Prince Harry’s secret agony over charity row as ‘crushed’ Duke ‘won’t give up’

One royal expert claims there is a compelling reason why Prince Harry is sensationally resigning as patron of Sentebale, a charity he founded in honor of his late mother Princess Diana.

Prince Harry will be ‘crushed’ about quitting a charity he founded in a bitter row – but it won’t be the last of his philanthropic efforts in Africa, an expert has claimed. Amid a bitter boardroom battle, Harry revealed he has resigned as a patron of Sentebale, a charity in Africa he helped to set up in honour of his late mother Diana, Princess of Wales.

Harry founded the charity Sentebale in 2006 with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho to help young people and children in southern Africa, particularly those living with HIV and Aids. And after his bombshell statement, the chairwoman of the charity appeared to criticise Harry for “playing the victim card”. She also alleged there had been “poor governance, weak executive management, abuse of power, bullying, harassment, misogyny, misogynoir”.

Harry and Prince Seeiso both shared a “heavy heart,” saying he was “in shock” and “truly heartbroken” to be standing down as he supported the charity’s departing trustees, who had also left in a dispute.

But royal biographer Ingrid Seward doesn’t believe this means Harry’s charity work in Africa will be over – and it is down to one important reason. The editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine told the Mirror: “Harry and his friend and joint founder of the charity Prince Seeiso of Lesotho set up Sentebale in 2006 in memory of their late mothers. The romantic name means Forget Me Not in the local language. It has been close to Harry’s heart for 20 years.

Harry has raised money for Sentable every polo match and charity event he has attended, most recently one in New York in December of last year. He must be devastated, no wonder. He was deeply moved by the orphaned Sentable children who were living with various disabilities. Literally . He embraced and embraced them, played football with them, and gave them hugs.

“He took his brother Prince William to Lesotho to see some of the orphans in 2010 when they were still close. Their friend and childhood mentor Mark Dyer, former equerry to their father, was on the board of Trustees. Dubbed a ‘surrogate father’ to Harry, he helped him set up the charity which became so close to his heart.

He frequently mentioned how proud Diana would have been of him when he had established Sentable. How his thinking about helping the young children who were born with Aids was heavily influenced by her memory. Because it was done in her memory, it is especially heartbreaking for him. Today, he will be both depressed and angry. However, his African philanthropy won’t be the last to come out. Harry will never forget Diana’s memory because Harry will never forget it.

When Harry was 19 years old, Harry spent two months in Botswana while he was still in his gap year. This inspired him to start the charity, which is now active there as well. He visited herd boys who live in remote mountain areas and visit Aids orphans who had been living in harsh conditions.

The duke spoke to a group of young people about the “massive difference” Senebale was making while visiting Lesotho and the prince in October. The Charity Commission stated that it was “concerned of concerns about Sentebale’s governance.” The commission stated in a statement that it is assessing the issues and is deciding what are the appropriate regulatory actions to take.

The remix hint comes 17 years after Duffy released her debut album – and 10 years after she was last seen in public. Following its release, the album secured a spot at the top of the UK album charts, where it stayed for five weeks, and became the UK’s third-best-selling single of 2008. Her rise to stardom soon saw her scoop awards for her success, and she won three gongs at the 2009 BRIT Awards including British Breakthrough Act, British Female Solo Artist and British Album of the Year. Rockferry was also crowned Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2009 Grammy Awards.

However, soon after the release of her second album in 2010 the Welsh musician sudddenly retreated from the spotlight. A decade later, Duffy returned to Instagram in February 2020 in which she bravely spoke about being held captive, drugged and raped in a harrowing ordeal, and explained how she finally felt strong enough to discuss what happened to her.

“The truth is, and please trust me I am OK and safe now, I was raped and drugged and held captive over some days. Of course I survived. The recovery took time,” she shared.

The pop star explained that she had wanted to share her story with her fans. She did not name her attacker, but mentioned a journalist had reached out and helped her talk about her pain. She added: “You can only imagine the amount of times I thought about writing this. The way I would write it, how I would feel thereafter.

“Well, not entirely sure why now is the right time, and what it is that feels exciting and liberating for me to talk. I cannot explain it. Many of you wonder what happened to me, where did I disappear to and why. A journalist contacted me, he found a way to reach me and I told him everything this past summer. He was kind and it felt so amazing to finally speak.”

Duffy went on to thank her fans for their kindness, and fondly referred to them as her friends. She continued: “There’s no light way to say it. But I can tell you in the last decade, the thousands and thousands of days I committed to wanting to feel the sunshine in my heart again, the sun does now shine. You wonder why I did not choose to use my voice to express my pain? I did not want to show the world the sadness in my eyes. I asked myself, how can I sing from the heart if it is broken? And slowly it unbroke.”

A few months later, in April 2020, the Distant Dreamer songstress gave further details of the terrifying incident. She recalled a four-week ordeal during which she sad she was drugged in her own home, raped and taken to a foreign country.

The Warwick Avenue hit-maker explained that she didn’t go to the police because it “didn’t feel safe”. Writing on her website five years ago, she explained: “It was my birthday, I was drugged at a restaurant, I was drugged then for four weeks and travelled to a foreign country. I can’t remember getting on the plane and came round in the back of a travelling vehicle. I was put into a hotel room and the perpetrator returned and raped me.”

The star said she then “could have been disposed of by him” and explained how she thought about running away, though was afraid the perpetrator would call the police. “I do not know how I had the strength to endure those days, I did feel the presence of something that helped me stay alive,” she said.

Following the ordeal, Duffy revealed how she was so upset by what happened, she refused to see anybody for weeks and cut all her hair off. “In the aftermath I would not see someone, a physical soul, for sometimes weeks and weeks and weeks at a time, remaining alone,” she wrote. “I would take off my pyjamas and throw them in the fire and put on another set. My hair would get so knotted from not brushing it, as I grieved, I cut it all off.”

As she navigated her trauma, Duffy visited a leading expert where she recalled what had happened for the first time. The singer said she was “so lucky” to have come across the psychologist as she discussed how the ordeal had affected her psychologically. “Without her I may not have made it through. I was high risk of suicide in the aftermath. She got to know me, saw me as a person, learned about me and navigated me. She did it very gently,” she wrote.

After courageously opening up about the ordeal and her recovery, Duffy’s fans inundated her with messages of love and support as they rallied around the star. “It breaks my heart to learn of this. You are unbelievably strong to be moving on from this and so, so brave to tell it. I just wanted to send my love from my little corner of the world,” wrote one.

“All power to you for your strength, recovery and allowing that sparkling sunlight back inside,” another added. A third commented: “Take each day slowly, and you will become even stronger than you were before.”

PDP Governors Challenge Fubara’s Suspension At Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has heard from seven governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that they want to challenge Siminalaye Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, for six months.

The President’s authority to carry out such a (suspension) action is being challenged by the governors of Bauchi, Adamawa, Bayelsa, Enugu, Osun, Plateau, and Zamfara.

Bola Tinubu, president, and the National Assembly are named as respondents in the lawsuit.

The seven state governors urged the Supreme Court to declare that “the President has no power whatsoever or authority to suspend a democratically elected governor and deputy governor of a state in the Federation of Nigeria under the guise of or pursuant to the proclamation of a state of emergency, including the states represented by the plaintiffs.” based on the provisions of sections 1 (2), 5 (2), and 305 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Governor Siminalayi Fubara

In accordance with Sections 192 (4) (6) and 305 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s 1999 (as amended), the governors also urged the apex court to declare that the president has no authority to suspend a democratically elected state’s House of Assembly.

The appellants (seven state governors) requested a declaration that “the suspension of Rivers State House of Assembly members, his deputy, and their representatives was unlawful, unlawful, and in gross violation of the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended)””.

The governors contend that President Tinubu is ineligible to appoint a sole administrator in his place and suspend a serving governor.

The governors urged the Supreme Court to annul the Sole Administrator’s appointment to oversee Rivers State’s affairs.

They objected to the National Assembly’s use of voice votes to ratify President Tinubu’s decisions because they were constitutional.

They claimed that the defendants’ declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State did not adhere to Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended)’s constitutional requirements.

Additionally, the parties claimed that President Tinubu’s proclamation did not adhere to the required terms and procedures for making such a declaration, claiming that it was made for reasons beyond those set forth in the Constitution.

Additionally, they contend that the National Assembly’s voice vote for the state of emergency violated the Constitution’s requirement for a two-thirds majority of the members of each legislative chamber.

They requested the Supreme Court’s request for the following reliefs: “An order revoked the first defendant’s false approval of the second defendant’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.”

An order forbids the defendant from carrying out the governor and deputy governor of Rivers State’s unlawful suspension on himself, his employees, agents, and privies.

An order forbids the defendant from influencing the governor and deputy governor of Rivers State’s execution of their constitutional and statutory duties as well as their electoral mandate by himself, his servants, agents, and privies.

An order forbids the defendant from attempting to suspend any other governor of any state in Nigeria, particularly the plaintiffs, from preventing interference with or compromising their constitutional and statutory obligations.

President Tinubu appointed a sole administrator to carry out the governor’s duties in the state for the duration of the suspension, which included Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and members of the Rivers House of Assembly.

Istanbul elects Aslan interim mayor amid ongoing protests over Imamoglu

Nuri Aslan, who was imprisoned on corruption charges, has been replaced by Istanbul’s municipal government as its interim mayor.

Aslan, a member of Imamoglu’s Republican People’s Party (CHP), was chosen to lead the city while his trial is pending, according to local broadcaster NTV and Turkish news outlet Anadolu on Wednesday.

Aslan received 173 votes in the first round of voting, while Zeynel Abidin Okul, the AK Party candidate for president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, received 123. Aslan received 177 votes in the second round of the election, while Okul received 125.

A third round of voting commenced as both candidates failed to achieve the required two-thirds majority. Aslan received 177 votes in that election, while Okul received 125, ensuring Aslan’s election. Candidates would need a simple majority to win.

Ozgur Ozel, the head of the CHP, claimed that Erdogan’s request to appoint a trustee for the municipality had been thwarted by the interim mayoral election.

One leg will always be in Istanbul and one hand will always be in Sarachane, according to Ozel, adding that public opposition had prevented what the opposition refers to as a “coup attempt” against it. “The struggle will expand to all of Turkiye from now on,” Ozel said.

Aslan reaffirmed that his new position was only temporary while speaking alongside Ozel.

“Our mayor, who was chosen with Istanbul’s support, will return as soon as possible. He said, “We will take care of what he entrusted us with and return it to him” along with our chairman.

Following Imamoglu’s detention a week ago, demonstrations have been occurring all over the country. Despite authorities throttling crowds and arresting hundreds of people, including journalists, his supporters vow to continue protesting.

According to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, police had detained 1,418 people by Tuesday afternoon. 11 Turkish journalists who were covering the protests, of which seven were detained, were included.

“Street terrorism”

Erdogan claimed on Wednesday that the main opposition had caused his government to not get upset.

Erdogan has remained defiant despite the protests, calling them “street terror” a week later.

“There is nowhere to go for those who spread terrorism in the streets and want to ignite this nation.” He claimed that their decision is a dead end.

Officials in the government have refuted claims that the opposition figure’s legal action is politically motivated and have argued that Turkiye’s courts are independent.

Imamoglu’s arrest in a graft and “terrorism” investigation, which his supporters have described as a “coup,” led to protests that broke out on March 19. The court has currently dropped the “terrorism” charge.

Since then, large crowds have staged street demonstrations in Istanbul, the country’s capital, Ankara, and Izmir, where the unrest has spread.

The main opposition party, the Republican People’s Party (CHP), announced a possible tactical shift by saying it would not organize another nightly protest on Wednesday outside the Istanbul mayor’s office.

Natasha’s Recall: INEC Confirms Receipt Of Petitioners’ Details

On Wednesday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) received the contact information for the Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s representatives as well as their email addresses.

The electoral body confirmed on Tuesday that it had received the petition to remove Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, but it claimed that it did not comply with the “requirements” for the action.

In accordance with Clause 1(f) of our Regulations and Guidelines, INEC had stated that the petitioners’ representatives did not include their contact information, phone number, or email address in the covering letter that was sent out to the petitioners.

Senator Natasha Did Not Meet Requirements; — INEC

However, Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information & Voter Education Committee, stated in a statement on Wednesday that the missing information had been sent to the Commission’s Chairman on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025.

A letter was written to the Senator requested to be recalled about the receipt of the petition and delivered to her official address as required by Clause 2(a) of the Commission’s Regulations and Guidelines for Recall 2024. According to the statement, the same letter was copied and posted online by the Commission to the Senate presiding officer.

The petitioners’ list of signatories, according to the statement, will be reviewed to ascertain whether more than one-half (more than 50%) of the registered voters in the constituency have signed the petition.

The Commission’s next step will be determined by the outcome, according to Olumekun, and this will be done in the coming days.
