Femi Falana, a human rights lawyer, criticized President Donald Trump’s claims of Christian genocide and the threat of military action as embarrassing. She attributed this to the country’s inability to address insecurity.  ,
Falana, who spoke on Wednesday’s Politics Today episode of Channels Television, cited among other things, the government’s inability to combat crimes like kidnapping for ransom.  ,
Why have we embarrassed ourselves as a people by treating ourselves like a United States of America’s citizens? the attorney’s senior inquired.  ,
How dare you, Mr. Trump? “We can’t even challenge him,” he said. Where is the source of this slander?

Trump referred to Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” (CPC) last week for what he claimed was a “mass slaughter of Christians.” In the event that the West African government doesn’t quickly address the issue, he then threatened military action.  ,
“I hereby instruct our Department of War to get ready for possible action.” We’ll launch an attack that will be swift, vicious, and sweet, just like terrorist thugs attack our Christian enemies! WARNING: “Better Move Faster” The NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT Trump’s platform, Truth Social, contained some writing.  ,
The Federal Government refuted the claims, sparking a flurry of debate both domestically and internationally about Trump’s comments.

Falana weighs in on the situation, calling on Nigeria to take action in light of the recent developments.  ,
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) stated on the current affairs program that “we as a people and for the government of Nigeria, we must now take Mr. Trump’s warning as a wake-up call.”
Amanda Anisimova “embraced the fight” to overcome Iga Swiatek in three sets and join the undefeated Elena Rybakina in the knockout stage of the WTA Finals.
In a winner-takes-all encounter, the Wimbledon and US Open finalist progressed to Friday’s semi-finals with a 6-7 (3-7) 6-4 6-2 win over the Polish world number two in Riyadh.
Earlier, Rybakina completed a clean sweep of the Serena Williams Group with a 6-4 6-4 win over Ekaterina Alexandrova, a late replacement for the unwell Madison Keys.
Rybakina, who failed to progress past the fourth round at any of the Grand Slams in 2025, is now on a nine-match winning streak and has dropped just one set at the season-ending event so far.
The leading eight women’s players in singles and doubles are competing in Saudi Arabia, where £12m ($15.5m) in prize money will be won.

Anisimova ‘enjoys the fight’ against Swiatek
Wednesday’s meeting in Riyadh completed Swiatek and Anisimova’s 2025 trilogy, which started with the former’s stunning 6-0 6-0 triumph in the Wimbledon final, before the American exacted revenge in their US Open last-eight encounter.
In an opening set of fine margins, 2023 champion Swiatek held off four break points as tournament debutant Anisimova grew frustrated at her inability to convert her chances.
That angst continued to rise as six-time Slam champion Swiatek took control of the tie-break, wrapping up the set on her second point as she was rewarded for her resilience.
After asking the umpire to eject a vocal fan in the crowd, the Pole then missed three break points early in the second set, wasted chances the 24-year-old would later rue.
The remainder of the set went with the serve until Anisimova got her deserved break at the ideal time, her relentless pressure forcing Swiatek into a backhand error at set point down.
Swiatek saved five break points early on in the third set, but an untimely double fault on the sixth proved decisive as Anisimova held off a break-back point before a forehand winner into the corner completed a fine comeback.
“I knew it was going to be such a tough challenge, I told myself to just go for it,” fourth seed Anisimova, also 24, told Sky Sports.
Rybakina unruffled by late opponent swap

Second alternate Alexandrova had sat on the sidelines all week but her patience proved worthwhile on Wednesday when Keys – unable to advance – withdrew just hours before her match with Rybakina.
The 30-year-old, who has enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2025, received the nod after fellow Russian and first option Mirra Andreeva, who is also competing in the doubles, declared she was not fit to play.
Alexandrova started impressively but squandered three break points before returning a forehand wide to hand the first break and a 5-4 lead to Rybakina.
The big-hitting Rybakina, sporting tape on her serving shoulder, served out the first set to love before breaking early in the second courtesy of a backhand error off her opponent’s racquet.
As Alexandrova’s serve faltered, Rybakina stepped up a gear and she doubled her advantage with a brutal forehand winner on break point, only to immediately lose one of her breaks when serving for the match.
Her struggle to get over the finish line continued, forced to save two break points in her next service game, before eventually sealing victory on her second match point as Alexandrova sent a backhand long.
“Each win gives you confidence,” said Rybakina, 26. “Hopefully I can continue.”
In the doubles, 2022 champions Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens confirmed their semi-final berth with a 6-3 6-3 victory over Italian pair Paolini and Sara Errani.

Jade Thirlwall has opened up about the harsh reality of being in Little Mix, revealing she and her bandmates sobbed at the height of their success amid fears they’d be dropped by their label

Little Mix cried over fears their label would drop them at the height of their fame. The girl group made history when they not only became the first group to win The X Factor in 2011, but also became the first girl group to make it so far in the competition.
Previously, girl groups, including the likes of Belle Amie and 4th Impact, had been voted out of the competition during the early live show rounds. However, with the guidance of their mentor, Tulisa Contostavlos, Little Mix continued to sail through week after week.
Every week, Jade Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock impressed the public and judges with their renditions of E.T, Don’t Stop the Music and Super Bass. After winning, they went on to become one of the biggest-selling UK girl bands of all time.
Despite this, Jade has now opened up and feared the girls would be dropped by their record label, while at the height of their success. Prior to the release of their third studio album, Get Weird, in November 2015, the girls had racked up an impressive three Number One singles and seven Top Ten singles.
Jade has now revealed that, ahead of Get Weird’s release, the group worried their career could be over. “It was cut-throat. You were always on a tightrope of success; if you fell out of the Top 10, there was a lot to worry about,” she said. Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar UK, she added: “I look back at times when we were huge, before Get Weird came out, and we had a big sleepover, all crying, ‘If this isn’t a Top 10 song, we’ll get dropped.’ It’s wild to think about now because we were so big at the time.”
However, Jade admits that after the group went on an indefinite hiatus in 2022, she struggled the most. Her bandmates, Perrie and Leigh-Anne, were engaged and had families, while Jade is dating Rizzle Kicks star Jordan Stephens.
She told the outlet: “I struggled the most to adapt to life after the group – the other girls had better distractions: families, kids. They went into a new chapter willingly. It was just me. I didn’t know what to do with myself. Since I was 18, I lived and breathed Little Mix. It just took me a minute to adjust
“There were so many spirals. I kept thinking, ‘Will I still be relevant by the time I come out? Will everyone forget about me?’ And being 30-plus, you do wonder, ‘Is that old to start as a solo artist?'”
But to Jade’s surprise, she has gone on to achieve astronomical success since her girlband days. She signed as a soloist with RCA, and her debut single, Angel of My Dreams charted at Number 7. Her solo record, That’s Showbiz Baby, released in September this year, saw Jade take home the Number Three spot.
This, however, isn’t all – her solo headline tour, That’s Showbiz Baby: the Tour, is completely sold out, leaving Thirlwall to add extra dates for fans to snap up more tickets. At the BRIT Awards this year, she took home Best Pop Act and was also nominated for Song of the Year for Angel of My Dreams.
Elsewhere, in November last year, she took home the Trailblazer Award at the Rolling Stone UK Awards.
The December/January issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK is on sale from 7 November
Strictly Come Dancing could be facing yet another scandal as reports have claimed there is a video of a married celebrity contestant kissing his female dance partner

Strictly could be facing a new scandal
Strictly Come Dancing has been hit with many scandals in recent years, yet the latest could result in “an absolute PR crisis”. The hit BBC dance competition has tried to brush off bullying claims, an alleged drugs scandal and the show’s ‘curse’.
Things had seemingly been going to plan this year until hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced their shock exit at the end of the series. However, a new alleged scandal has come to light and could “rock the very foundations of Strictly” if a video were to emerge.
Reports have claimed the release of the clip could implode a long-standing marriage and cast a shadow over the show. A 12-second clip allegedly shows a married former Strictly contestant kissing his female professional dancer.

It’s claimed that the video was filmed backstage at Elstree Studios by a member of production who saw the pair passionately snogging in a dressing room. It has been claimed that the kiss happened on a previous series but has “been the talk of Strictly”.
“The video itself shows the famous married family man passionately kissing his female dance pro,” a source told the Sun. “She is sitting on his knee, and he has his hand on her back before leaning in for a kiss.
“The kiss only lasts a few seconds, but it would more than likely end his marriage and destroy his carefully cultivated family man image.” They claimed the video has been shared on WhatsApp and people have been “slightly sickened” by the act as they “always knocked down scurrilous romance rumours.”
The source added that if the clip was shared publicly, it would be a crisis for the two stars and the BBC. Staff on the show reportedly met the man’s wife, and described her as “absolutely adorable; such a kind woman.”
It wouldn’t be the first time the family-friendly BBC show has faced scandal in recent years. Ahead of this year’s launch, many feared for the show’s future.
There have been multiple reports of misconduct allegations over the past few seasons of Strictly, resulting in axings. Back in 2023, professional dancer Giovanni Pernice received the boot following claims made by his celebrity partner, Amanda Abbington.
Amanda made allegations of “bullying” and “aggressive behaviour,” but Giovanni has always denied “abusive or threatening behaviour”. Some complaints against him were upheld, but he was cleared of the most serious ones in a probe that lasted months.
In the same series, dancer Graziano Di Prima was axed over claims of misconduct towards partner Zara McDermott during training. He was sacked by BBC bosses amid claims he “hit, spat at and kicked” his celebrity dance partner.
This year, Welsh opera singer Wynne Evans got kicked off the UK tour after being accused of making inappropriate remarks. The 2024 celebrity contestant was filmed making a controversial “spit roast” comment during the Strictly live tour.
Although Evans later said the term referred to fellow contestant Jamie Borthwick and not presenter Janette Manrara, as was reported at the time, he claimed he was forced to apologise and has since parted ways with BBC Radio Wales.
Over the summer, there were reports the BBC had called in the police after lawyers began an inquiry into claims two of its stars had used cocaine. A BBC spokesperson said at the time: “We have clear protocols and policies in place for dealing with any serious complaint raised with us.

“We would always encourage people to speak to us if they have concerns. It would not be appropriate for us to comment further.”
The Mirror has contacted the BBC for comment.

At least 11 people have died and about 30 others have been injured in a fire at a retirement home in northeastern Bosnia, according to officials.
After it started to burn on Tuesday evening, the seventh floor of the building in Tuzla, which is located about 80 kilometers (50 miles) northeast of Sarajevo, was completely covered in flames.

The fire erupted into flames and smoke in the night sky after taking about an hour to contain.
According to Bosnian media reports, elderly people who couldn’t move on their own or were ill were using the higher floors of the complex.
When I woke up in the morning, I overheard a cracking noise. Ruza Kajic, a resident of my room, told BHRT on Wednesday that she doesn’t know if the windows in her room are breaking.
She said, “I live on the third floor.” “I saw burning material falling from the top,” I said as I looked out the window. I scurried into the hallway. There are bedridden people on the upper floors.
The elderly and helpless people were seen standing outside the building, according to Admir Vojnic, who lives close to the retirement home.

According to prosecutor spokesman Admir Arnautovic, investigators were still trying to identify the victims of the fire and find the cause of the fire.
According to Arnautovic, “the bodies will be identified during the day.”
The director of the retirement community later admitted to having submitted an offer of resignation.
The least I can do in this tragedy is do it because it is the only human thing I can do. Mirsad Bakalovic told the news agency, “My heart goes out to the victims’ families.”
“Last night was a truly difficult event, a tragedy for Bosnia as well as the city of Tuzla,” he said.
The Tuzla authorities received condolences and assistance from all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
