Hampshire men’s head coach Adrian Birrell will leave the club at the end of the season.

The 64-year-old South African joined the club in 2019 and won the T20 Blast with the Hawks in 2022.

“It’s really sad when you move on and I’ve had a fantastic seven years,” Birrell told BBC Radio Solent.

The former Ireland and England U-19 head coach added: “This is a fantastically talented group of young players that will need a new coach to come in with a fantastic energy and take them forward.

“I have a farm, family and kids at home [in South Africa] and I don’t get to see them. It’s a really selfish decision and we decided as a team it was time for change.”

Birrell secured three third-place finishes in the County Championship with the club finishing runners-up in 2024.

In the white-ball game he has made it to finals day on four occasions, and on Saturday he has the chance to win a second T20 Blast title with the club.

Hampshire director of cricket Giles White told the club website: “All good things come to an end, and we are sad to see Adi go.

“It’s been a fantastic seven years at the club, during which he has become a hugely popular figure and overseen a successful period across all formats.

“Under his leadership, the team has reached numerous finals, come close in Championships, and lifted the Blast title in 2022.

Rebel Writers: Algerian Voices

Two radical Algerian writers – a novelist who championed independence and a playwright whose work cost him his life.

How two eminent figures in Algerian literature used the written word to contribute to their country’s struggle for independence, justice, dignity, and national identity.

Hulk Hogan, the WWE star who died in July, has left nothing to his estranged daughter Brooke, his will reveals.

In court files obtained by Us Weekly, lawyers for Hulk’s son Nick explained that Brooke was not listed as a beneficiary to his estate, which held just under $5million in assets. But this was her choice.

The will was revealed to have been amended four times. According to TMZ, Brooke has revealed that she was not in the will because she removed herself, fearing she would be caught up in a financial battle after her father’s death if she remained as a beneficiary. Brooke is reported to have requested to be removed from the will in 2023, which was the last time the will was altered.

The assets listed in the court documents included $799,000 in personal and intellectual property, $200,000 in cryptocurrency, and his right to publicity, which is estimated to be worth $4million. His real estate was not included in the documents filed.

Nick Hogan is the sole beneficiary of his father’s estate. Us Weekly floated the idea that the real estate left out of the court documents and valued at $11million may be controlled by a trust.

Hulk died aged 71 in July following a heart attack. His daughter Brooke revealed shortly after that she was not on good terms with her father at the time of his death, explaining that she “had to step away” in the final two years of his life.

Alongside all the assets Brooke could have inherited had she not removed herself from the will, there is reported to be an unknown value gained as a result of a potential medical malpractice lawsuit. This is being considering by Hogan’s widow, Melanie Sky Daily following a neck surgery she believes contributed to the former professional wrestler’s death.

Nick has filed court documents surrounding his father’s will and assets as part of an ongoing lawsuit to stop Todd Clem, who goes by Bubba The Love Sponge, from releasing a planned documentary about Hulk. Todd was a long-time friend of Hulk but his documentary is said to centre on a 2012 scandal where a sex tape of Hulk and Todd’s then wife, Heather Clem, was leaked.

Nick sued Todd over the documentary, claiming it violated an agreement made between Hulk and Todd in 2012. Ultimately, the judge found in favour of Todd, allowing him to publish the documentary if specific images from the tape were removed. Todd has always said he was not behind the tape’s leaking 13 years ago and that it was instead stolen by a former producer of his.

Brooke has confirmed that her father did not blame Todd for the leak. As quoted by TampaBay.com: “My dad told me all the way back in 2012 that he knew it wasn’t Bubba who leaked the tape.

“I remember asking him why they couldn’t be friends again after their settlement, but it was complicated. It makes me sad to think about it, but at least I can be here now.”

“Thank you for letting the little girl inside of me feel loved, seen and happier than ever. I love you and I cannot wait to be your wife.

“I promise to always be there with you and George, I’m so grateful [sic] to be in his life and I cannot wait for more. Everything is better with you. Everything has been better since you.
