Idris Elba breaks silence on James Bond rumours as he declares future plans

Idris Elba, a lithography legend, has opened up to the Mirror about what the future holds for him and his family, and made it clear that he is considering a potential James Bond role.

Idris Elba is the one name that keeps coming up in conversation when everyone is hoping to become James Bond. Fans of the franchise may be looking forward to the long-awaited call to name a replacement British Secret Service agent as Daniel Craig’s replacement is about to pass.

Since Craig’s departure in 2021, which he had previously performed in No Time To Die, has been in the air. And despite the fact that Bond 26 is scheduled to begin in 2027 and have a 2028 release in 2028, Elba has, regrettably, refrained from making any claims that he will be hired and fired for the role.

Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, the 53-year-old star shot down any hopes of him ever doing Bond, claiming age is against him. “I can’t believe I am still being asked this at 53!” he said.

“You commit to a decade of making movies, sometimes a little longer,” says Bond. Nobody wants to see Bond “circling” in his mid-thirties.

Elba’s decades-long, highly impressive career led to the establishment of the links. Perhaps his portrayal of Luther the brilliant-yet-troubled homicide detective was most notable.

While the series hit its heights on BBC at the start of its nine-year initial stint in 2010, it later moved over to streaming giants Netflix, where its popularity continued to surge.

Elba co-starred in Luther: The Fallen Sun, a sequel film from 2023, in addition to five gripping series. And while he avoided Bond, he has now made fun of the possibility that he might decide to purchase his long, elegant trench coat in the future.

He acknowledged that “Luther is the character I have played the longest.” He remarked, “I probably get the most out of each character.” “It takes such concentration to play Luther; he is so complex, and I enjoy playing him because he transports me to places I’ve never been before.”

“I don’t think I’m ready to say I have hung up his coat right now, but there is nothing to report.”

His success extends beyond Blighty and Luther, for which he also received a 2012 Golden Globe nomination. The well-known actor has also established himself as a big hit abroad, naming John Cena and Keanu Reeves as his close friends.

He has appeared as Heimdall in movies like Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hobbs &amp, Shaw, a spin-off of the Fast &amp, Furious franchise, was also starring him.

He also acted as Chief Bogo in the well-known kids’ movie Zootopia, as well as The Suicide Squad.

Despite his emphatic rise to fame and new glitzy lifestyle across the pond, Elba continues to fly the flag for Britain. The Hackney and East Ham native has stayed true to his roots and is even working with King Charles III.

He described his participation in a new King’s Trust documentary as “extraordinary.” Elba’s crucial efforts to combat knife crime are followed by this. He has since produced a documentary called Idris Elba: Our Knife Crime Crisis, which he adapted from his extensive campaign work to reveal some of the harrowing tales of those who have been a victim of the terrible crime.

He stated to us about his most recent collaboration with the Monarch: “We must be able to give them opportunities that they haven’t been getting.” We must form these partnerships to help kids off the streets because The King’s Trust does some incredible work.

He continued, “Knicker crime is not just a criminal issue; it affects all walks of life. There is a moral duty.” Grieving families, prison overcrowding, and issues with education. The only way to see real change is to go down the issue’s path.

Elba described how his passion for spreading awareness of the issue developed as a result of becoming a father. People talk so casually about a minimum prison sentence, but the point is to divert these kids away before they even consider picking up a knife.

It’s not just Charles who Elba has worked with from the Royal Family. The man of many talents was also the DJ at Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle in 2018.

He described it as one of his life’s highlights when he first took to the decks at their Frogmore House reception. In 2019, he even mention dropped some of Meghan’s song requests, including those from Whitney Houston, Still D. R. E., and Dr. Dre’s Still D. R. E.

After making the decision to leave their respective responsibilities, he only has praise and admiration for them.

He declared it “amazingly amazing” and said, “They have a voice and they are using it.” When we’ve met them, they’re just fun to be around, Elba continued. They are a great couple.

He claims that there is still much more in the pipeline, despite the fact that his future antics may not allow him to wear Bond’s suave tuxedo. He is optimistic that his wife Sabrina will be a part of many of his upcoming projects, though.

The actor’s third marriage comes after the pair, who have been married since 2019. Although the couple is not expecting children, Elba has two sons who were in previous relationships: Isan and Winston.

He stated, “I would love to do more projects with my wife, both personally and professionally, about working closely with his family in the future.

We have a skincare line, and my wife, who luckily also happens to be my best friend, wants to do more with her. You also want your children to enjoy themselves. As long as it’s their path and they are engaged in a cause of passion, I’ve always said that I don’t care what they choose to do.

Australia edge England in pulsating Test to clinch Ashes

Match 2 of 3 of the Rugby League Ashes

England (4) 4

Goals: Smith (2)

Australia (4) 14

The wait is getting longer. Another gallant English failure. Australia’s influence continued.

The Kangaroos won their 14th series win, an Ashes run that started 52 years ago, with a 14-4 victory in the second Test on Saturday.

In order to complete a 3-0 series whitewash, Australia, like in 2003, attempt to play a sold-out third Test at Headingley in Leeds next week as a dead rubber.

However, this performance was more appropriate for a Shaun Wane side after being brutally beaten by Kevin Walters’ team at Wembley a week ago.

After failing to “show up” for the first Test, the England head coach had promised his team would provide a better account of themselves, and they came out on top.

After Nathan Cleary and Harry Smith exchanged penalties, they enjoyed the better of the first period, but the scoreboard displayed four points each instead of their territorial dominance.

England’s issue was that they couldn’t break through an Australian defence, which was as good as it could get.

There were some promising moments, with Morgan Knowles knocking on the ball before grounding it under the sticks before Dom Young was fingernail-struck from a Herbie Farnworth grubber kick to start the corner.

However, the tourists blew the game away in four second-half minutes.

Cameron Munster twisted away from a George Williams tackle to score on the next Australia set, and a shocking error was made on the left of England.

And with the match clearly in full swing, Australia received yet another error.

Canberra Raiders second row Hudson Young was able to collect the loose ball when Cleary’s booming kick ricocheted out of Tom Johnstone’s hands.

With just three minutes left in the game, a major conflict between a number of players caused the frenetic opening, with Tino Fa’asuamaleaui of England and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui of Australia receiving punishment for their actions.

And that set the tone for a more assertive and aggressive England display than at Wembley.

Some of the scruffiness in England’s sets was exacerbated by Smith’s inclusion due to his notable game management skills, and debutant AJ Brimson justified his inclusion at full-back.

Despite England’s excellent work, they were unable to reclaim the win and, even when Australia’s full-back Reece Walsh was sin-binned in the second half, frustratingly for Wane and his team on the sidelines, they were unable to find a way back into the game.

England: AJ Brimson, Dom Young, Herbie Farnworth, Jake Wardle, Tom Johnstone, George Williams (capt), Harry Smith, Mike McMeeken, Jez Litten, Matty Lees, Kai Pearce-Paul, Kallum Watkins, Morgan Knowles, and Dom Young.

Mikey Lewis, Alex Walmsley, Morgan Smithies, and Mikolaj Oledzki make changes.

Walsh, Nawaqanitawase, Staggs, Shibasaki, Addo-Carr, Munster, Cleary, Collins, Grant, Fa’asuamaleaui, Crichton, Young, Carrigan, and Walsh are Australia’s speakers.

Film about Ibiza legend has ‘green-light’ and set to shoot next year

In 2026, insiders claim the script is “brilliant,” and the film is being wildly popular.

The production of a Tony Pike-inspired film is set to start the following year. The script, which is described as “captivating,” was written by Irvine Welsh, who is currently casting Tamer Hassan as Pike.

Last week, producers received the order to begin scouting locations. Welsh once claimed that the Spanish party island was his “second home” and was a regular visitor to Pike’s Hotel. His script is brilliant, according to a source, and it really illuminates the island’s extraordinary cultural legacy. . It will be epic in length. “

The infamous hotel was run by the late Pike – once dubbed Ibiza’s version of playboy Hugh Hefner – and who claimed to have slept with more than 3,000 men and women. He is also said to have taken drugs with Freddie Mercury at the hotel, which was famously the setting for Wham’s Club Tropicana video. Celebrity guests at the hotel over the years included Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, Grace Jones, Boy George, Nirvana singer-songwriter Kurt Cobain, and Kate Moss. Pike died of cancer aged 85.

Hassan stated earlier this year when he played Pike that he wanted me to play him in the movie of his life. Find your inner Pike, he said when I said I didn’t think I could. You are capable of doing this. In 2023, “Welsh” once praised Pike. Tony was a great raconteur, he said. He had a truly greater power than life.

Israeli attacks on olive harvest ‘threaten Palestinian way of life’: UN

The UN warned that this year’s olive harvest is on track to be the most violent in more than a decade, and Israeli settlers have launched additional attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

On Saturday, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported several instances of settler violence, including one in fields close to Beita and Huwara, near Nablus in the West Bank, and another in Sinjil, a town close to Ramallah.

After Israeli settlers opened fire on three Palestinian farmers as they were picking their olives, three others were hurt in al-Maniya, southeast of Bethlehem.

Since Israel launched its Gaza war in 2023, there have been more settler and military attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank. However, the olive harvest season this year, which started last month, has seen an even higher increase in violent incidents.

October is on track to be the most violent month since UNRWA began tracking settler violence in 2013, according to UNRWA’s agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA).

In a statement released on social media, Roland Friedrich, director of UNRWA affairs in the West Bank, stated that “the olive trees are deeply rooted in Palestinian heritage and identity. …

According to Friedrich, “attacks on the olive harvest threaten the very way of life for many Palestinians” and “increase the occupied West Bank’s coercive environment further.” Families should be able to harvest their olives without fear of harming their land, according to the article.

At least 126 Israeli settlement attacks have been reported in 70 Palestinian towns and villages this olive-picking season, according to the most recent UN statistics released on Thursday.

According to the UN’s humanitarian office (OCHA), more than 4, 000 olive trees and saplings have also been vandalized.

OCHA in addition claimed that the expansion of Israeli-occupied West Bank settlements has “further undermined Palestinian farmers’ ability to harvest their olive trees.”

In the wake of the Gaza War, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration has been quickly launching settlements, drawing international human rights organizations’ condemnations and warnings.

Israeli far-right politicians have been calling for Israel’s formally annexation of the West Bank, including members of Netanyahu’s ruling coalition.

The UN human rights office warned in July that Israeli security forces are collaborating with them to increase settler violence in the West Bank and supporting them there.

Bompastor backs ‘class’ Hampton after Earps comments

Hannah Hampton, the goalkeeper, has shown “class” in response to Mary Earps’ criticism of her, according to Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor.

After Earps questioned Hampton’s choice as her number one at Euro 2025, Bompastor also criticized Sarina Wiegman’s lack of respect for England manager.

Earps, the former England keeper, claimed she told Wiegman that her recall of Hampton to the squad, after being “disruptive and unreliable,” was “bad behavior” by her.

Earps, 32, will release her autobiography the following week, and excerpts from her book have been released by the Guardian.

“We are talking about Hannah, but I want to speak out for Wiegman,”” said Wiegman. You should probably think about it before speaking when you use the words “winner” three times in a row.

“One of the things Hannah said about Mary Earps is class, and Hannah is the class one,” Hannah said in her earlier comments about her.

Hampton reportedly had a bad attitude after joining the England squad for Euro 2022.

Wiegman later recalled Hampton, who saved two spot kicks in their Euro 2025 penalty shootout victory over Spain. He later said it was for “something personal.”

At the Ballon d’Or awards in September, the 24-year-old was also honored as the best female goalkeeper.

Earps was a key player in England’s victory at Euro 2022, and he also saved Jenni Hermoso’s penalty from Spain in their World Cup final defeat a year later.

Hampton claimed that Earps’ “changed” her “goalkeeping in the women’s game” after her shocking international retirement in June.

With all the accomplishments she’s made in the game and helped put women’s goalkeeping on the map for the younger generation, Hampton said at the time, “I think there’s been quite a bit of scrutiny that she probably doesn’t deserve.”

Hampton kept her third clean sheet in a row as Chelsea defeated London City Lionesses on Saturday morning, the morning after the first excerpts of Earps’ book were released.

It’s difficult because Hannah is both an athlete and a person. She has grown a lot since I started Chelsea, and she is a great athlete as well, Bompastor said.

We have a really positive relationship, and I want to show her my support in this circumstance. She is regarded as a classy and professional, as evidenced by what she accomplished today.

She exhibits both mental and physical qualities as the best goalkeeper in the world. We simply want to treat her with love and respect.
