Meghan Markle’s ‘jarring’ request at first wedding that left guests baffled

One of the wedding details that Trevor Engelson and Meghan Markleonce shared made guests chuckle when they inquired, “Is she kidding? “

Before Meghan Markle became globally recognised as the American actress who married Prince Harry, she walked down the aisle once before.

After a second chance meeting in a bar when she was just 23 years old, the Duchess of Sussex and American film producer Trevor Engelson wed in August 2011.

Although their relationship ended in divorce just two years later, it is thought that their relationship remained positive for the most part.

Although little is known about their relationship’s ins and outs, Meghan’s role in the US television series Suits has previously revealed some intriguing details about their wedding.

Despite her fame being relatively modest at the time, Meghan made a rather strict request of her wedding guests, much to their amusement, the Express reports.

Tina Brown quotes a guest who attended the 2011 nuptials in her book, “The Palace Papers.” The guest admitted to Brown that Meghan had sent out a note requesting “no social media, please” as the only jarring note.

She had been wearing Suits for a few months, and we were all laughing out loud when we realized who she was. She said, “I’m a really big actress.”

In 2013, Meghan and Trevor split, citing “irreconcilable differences,” and their divorce was declared the following year.

This was a full four years before Meghan Markle graced the aisle once more to wed Prince Harry in Windsor, following their whirlwind love affair. Meghan bid farewell to her role on Suits to marry the youngest son of King Charles.

When Harry proposed at their Kensington Palace residence, the pair had only been dating for a short while, and the wedding was less than a year later.

Although Meghan was warmly received into the Royal family, her tenure as a working Royal was short-lived. Both she and Harry stepped back from Royal duties and relocated to Montecito in California.

On 8 January 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shocked the world by announcing their decision to step down as senior working royals.

A royal gathering convened in Sandringham to discuss the issue in what has since been referred to as the “Sandringham Summit,” which was led by the late Queen Elizabeth II, just a few days later, on January 13.

The meeting saw the late monarch, King Charles, Prince William and Harry in attendance, however Meghan was notably absent.

According to reports at the time, the Sussexes didn’t believe it was “necessary for the duchess to join.”

The Queen stated in a statement following the “summit” that “today my family and I had very positive discussions about the future of my grandson and his family.”

‘Ireland face key period after deflating Chicago return’

Inpho

While much of Ireland’s preparation for its 2016 Soldier Field rematch with the All Blacks was focused on a renowned Irish victory, it was difficult to envision the 2023 World Cup in the wake of that victory.

There were many ingredients.

The number of green jerseys in Downtown Chicago significantly increased in the 24 hours leading up to Ireland’s 26-13 loss on Saturday, bringing back memories of two years ago when a sizable crowd of supporters took them to Paris for another All Blacks game.

Heartache was the story’s ending in the Stade de France. Although this transatlantic adventure didn’t have the same defining characteristics as the original, it will still be significant.

A significant difference was present. Ireland put a last-gasp try into the semi-finals in Paris, adding pressure to New Zealand for the first time.

However, they ended the game with a whimper in front of a largely Irish crowd at Soldier Field, falling 13-7 to the final quarter.

In Dublin earlier this year, France put an end to Ireland’s Six Nations bid with 34 unanswered points. This capitulation was not as spectacular as the others, but it was a top-five nation’s escape.

Farrell promises to change things if they aren’t up to scratch.

Indeed, the inquiries Farrell has received about his aging, underperforming squad and the growing need for evolution two years after returning from his British and Irish Lions stint will only grow.

Farrell never once let his post-match comments get too stale, still depicting a despondent figure in Soldier Field as he blamed the defeat on “mental switch-offs” and “a lack of sharpness.”

Ireland reclaimed the Six Nations title during Farrell’s sabbatical. The rest of their autumn meetings with Japan, Australia, and South Africa are opportunities to experiment before they attempt to reclaim the trophy from France, who caused Ireland’s only other loss this year.

On the Ireland Rugby Social, former Ireland scrum-half Conor Murray said, “Andy trusts his players because he’s watching them 24/7 and he’ll make changes if he believes they’re not up to scratch.”

He’s a great guy, but he won’t make decisions based on sentiment or knowing a person’s past, such as a person who has lived there for a while. If a player improves the team’s performance and the environment, he’ll do it.

Tadhg BeirneInpho

Ireland won 40-29 in the World Cup quarter-final against Ireland, which is regarded as the rivalry’s pinnacle, while the intensity and stakes of the competition saw heroic efforts from both teams in the team’s pivotal victory in Chicago nine years ago.

However, neither of those games was present in Saturday’s entry.

With a number of drawn-out stops for tackle reviews and injuries, neither team managed to produce an engaging spectacle in a nation hosting the World Cup in six years.

In the end, New Zealand won’t care. After a second-half surge that produced three tries in 15 minutes, they are still playing a long-awaited fifth Grand Slam of the northern hemisphere.

However, there is much to be desired in Ireland.

They lost to the All Blacks in the opening campaign of the autumn last year. They were not much better than they were in Dublin that night because of one of the worst performances of the Farrell era.

At least there were some positive aspects. With a Jack Crowley penalty and Tadhg Furlong’s first try since 2021, they quickly responded to Tadhg Beirne’s highly content early red card, which gave them a 10-0 lead.

Ryan Baird staked his claim to be a regular fixture in the back row, while Stuart McCloskey, a surprise addition at inside center, shined in his first game against the All Blacks before being forced off injured.

Although Farrell has previously lit a fire under his squad, this is one of his more difficult times.

They defeated Les Bleus 38-17 in their first match of the 2023 World Cup to complete a successful Six Nations defense.

Wins followed the All Blacks and South Africa’s 2022 and 2024 victories, while victories over Argentina, Fiji, and Australia came after their losses last year in November.

Given the travel required over the following 24 hours and the limited availability of substitutes for Japan’s visit to Dublin on Saturday (12:40 GMT), it seems likely that Farrell will have changed his line-up.

“I believe you’ll see a pretty good selection and maybe a few [changes],” Murray said.

Royal make-up artist Hannah Martin on the one beauty mistake people always make

Hannah Martin, a famous makeup artist, has a fabulous beauty advent calendar that kicks off the holiday season in style. We caught up with her to discuss Christmas everything…

Hannah Martin, a makeup artist, has been anticipating Christmas since June. She couldn’t be happier when we transformed South London into a winter wonderland. In between glitzy outfit changes, she says, “It’s my favorite time of year.”

The social media sensation’s 2025 beauty advent calendar benefits from it all. Hannah has once more collaborated with OK! after the sell-out success of the previous year’s offering. More products and a higher value are included in this year’s Beauty Box calendar.

Hannah proudly declares, “It was really important to me that this calendar was just as good as the one from last year, and it’s actually bigger and better.”

For just £60, you can get an eye cream for £145 and nine other free items as part of the Epic Christmas beauty gift set.

READ MORE: Paper’s “delectably packaged” 2025 advent calendar is a delight for stationery lovers.

30 beauty products, 19 of which are full-size, total over £600, are housed in the 25 drawers. And anyone who follows Hannah on Instagram will recognize that these goods, including those from Laura Mercier, Weleda, and Bobbi Brown, are genuinely loved by professionals like Hannah. One lucky customer will also be able to obtain a one-on-one virtual masterclass with Hannah herself.

However, you must be quick. Within a few hours, thousands of people had already placed orders for the calendar’s first day of general release. So head over to the OK! If you want to avoid missing out, visit the Beauty Box website right away.

Hannah and I caught up with her to discuss all things beauty and, of course, Christmas.

Congratulations on a fantastic advent calendar! What was your experience like the year before?

People simply couldn’t believe the value I had, in my opinion, because I received so many positive messages about it. Giving people such a treat at Christmas is such a blessing.

What features of the interior can shoppers anticipate?

What kind of gifting do I want? There are products from incredibly well-known companies, and it takes a 360-degree view of beauty and wellness, which includes make-up, body, skin, and fragrance products.

What three items from the calendar represent your “desert island”?

That’s a challenging one! I’d recommend L’Oréal Paris Paradise Big Deal Mascara, which keeps your eyes fresh and bright, and Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Or, which gives your skin a gorgeous glow, as well as Weleda Skin Food, which keeps your skin hydrated forever.

What piece of advice would you give to someone who isn’t very confident in their makeup?

Watch the entire video content we created for the calendar; it will be very useful for learning about the products and how to use them. but also avoid overthinking things. Have a play, and if something doesn’t look right, you can fix it.

What mistakes do you see people make most frequently when it comes to makeup?

I frequently notice brows that are still being drawn on too heavily or too laminated. That appearance has, in my opinion, come to an end. I don’t love applying eyeliner to just the lower lashes, which is another matter. It can cause a smaller-looking eye.

You are the epitome of quick tutorials. What do you do in the mornings?

It’s just skincare when I have to run in the morning. I’ll do a full face if I’m going to a work meeting, but thankfully I’m doing that quickly.

Do your kids enjoy wearing makeup and beauty products?

My 12-year-old son Bear used to paint my bedside table with my lip glosses when he was younger. My seven-year-old daughter Bo is a total sucker for makeup. She thinks about special occasions. She wore a Charlotte Tilbury dark pink lipstick that she adored when we celebrated our wedding anniversary in early this year, and it looks fantastic on her. Bo is just playing, not that I’m against kids wearing makeup. She is aware that it is not for every day and that she does not need it.

What was your first cosmetics product?

One Christmas, I recalled having a bottle of Benefit High Beam highlighter strewn all over my stocking. But I enjoyed teaching myself. After attending theatre school and nursing, my solid plan C was to do make-up professionally.

What traditions do you have for Christmas?

Although my children’s birthdays both occur at that time of year, Christmas is hectic. I adore the smells, the decorations, and the food. As children get older and become more and more traditional, things just get more and more enjoyable. For instance, every Christmas we watch the pantomime, which they are already anticipating.

You’ve previously stated that you only buy beauty products that you’ve specifically requested as Christmas presents. Does this persist?

Oh no, I guess. My husband and I have exchanged some incredibly off-tangent gifts, and we’ve both thought, “Some sales assistant has had a field day with you!” However, I still enjoy receiving beauty presents. Limited edition Christmas merchandise is made by brands. At Christmas, I’ll always be scouring the beauty stores.

If you’re unsure of your recipient’s preferences for a Christmas gift, what is a failsafe option?

Giving people Chanel Rouge Noir nail polish and a Guerlain sparkly lipstick case, which are iconic beauty items that they might not otherwise purchase for themselves. A self-care gift is a regular and adorable idea. For instance, I’d never normally book myself a facial, but when someone gives me a gift card, I’m always delighted.
