal Oldham Hospital overnight, including having CT scans. His injuries were not deemed serious and he was discharged at around 10am on Sunday.

Emma later made a complaint to Greater Manchester Police about their treatment at the concert, claiming that the couple have still not been visited by an officer. “Martin and I had never seen Oasis before so we were so excited,” Emma added. “I had managed to get a ballot number last year and sat for hours to get these tickets.”

The couple had everything set for a perfect day out, with the kids looked after by grandma and the sun shining, but their concert experience turned sour. “We sorted the kids being babysat by my mum, it was a sunny day and we were really looking forward to it. It was all so disappointing. You don’t think you’re going to go out to a concert and this is going to happen to you.”

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed they are probing an incident at the Oasis gig in Heaton Park on Saturday night. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers are investigating after we received a report of an assault at the Oasis concert at Heaton Park on Saturday evening.”

They added that the victim was treated for injuries which were thankfully not severe. “The man received injuries for which he was treated for, and thankfully which weren’t serious. We will be visiting the man in due course to provide further updates, with an investigation underway.”

The Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Engineer Gbenga Komolafe, has been barred from a lawsuit by the Federal Capital Territory High Court.

Justice H. Muazu overturned the case brought by a non-governmental organization seeking to compel the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) or its proxies to prosecute Engineer Komolafe within 30 days in a ruling issued on Friday, July 18, 2025.

In the lawsuit filed under the name FCT/HC/GAR/CV/128/2025, the NGO Registered Trustees of Trust Field Empowerment Initiatives made unsupported allegations against the NUPRC boss regarding the provision of oil blocks and fixing applicable signature bonuses.

Additionally, it brought legal action against the AGF and the NUPRC, who are the third and first defendants, respectively.
