After coming from behind to defeat Casper Ruud in Tokyo, world number one Carlos Alcaraz will face Taylor Fritz in the Japan Open final.
The Spaniard defeated the Dane 33-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the first set he has lost so far in the tournament.
Alcaraz won his 66th championship match with Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic, making him the fourth man to reach nine ATP finals in a row.
The six-time Grand Slam champion was upset about his first set performance despite winning.
In the first set, Alcaraz said, “I had a lot of chances.”
If I’m not mistaken, I had four break points. I just wanted to be more optimistic than the first set because it’s all about the details.
As he took charge of the match, Alcaraz made 20 of his 24 points on his serve in the second set after making 15 unforced errors.
The six-time Grand Slam champion has been struggling with an ankle issue since his tournament debut against Sebastian Baez, but there was little evidence of it.
In the other semi-final, second seed Fritz defeated compatriot Jenson Brooksby 6-4 6-3 to beat Alcaraz in the Laver Cup last week.
Alcaraz referred to Fritz as “I know he’s playing great tennis right now.”
I’m looking forward to it because it’s another challenge.
In his first hard-court final of the year, the American reached with 13 aces.
I did a fantastic job, Fritz said.
“First serves and spots are available.” He was really outplaying me from the beginning, like in any game where I didn’t hit three aces.
A pro-Palestine activist criticized Israel’s ongoing involvement in the country’s genocidal war in Gaza in a speech delivered by the country’s Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, during the annual Labour Party conference in Liverpool.
The protester, who later became known as Sam P, raised his hand over a large Palestinian flag and questioned, “Why is Britain still arming Israel?” less than ten minutes into the finance minister’s speech.

He continued, “Labour is complicit in the Palestinians’ widespread starvation.”
Reeves responded to the demonstration by saying, “We recognize your cause and we recognize a Palestinian state.”
Reeves continued, “We are now a party in government, not a party of protest,” and the audience members gave standing ovations.

The Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM), which had planned the disruption with London for a Free Palestine, called on the ruling Labour Party to impose a “full two-way arms embargo on Israel,” in a statement from the group.
The statement read, “The end of RAF surveillance flights over Gaza that gather intelligence for Israel… The immediate resignation of Labour Party leadership for lying to the public about Britain’s role in facilitating Israel’s genocide,” and [the end of Britain’s diplomatic ties with Israel.
Despite the UK announcing it had cut arms export licenses to Israel that could be used during the war, a report from PYM emerged in May that revealed that the British government had continued to send military exports to Israel.
The “horror in Gaza is only growing as Palestinian people are experiencing the most violent bombardment since the beginning of the genocide,” according to Nihal, an organizer with PYM.
While the Labour Party approves weapons licenses, shares intelligence, and provides diplomatic cover for these crimes, they continued, adding that “tens of thousands of Palestinians have already been starved, bombed, and killed.”
Leila, a London-based organization for a Free Palestine, claimed that they were “watching the end of the Labour Party,” which had historically been a center-right party on a number of issues.
The Labour government continues to deny the genocide and offer diplomatic support for Israel’s crimes, according to Leila.
108 years after the Balfour Declaration in 1917, which supported the establishment of a Jewish community in Palestine, and 77 years after Israel was established in the British Mandate of Palestine, the UK made a landmark decision earlier in September.
Palestinian officials applauded the recognition, but it did little to help those who had been victims of Israeli atrocities in Gaza.
At least 66 people have been killed and 168, 346 have been wounded in Gaza City, the largest urban center in the nation, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health on Monday, after an intense Israeli bombardment that has lasted for almost two years, and now a ground invasion of the city’s largest urban center.
Over the past two years, hundreds of thousands of people in the UK have voiced their concerns about Israel’s war, often weekly, and believe the government has not heard their concerns.

Brown Ogbeifun, former president of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), has accused Dangote Refinery of disrespecting employees after allegedly firing hundreds of employees.

He stated on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, “What we are seeing today is an organization that disregards the dignity of its employees.”
Over employee unionization, PENGASSAN and the private refinery have been at odds with one another.
He questioned the reported layoff’s timing, claiming it was a result of PENGASSAN’s ongoing unionization problems.
“I was informed that a restructuring at Dangote Refinery resulted in the dismissal of 800 workers,” I later learned. Why now, you ask? After unionization, why?
That is the main inquiry, they say. He claimed that the Dangote organization is known for being hostile toward unionization.
Ogbeifun arguaged that while employers have the right to hire and fire, they also have the right to exercise their legal rights.
You can’t wish away the dignity of workers because this generation is today. They must preserve their human dignity, he added.
Additionally, the former PENGASSAN president added that the issue involved human rights in business practices as well as unions.
Ogbeifun also raised questions about the Dangote Group’s alleged dominance in a number of industries.
Why should the Dangote organization bully everyone into going out of business? They both did it with cement and sugar. Should Dangote organizations serve as the foundation for a monopoly? He inquired.
His remarks come amid PENGASSAN’s and the Dangote Refinery’s ongoing labor dispute over the company’s disengagement and unionization of Nigerian workers.
The private refinery’s practices, which the union described as anti-labour practices, led to a nationwide strike.

Amanda Holden has opened up about the “weird” thing she does with her husband Chris Hughes that gives her “such a thrill”. Back on Heart Radio’s Breakfast Show on Monday, the 54-year-old and her co-star Jamie Theakston asked listeners to send in the “weird family rules” they had in their household .
Jamie said he wanted to hear more about the “kind of thing that, at the time, seemed perfectly normal to you, but it only gets worse when you look back and think, “Well that was odd””.
Amanda said that, despite being against the law, she and her sister used to adore being chased up the stairs by their father, which was one of her most heartfelt memories.
The presenter admits she now conducts the same behavior with her husband because she wants to follow tradition.
She shared that “my dad used to chase me and my sister up the stairs” and that she still does this day.
We used to adore it, but Chris, my husband, does it because it frightens me so much, and I can’t stop laughing.
You may well be aware that it’s thrilling because you won’t want to be caught because you’ll be tickled. But I keep running and he says, “I’m coming,” which I used to adore.
She claimed that when she enters the home, her husband and their children also jokingly pretend to be asleep.
The couple, who have two daughters, Lexi, 19, and Hollie, 13, have been married for more than 15 years.
Amanda has previously provided viewers with family history information while broadcasting on television.
She joked about how she felt when Chris occasionally locked her in the garage, and she later jokingly told viewers not to worry about her.
Amanda and her husband frequently practiced darts in their garage, according to Amanda during a discussion about Luke Littler, the world’s champion.
She claimed that he locked her in their garage until she scored the perfect 180 to improve, but she claimed to improve.
She said, “He’s in the garage on the dartboard if I can’t find him.” I’ve already told the rest of the country, “Please don’t worry about my safety,” but Chris keeps me in the garage until I get a 180. He won’t let me leave.
Jamie responded, “That’s kind of quite cruel, isn’t it? ” Seemingly surprised by her admission.
She continued, “Hmm, the garage is quite nice,” explaining the positives. I’ll let you know what I did because I spent a while there, and I actually did a little garage clearance.
