Meghan Markle dealt ‘brutal snub’ after turning up at Kris Jenner’s birthday party

Meghan Markle may have thought she’d be the guest of honour when she arrived at reality royalty Kris Jenner’s star-studded 70th birthday bash but as fans were keen to point out, it was far from the case

Meghan Markle’s latest public outing has seen her apparently ‘snubbed’ by the matriarch of the Kardashian Family. Prince Harry’s wife, 44 – who is rumoured to be returning to acting after a 9-year hiatus – was snapped as she arrived at Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday bash, which had a 007 theme, on Saturday at Jeff Bezos’s Beverly Hills estate.

Arriving hand in hand with her husband, both dressed in black, Meghan – looking chic in a sleek black long-sleeved top paired with a floor-length matching skirt, flashed a megawatt grin as she walked into the private event alongside Harry, who kept it classic in a black tuxedo, complete with poppy – though her other half seemed less animated to be there. But it was what happened – or didn’t happen – post-event that got royal watchers talking.

Following the party, which apparently guests were told would be a private event, with no TV cameras present, momager Kris shared a series of pictures from the event on Instagram, along with the caption, “Magical night celebrating my 70th birthday with beautiful family and friends”, Kris posted 20 pictures of the night.

And a host of famous faces, including the likes of crooner Maria Carey, could be seen in a reel of glamorous snaps celebrating Kris”s milestone birthday, which was just days before on November 5 – but Meghan and Harry were nowhere to be seen in any of them.

Fans online were quick to notice the omission. One slammed, “Wonder if she was invited. Another article said that she attended a second event hosted by Serena on the same evening. Did Megs crash the …” and another added: “Oh the shade! I am here for it!! [cry-laughing emoji].”

Another online commentator penned, “How did the toxic two get invited, as they are not even D listers, did they need …” while a third wrote, “maybe jenner is worried she will get another basket of lemons and whatever else wifey …” Yet another commented: “This speaks volumes, they were not their focus at all.”

The Beverly Hills bash drew pretty much every A-lister you could imagine. Aside from the areas’ famous royal couple, in attendance included Oprah Winfrey, Adele, Mariah Carey, Paris Hilton, Justin Bieber and Snoop Dogg – with Bruno Mars performing live.

And the star-studded attendees clearly enjoyed themselves a little too much, as police were called to Jeff Bezos’s estate after complaints about loud music and disturbances.

It’s not the first time Meghan, who lives in Montecito with Harry and their son Archie and daughter Lilibet, has been linked to the world-famous Kardashians, however. Back in Auguast, the Duchess sent the family a specially-selected package of products from her lifestyle brand, As Ever – including a crate of rosé for Kris.

Kris subsequently posted the gift on her Instagram Stories with the caption, “Thank you @megan @aseverofficial,” with a string of brown heart emojis.

Does the rise of Dutch centrism spell doom for Europe’s far right?

At 38, Rob Jetten, with his confident smile and “We can do it” slogan, is on course to become the Netherlands’s youngest prime minister.

His liberal-progressive D66 party almost tripled its number of seats in parliament in the October 29 general election.

Dutch far-right firebrand Geert Wilders suffered significant losses in the vote, as his anti-immigration, anti-Islam Party for Freedom (PVV) shed 11 seats, returning to the opposition after a hobbling first stint in a coalition government.

While this result was cast as a victory for the centre over the far right, and a good omen for Europe’s liberal front, experts sound a note of caution.

“There was a return to the centre in the sense that a number of centre parties gained in these elections,” Leiden University professor Bernard Steunenberg told Al Jazeera.

Jetten’s D66 bagged 26 seats, a gain of 17 seats since the last election. The Christian Democrats (CDA), another party near the centre, won 18 seats, nine more than in 2023.

But “we still have a rather substantial right-wing volume of voters”, Steunenberg added.

Wilders’s PVV and Jetten’s D66 both won 26 seats in the Dutch parliament, becoming the biggest parties by seat numbers. The former won over the latter by a slim margin of 28,400 votes, out of more than 10 million cast.

PVV won about 17 percent of the vote, down from about a quarter in 2023, its second-highest election score.

Experts say that far-right ideas and policies have not been sidelined in the Netherlands. Yet, the centrists’ huge gains may hold a lesson for other European parties.

Far-right vote splinters

Rather than shrinking, support for the far right splintered.

Some former PVV voters backed other hard-right parties, such as the Forum for Democracy (FvD). Having won just three seats in the November 2023 election, FvD secured seven this time around.

FvD was born as an Eurosceptic think tank in 2015 and entered politics two years later. Compared with PVV, it focuses on traditional values as well as the rejection of state intervention, including on issues such as climate change and COVID-19.

Similarly, the more moderate-sounding Juiste Antwoord 2021 (JA21) party increased its seats from one to nine. Armida van Rij, a researcher at the Centre for European Reform, described the JA21 as “a PVV-light party, with equally extreme ideas but presenting themselves as more palatable to the electorate and other parties”.

Of a total of 150 seats in the Dutch lower house, the far-right bloc in parliament has remained roughly the same size; it won 42 seats, compared with 41 in 2023.

The grouping has witnessed a steady ascent. After the 2021 election, Dutch far-right parties had a combined share of 28 seats.

“This doesn’t mean that the right-wing parties are coherent and form a solid bloc – they are quite fragmented, and it’s very difficult to form a right-wing coalition in which the PVV is participating,” Steunenberg said.

Wilders was responsible for the downfall of the previous government, a teetering alliance between the far-right PVV, the conservative liberals (VVD), the centre-right New Social Contract (NSC) and the agrarian Farmers-Citizens Movement (BBB).

Less than a year after it was established, the 62-year-old triggered a cabinet crisis over tougher measures to curb migration, leading to the snap vote.

Rather than skirt away from the far-right ideology, voters appear to have penalised the party for Wilders’s decision to pull out of government after only 11 months, as well as for its perceived failure to deliver on issues such as affordable housing and better healthcare.

Signpost for Europe

At a time when populist parties are vying for power across Europe, the Dutch general election could be a signpost.

But analysts warn against drawing narrow comparisons.

“We should be modest in thinking what this means for other countries in the European Union, because it depends on how the political situation is in different member states,” Steunenberg said.

“For example, in France, the centre – which is [President] Emmanuel Macron – has been very disappointing to many, and it has triggered a new movement towards [the fringes] on the left and right.”

Despite the differences, the Dutch vote holds a few takeaways for centrist parties.

Elizabeth Kuiper, associate director at the Brussels-based European Policy Centre (EPC) think tank, described Jetten’s campaign as “Obama-esque” – a nod to former United States President Barack Obama’s “Yes We Can” campaign.

D66 led a campaign that was “very positive” and focused on heartfelt issues, she said.

“In these past years, we have seen [Dutch] voters feeling alienated from their governments, especially when it comes to affordable housing, green energy and healthcare,” Kuiper told a conference organised by EPC.

“D66 approached these topics from a very positive perspective, whereas the others tried to win the competition with Wilders when it comes to migration – being much more toxic and making it a problem.”

According to Kuiper, while other centrist parties adopted some far-right ideas and policies on the issue of migration, D66 fought Wilders with a more “positive” agenda.

Steunenberg said that centrist parties should rely on more “positive” campaigns that focus on what voters would like to see changed, “instead of framing it in very simplistic terms in which blame is being shifted towards different groups in society”.

D66 now faces difficult choices about whom to enter into government with, and bears the responsibility of delivering on its electoral promises.

The blast occurred near the entrance of Islamabad district court, which is typically crowded with a large number of litigants.

Local media showed gory pictures of the site, with bloodied individuals lying near a police van.

“As I parked my car and entered the complex… I heard a loud bang on the gate,” lawyer Rustam Malik said after the blast, which sent people fleeing and damaged vehicles in the area.

“It was complete chaos, lawyers and people were running inside the complex. I saw two dead bodies lying on the gate and several cars were on fire,” said Malik, one of the witnesses who spoke to AFP news agency.

Inside Holly Ramsay and Adam Peaty bitter wedding row after mum banned from hen party

Adam Peaty has been accused of ‘forgetting where he comes from’ as it’s claimed his sister Bethany is now the only member of his family attending his wedding next month

Adam Peaty’s mum has reportedly been banned from his wedding to Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Holly next month. The bitter feud is said to have started after Adam’s mum Caroline wasn’t invited to Holly’s swanky hen do at Soho Farmhouse.

This was despite Holly’s own mother Tana Ramsay being included, as well as close family friend Victoria Beckham. But her future mother-in-law was apparently snubbed from the family event.

Instead the 59-year-old is said to have stayed at home in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, to look after her five-year-old grandson George, who Olympic swimmer Adam shares with his ex Eirianedd Munro. While Adam invited future father-in-law Gordon, also 59, to his stag do.

Caroline’s sister – and Adam’s aunt – Louise Williams, has since vented her anger at 25-year-old Holly, who she accused her of being “divisive and hurtful” in a public social media post. This is thought to have upset influencer Holly, who has been dating Adam, 30, for more than two years.

Writing on Instagram, Louise blasted Holly over the snub to Caroline, who she says “opened her home and heart to you”, claiming it had inflicted “a hurt on my sister that will take a very long time to heal if ever”.

In a dig at Holly, she posted: “@hollyramsayy I’m so glad that you had a great hen do. As a bride, you deserve that. However, as a person you were divisive and hurtful towards a woman, who I have loved and continue to love deeply.

“A woman who opened her home and heart to you. You decided, for whatever reason, not to invite her, your prospective mother-in-law to your hen night yet Adam invited his father-in-law, your dad, to his stag night. You invited your mum (quite rightly) and even your mum’s assistant, your sisters, your friends, my niece, but not my sister, your future mother-in-law.

“I have also seen messages passing between her and Adam about this and other matters and, quite frankly, I expected better of you and definitely of Adam. You have inflicted a hurt on my sister that will take a very long time to heal if ever.”

A source said to be close to Adam’s working class family claimed the snub happened after the Olympic gold medallist – who wouldn’t have a career without his hard working parents steering him to glory – became “seduced by the fame and glamour of the Ramsays”.

After his aunt’s post, MailOnline reports that Adam sent his “heartbroken” mother – who he was once very close to – a message banning her from the wedding which is due to take place at Bath Abbey over Christmas.

He is also said to have stated his intentions to disown his family in messages seen by the publication and said his mum would not see his son George or any future grandchildren ever again.

Though the rift between Adam and his mother – who used to get up at 4am to drive him to swimming practice before going to work herself – is said to have been brewing ever since Adam began dating Holly.

It’s said that initially Caroline and her husband were invited to the wedding, along with other family members, and she excitedly bought a dress. But Adam and Holly reportedly didn’t like it so offered to buy her a new one they did approve of.

Adam is thought to have paid for his parents to visit Bath on the train to go shopping, which they accepted, but the trip couldn’t happen due to the train stabbings in Huntingdon two weeks ago.

A source told the Mail that instead of rearranging the trip “Adam went mad” saying they had “wasted his money” and he “wouldn’t be able to get a refund” despite the fact he is a millionaire.

Caroline’s kind offer to get involved in the wedding and make table setting name plates, as she is good at crafts, were also said to have been declined by Holly and Adam – and she was apparently told her help was “not needed”.

The source said: “Adam has changed so much since he’s been with Holly. She comes from a celebrity world, while his parents do not, and his ego and self-importance have grown. He’s no longer the lovely boy next door we all remember. It’s partly because Adam doesn’t feel his family is good enough for the new one he is now part of.

“Caroline is devastated by the rift and doesn’t know what she has done wrong. Adam’s relationship with his mum and dad Mark are at an all-time low, and now she’s not coming to the wedding.

“‘They feel that Adam started to grow distant from his family after he met Holly and they started to become more serious. There is a feeling that money is an issue. His family are working class and proud – it’s a stark contrast to the Ramsay family and some members of the family have said it feels like Adam is ashamed of them.”

Now it’s thought that only Adam’s sister Bethany is attending the wedding as nobody else in the family can afford the hotel costs. And it doesn’t sound like Adam has stepped in to foot the bill.

Caroline has responded to the fall out in her own Instagram post which said: “Crying is a way your eyes speak when your mouth can’t explain how broken your heart is.” The Mirror has contacted reps for Holly and Adam for further comment on this story.

Chalobah set to replace Guehi in England squad

Getty Images

Trevoh Chalobah is set to join up with the England squad to replace injured Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old Chelsea defender is due to link up with the squad for England’s final World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Serbia, but it has yet to be officially announced.

The Three Lions have already qualified for next summer’s tournament.

Chalobah earned his first call-up under England manager Thomas Tuchel in May and then made his debut against Senegal.

Tuchel has been an important figure in Chalobah’s career, having given him his Chelsea debut in 2021.

Chalobah has featured in all but four matches for Chelsea this season, with the club third in the Premier League, in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals and in the league phase of the Champions League.

Guehi suffered a foot injury in Crystal Palace’s Conference League win over AZ Alkmaar last week.

Kylie Jenner ‘dumped’ by Timothee Chalamet after two year romance

While Kylie Jenner looked stunning as ever at her mum, Kris Jenner’s, 70th birthday, reports claim she is going through a breakup as Timothee Chalamet has ‘dumped’ her

The youngest of the Kardashian sisters, Kylie Jenner, has reportedly been dumped by her boyfriend, Wonka actor Timothée Chalamet, following a two and a half year relationship. Reports have surfaced on their split following Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday bash, where Kylie reportedly looked ‘lonely’ and Timothée was nowhere to be seen.

Kylie, 28, and Timothée, 29, have remained relatively private about their romance since first being linked in April 2023, but have attended many high-profile events together.

While Timothée didn’t attend Kris’ birthday party, many other A-list celebs were in attendance. Snaps from the evening included photos of Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z, Prince Harry and Meghan and Justin and Hailey Bieber. The part was held at Jeff Bezos’ mansion in Beverley Hills.

While Kylie Jenner looked stunning as ever in a plunging, backless white gown, sources have claimed that she is currently going through heartbreak as Timothée has reportedly ‘broken up’ with Kylie.

A source told the Daily Mail: “This has happened before – but she talked him into getting back together. She is crazy about him so that could well happen again.”

Another source claimed to the publication: “There is trouble in paradise, but they aren’t completely over. He is filming quite a bit, and she feels that she has to chase him. She is putting in the work more than him.”

The reports follow after Timothée appeared to take a swipe at Kylie during a Vouge cover shoot where he said he didn’t talk about his relationship as there wasn’t ‘anything to say’.

Timothée’s absence didn’t stop Kris Jenner from having an amazing time at her party. The James Bond theme bash saw her transform into the ultimate Bond girl. She wrote on Instagram: “I am beyond blessed and so very grateful for my precious family and friends”.

Kris embraced the 007 theme and danced the night away in a stunning red gown. She shared photos of herself clinking glasses with Mariah Carey, while other guests like Mark Zuckerberg, Paris Hilton, and Martha Stewart enjoyed the festivities.

They all enjoyed a surprise performance from Bruno Mars as Kris shared her celebrations with her six kids, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Rob Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and Kendall Jenner.

Meghan and Harry opted for a classic look with a black tuxedo, a white shirt and a bow tie to honor the party’s James Bond theme.
