In response to calls for Pete Hegseth to step down as secretary of defense of the United States, Piers Morgan took to social media to express the rare occasion he and Hillary Clinton shared.
On Wednesday, Piers Morgan and Hillary Clinton had a surprising social media conversation. The pair frequently blow themselves up over their opposing viewpoints on contentious subjects.
However, this time both were surprised to find themselves in agreement. It came after the former Good Morning Britain man wrote on Elon Musk’s microblogging site, X, formerly known as Twitter: “If you don’t consider this to be classified info about imminent war plans, it *may* be that you’re too partisan to recognise the truth when it slaps you around your tribal chops.
Republicans would have been “righteous” if this had taken place under Biden’s leadership.
Then, he shared leaked information with Pete Hegseth, the secretary of defense of the United States. It allegedly lists possible launches’ timings in it.
Hillary re-shared Piers’ post and said: “Never thought I’d be retweeting Piers Morgan, but he’s right!” Piers shared the interaction on his Instagram account and captioned the post: “Finally, Hillary smashes a glass ceiling…”
Then he instructed his followers to scroll through his response to her. Do you have any knowledge of classified information breaches? asked Pier in a response.
Hegseth’s resignation was urged after his Signal account exposed his reckless attack plans. His opponents claimed that the leak “could” put a target on the mission’s pilots.
Democrat Senator for New Jersey Andy Kim said Mr Hegseth acted “recklessly” after his account texted times when American pilots would carry out strikes in Yemen earlier this month. In the “team update” group chat on Signal, Mr Hegseth said F-18s would launch multiple strikes while being supported by drones that would be deployed against targets.
The leaked chats have proved to be a major embarrassment for the Trump administration with chat members, including Hegseth slamming critics. That is despite White House officials confirming the authenticity of his claims. Hegseth has repeatedly denied texting attack plans in the Signal group chat that included The Atlantic magazine’s Jeffrey Goldberg.
Earlier in the week, Piers also took aim at Lord Alan Sugar. While the journalist and broadcaster wished Lord Sugar a happy birthday on Monday, he couldn’t help but made a jibe – even referencing Donald Trump.
He said, “Happy birthday, my Lord,” and continued. I’m shocked that our age difference is only 19 years apart. You appear to be ten years older than Trump, your current sexiest.
The dig was a response to Lord Sugar’s earlier barb, which read, “@piersmorgan it’s my birthday today Piersy (78)”. Please let me know when you have a stainless Rolex Daytona because I’m aware of your efforts to get one.
“I’m aware that you will turn 60 on the 30th, so why are you still eligible for pension?” On the NHS, you can now get incontinence pants for nothing.
