As the May 17 deadline for electing a new parliament quickly approaches, Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese declares that he intends to hold an election “imminently.”
I can foresee that it will occur in May. And it will be called pretty soon, Albanese said on Thursday on Triple M radio.
“I won’t call it right away, but I will call it soon.” He said, “I believe Australians want to get on with it.”
According to separate reports from The Sydney Morning Herald and The Australian newspapers, Albanese is scheduled to visit Governor-General Sam Mostyn’s Canberra on Friday to call the election.
To dissolve parliament and hold general elections, Albanese must be given Mostyn’s permission as governor-general of the United Kingdom, King Charles’s representative.
Although Albanese’s office has not yet made any comments on the claim, The Australian reported that the election would take place on May 3.
The federal election is scheduled for tomorrow, ending months of rumors about when it will be called by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Several government sources confirmed that Albanese would travel to Canberra’s Governor-General’s residence tomorrow morning to finally get a picture. twitter.com/aVD11WCABA
In light of the rising living expenses, Albanese’s Labor Party has put forth a number of measures to appease voters.
A person making an average income would be eligible for a 268-Australian-dollar ($170) tax cut in the fiscal year ending June 2027 and a 536-Australian-dollar ($338) cut the following year.
Although welcome, the tax relief, which was implemented during the current fiscal year, was only 1, 654 Australian dollars ($1, 044).
The Liberal-National coalition’s leader, Peter Dutton, made his pre-election promises that the government would reduce the fuel excise tax by half, calling it a “real, immediate relief” that could save single-car families 750 Australian dollars ($473) over the course of a year.

Pop artist Miley Cyrus dropped the first trailer for her highly anticipated visual album and it was just as bold and glamorous as the icon herself. The visual studio album entitled, Something Beautiful, marks a genre-defying moment for the artist and her first major attempt at a visual album.
Miley has been teasing the new project since last year, confirming that her upcoming studio album would be accompanied by a film for the first time. The minute-and-a-half-long trailer makes a bold promise: that this visual album will be “a unique visual experience fuelled by fantasy”. Set to electronic beats and a high-energy sample of new music from the artist, the project claims to be “a one of a kind pop opera from the mind of Miley Cyrus.”

Miley confirmed that the studio album, which will include 13 original songs, will be released on May 30 and will be followed by a visual film, which will have its own theatrical release in June 2025, in an Instagram post that came with the trailer release.
What can moviegoers expect, though? Miley appears in a number of high-glamorous locations in Los Angeles in the trailer. Miley is seen writhing on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in all her glory, covered in crocodile tears, sporting big hair, bold looks, and body glitter.
And as you would expect from any pop opera helmed by Miley, the beauty and fashion is impeccable. According to Miley’s Instagram post, the visual narrative features “archival Thierry Mugler couture, Jean Paul Gaultier, custom Alexander McQueen, and Alaïa.”
Even fashion icons were excited by the exceptional couture Easter eggs scattered through the trailer. Miley’s Instagram post elicited a rare single-word comment from the formidable supermodel Naomi Campbell: “BEAUTIFUL”.
Miley confirmed she drew inspiration from Pink Floyd for her Something Beautiful(Image: X)
Something Beautiful is a follow-up to the singer’s 2023 LP Endless Summer Vacation, and she has been teasing for months that this will be a particularly special project for her. In November 2024, Miley teased her thinking and inspiration in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. She revealed that she drew particular inspiration from Pink Floyd’s iconic visual album The Wall. “My idea was making The Wall, but with a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture,” she said.
Miley referred to the upcoming album as “hypnotizing and glamorous.” It’s a concept album, she continues, “that attempts to use music to somewhat ameliorate a sick culture.”
Si Harrison purchased Dave Myers’ beloved BSA Goldstar for £16,000 during an auction at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull, West Midlands, which hasn’t been used much since the filming of the movie.

A man has expressed his joy to buy Dave Myers’ last motorbike for £16,000.
Si Harrison purchased the BSA Goldstar when it went under the hammer at the National Motorcycle Museum near Solihull, West Midlands on Wednesday. The grey and black motorcycle famously featured in the BBC’s The Hairy Bikers Go West, which was the last series made by the popular TV chef duo Si King and the late Dave who died aged 66 of cancer in February last year.
Si was Dave’s close friend, and his passing “absolutely devastated” him. So he purchased the wheels as a bike, and Dave’s legacy “means a lot to” him. On Dave Day, when the biking community gathers across the nation to raise money in the chef’s memory, Si plans to ride the BSA Goldstar. More than 20 000 people traveled from London to Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, last year to raise £127, 000.
And now Si hopes to ride Dave’s BSA Goldstar when the community gathers this year to repeat the journey. He told the BBC: “We’ve been such good mates and the news of Dave’s passing was absolutely devastating. I couldn’t think of a bike that I’d rather be on, and the idea of riding in Dave Day meant so much to me.”

Dave, himself from Barrow-in-Furness, found fame alongside his friend Si as part of the motorcycle-riding cooking duo The Hairy Bikers – their last show together was broadcast shortly after Dave’s death. Until it was sold, the bike was displayed at the National Motorcycle Museum, alongside a life-size cut-out of the pair, as well as Dave’s riding gear.
Lilian Myers, the presenter’s widow, said after the auction that she was “absolutely happy to see this bike being loved,” adding that Dave will certainly be as delighted as the person who purchased it. I’m delighted that Dave’s bike has found a new home and raised money for three very worthwhile causes dear to his heart. I hope the new owner will enjoy riding it as much as Dave did, making their own memories to treasure. It’s a special motorbike with some special memories.
According to Lilian, the funds will now be donated to South Cumbria’s CancerCare North Lancashire & and NSPCC Childline.

With a pulsating 120-119 road victory over the Indiana Pacers, LeBron James put a stop to their three-game losing streak with a buzzer-beating rebound with 0.01 seconds left.
With 42 seconds left, the Pacers took a 119-118 lead before the Lakers were on the verge of a fourth straight defeat on Wednesday thanks to a thrilling duel in Indianapolis.
However, Luka Doncic made one last drive to the basket as the rim of his attempted 13-foot floater sank off the rim.
The Lakers won the playoff game game with a swift leap from James to give the winning score by palming the ball into the bucket.
James, 40, finished with 13 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists after failing to score from the field in the opening three quarters.
Despite having an offensive off-night, Lakers coach J J Redick praised the veteran superstar’s perseverance in pulling his team over the line.
Another excellent example of how he started off slowly offensively without going too far in the direction of Redick.
He played a great defensive role for us, though. Then, in the fourth quarter, he takes over and is rewarded by the basketball gods for sticking to his rope and continuing to compete.
James claimed that his subdued offensive performance had no bearing on him.
James remarked, “Whatever it takes to help your teammates win.” Even when I’m not scoring, I can always do other things that have an impact on the game that still matter.
I’ve always built that foundation throughout my entire life, getting my guys to get involved, rebound, defend, and then sprinkle in a few points where necessary.
With 34 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, Doncic and Austin Reaves combined for the Lakers for 24 points, as well as Rui Hachimura, who had 14 points.
With a victory, the Lakers are now 44-28 in the Western Conference. The top six overall winners of the standings automatically advance to the playoffs.

Greggs is probably one of James Charles’s last appearances, and his reaction to his first ever sausage roll has left British fans reeling.

Makeup influencer and social media personality James Charles has left some British fans reeling after posting his reaction to trying Greggs for the very first time. He recently touched down in the London to collab with other UK creators, but fans weren’t expecting this pistop.
The 25-year-old YouTuber is most famous for his elaborate makeup looks. He’s also become known for his humorous and sometimes bizarre TikToks, like when he posted an extended ‘crash out’ at the news of a potential TikTok ban.

However, his TikTok reaction to trying his first-ever Greggs has already sent him viral. Fans were glued to their seats as his verdict on one of Britain’s most beloved institutions was over five million views.
James reacted by removing the sausage roll from its traditional Greggs bag and saying, “Oh, that looks nice.” He declared, “It’s so good,” after taking a big bite. Fans, however, were offended by the makeup mogul’s subsequent comment, which stated that he believed the roll needed “a little sauce.”

One commenter claimed that a sausage roll with ketchup is “DIABOLICAL.” When you put the camera roll in the KETCHUP, the “GASP” I grew suspicious of! another yelled. Another commented, “It feels like a crime.”
Other people claimed that consuming ketchup on a sausage roll was not very British. One person claimed, “I’ve never seen a Brit eat it with ketchup.” Another compared it to dipping crisps in ketchup, arguing that despite its size as a snack, it should be consumed on its own.
Discussion erupted as a result of him eating the entire roll without putting it in the bag. When they remove the entire package from the bag, you can tell that they are not British. A user remarked, “The bag helps catch the inevitable crumbs.”
James then tried the Greggs chicken bake, which he praised as “gorgeous.” The pepperoni pizza slice, which he also adored a lot, was next. He said, “Okay Gregg,” and he appeared stunned.
Without prior authorization, content cannot be displayed.
He then gave Greggs a largely positive rating of ten out of ten. Even so, he continued, “This would be a ten if I was drunk on a night out.” He then posed with the (lightly perplexed-looking) Greggs staff and ended the video on a good note.
British viewers were largely pleased with his reaction, aside from the ketchup controversy. Although some Greggs fans were upset that James didn’t try the steak bake, one of the deli’s most well-liked dishes, James responded that he “wasn’t feeling it” because he had steak for dinner the night before.
Many people find it hard to believe that he even starred in a Greggs. One employee said, “Imagine working in Greggs and James coming in and ordering a sausage roll.”
“James Charles eating a Greggs wasn’t on my bingo card like,” a commenter said. Geordie Shore star Chloe Ferry even chimed in: “Imagine walking into Greggs and seeing James Charles munching on his steak bake!!!”
